"I judge she appears to be injured," Takeshi responded. "As for what was happening, Legion had obtained a one-shot Shadow-based teleportation device through some negotiations with some other demons. I used it to ambush a convoy of Hunters. I approached them mundane, popped up and grabbed their 'sensitive cargo,' and then hopped out as fast as I could. It got me this." He reached into his coat and pulled out a yellow spike with black lines running along it, roughly the size of his hand. "It's the tooth of some greater demon, pumped with Necromantic energy; it's an inherent boost to my abilities. Legion pumped another object of mine before I left to help you guys, but its power is already consumed. This sucker, though, has no limit." He tucked his prize away.
"Sadly," he continued, "All I could manage before having to run was this and, ah... damn it, I know I have it somewhere around..." he rummaged furiously through pockets inside the trench coat. "Ah! Here it is. This." He held his hand out to Joe, offering him a glass sphere that appeared to be filled with thin smoke. Joe took it and inspected it.
"It's a mana cell," Takeshi explained. "You can pump your magic into it and then yank it out later. It helps you avoid the Evoker problem of running out of juice in the middle of a taxing fight. Speaking of that..." he trailed off. The smoke disappeared, leaving it clear. Takeshi sighed. "Much better. There wasn't too much left anyway."

Well, at least she's smart enough not to trust me, Siber thought, catching her timely hesitation. Alan was perturbingly gone, but he judged he'd eventually get used to it.
"Umm... they got me by chance, kind of. Sindhlot- that's Legion's right-hand... thing, pretty much- did his best to keep me from killing myself with a dangerous summoning move, but it punctured my chakras, or something, and I basically killed myself to keep myself alive. The Hunters were frighteningly close by when I finally revived, and Alan and Josh made it very clear to me I would not be returning to Legion." He paused for a moment to bite off another hunk of candy bar, considering that it would really be a good idea to stock energy bars instead of chocolate. "So you're elementalist and shadow- any specialties within those?" He was waiting as patiently as possible for another command."

Joe took the mana cell and spun it expertly across the backs of his fingers. "Mana cell? Sounds like a worthy investment."
Joe shook his head and grinned. "Thanks Takeshi. I imagine this is worth a good something." He stopped. "Hey, you said it's a mana cell, right? So, I use my mana, the magical energy that I can focus and release. Siber used his...chakra, right? Something like that. What about you? And does everyone use different methods, like me and Siber? Sorry for all the questions, it's just that ignorance is extremely frustrating for me."

Aurelie reached a hand up to smooth the hair out of her eyes, tentively touching the bump with a sigh. She turned her eyes to the stranger, Takeshi, as joe had called him, and halfway growled that she was alright under her breath, figureing he would hear anyway. Surprise flickered when Joe said something for her, making her wonder what she had done to earn that from him. Apolline was silent for a moment, then, As she walked beside Takeshi, she wondered about this warlock, guessing he had to be,... much higher on the food chain to Legion than they were to work so closely under him. She looked at the magic tools he pulled out, raising an eyebrow at the tooth, then looking forward again as they walked. Her energy was already almost built up to where it was before. she thought grimly, hearing Apollines eager laughter in her head. She responded with a grim smile as she walked beside the others, listening to Joe's question to Takeshi.

"Mana is a catch-all term," Takeshi answered. His sentences came choppy, one at a time and obviously being given to him by Haru. "It's a general word for all magical energy. It's naturally emitted from our bodies in larger quantities because we utilize it. Uh, let's see. Evokers can shape magic freely at any time, limited only by their capacity for mana, while thaumaturges give their mana its form and function, then store it. When actually casting, they simply have to make up the difference of the inefficiency and power lost in the process and use whatever mana is necessary to sustain it. Siber's chakra are a method of giving form to his mana. It allows him to shape it more easily. I use the "pump mana into it until it works" method because that's all I've had time for. If I get a chance to choose a method more precise and less wasteful, I intend to learn it."

Joe threw Aurelie a quick nod to acknowledge that she was all right, then went back to staring into the mana cell. "An all-catching term, right? So that means that we both use mana, but we utilize it differently and have different methods of using it, right?" Joe nodded. "Yeah, I guess that must be it. Well, thanks again Takeshi. This is gonan be a great help to me." Joe turned back to look at their road, thinking about how he was going to need to train himself harder in order to stand up to their enemies.

She sighed, holding up one glove to turn it and look at her glyphs. She needed to put some more there, perhaps entwine some elements. Se might not be able to stop the titans fister, but damn was she going to do everything she could, even if it meant blowing his eardrums and melting his shoes to the pavement or setting his hair on fire. The thought made her lose a slight amount of tension, as Apolline snickered. She may think that this Takeshi seemed really good, and Joe seemed rather comfortable with him, but well. She head been too many years being stubborn as it was, she didn't trust anyone this quick. Lengthening her strides somewhat she sidestepped to put a bit of distance between them, not liking being in arms reach of him. Remembering her earlier thought, she figured it as good a time as any to ask now. "What happened to the others? And what exactly are we going to do now? Apparently we didn't get anyone back on our side so...", Aurelie trailed off uncertantly. She wondered if thier whole mission had been for naught, and from the answering looks on thier faces, she bet it had.

"Legion already understands the fractured loyalty of our wayward friend," Takeshi answered. "He has something more important for us, apparently. He wants us to go over kinetics, a sort of freely available magic for any mage, regardless of discipline. Don't feel too bad about doing so little against the Fists of the Titan, by the way," he added. He had been able to read the cause of her brooding easily. "Legion gave me specific instructions on how to repel him."
~~
"Not especially," Linda groaned. "Arturo is furious I can't do a Chameleonic yet, and according to him, with the amount of mana I have I might as well be an Evoker - but I have nobody to teach me it and Arturo sucked at it. "So what exactly was this dangerous summoning move, and what do you mean by it 'punctured your chakras?'"

"Oh, that's too bad. I pulled off a Chameleonic once, and I didn't really know what I was doing." He gathered his thoughts as he finished his snack. "I guess I can tell you what summoning move it was, considering you can't exactly replicate it. The girl Kayla- I don't know if you met her- is a demoniac, too, but she actually channels dæmons, instead of just summoning them; they become a part of her body for a short time. It apparently means her energies are different from everyone else's, so I was trying to accomplish the same thing with my own energy. I figured if I could summon one dæmon through another, that meant that the first could summon the second into me. When I tried it, though, the strain snapped both dæmons back against me, which would have killed me without Sindhlot's help, but it did somehow jab a hole in my mana source, and I started losing energy like a sieve. I think it has to do with the amount of demonic energy that had to go back through me in such a wierd way." Siber was still a little worried about what would happen if Leviathan decided she wanted a turn in the real world, because she was clearly stronger than him, but he couldn't summon her, yet, to ask her and find out, and Keldan had no ideas. "I knew some evocators on the other side, and Keldan has a little bit of experience with it, if you want to learn. You'll have to help me with Shadow stuff in return, though- Keldan spent most of his time perfecting summons."

"Oh good," said Joe, turning back to Takeshi. "Would you be able to fill me in on that as well? I'd definitely enjoy the chance to handle him."

Takeshi laughed.
"I barely held him off with a shotgun, a Scorpion, and a team of zombies. Legion wants us to learn a team method of attacking him."
~~
"I'll do what I can," Linda responded, a little downcast. "I'm better with the Elements, though."

Samuel wandered further into the apparently empty mansion, exploring it since he had not seen the inside before this time. He walked quietly into the primary living space and sat down on a couch. He wondered why Legion had not greeted him at the door, as he had before. Interesting, really.

After he had wandered the city for what seemed like a couple days worth of site seeing, Ted finally managed to find his way back to the mansion. He was covered in scratches, and was bruised as well. Who knew that the Hispanics in the area were so volatile? {Well, you did insult them. What were you trying to do, anyways?}
Tryin ta greet them with something I heard one guy tell another. 'Oy, pendejo.' Didn't know that it was that. I mean, the two guys were laughing after the one said it, so I thought it was a friendly comment.
Hideki was bashing his head into the ground, or he would be if he had a body. Ted was a moron, and an all-around loser.

"A team method huh? So does that mean we all need shotguns and a few more zombies?" Tucking her hands in her pockets she grinned impishly, eyes danceing. , snapped Apolline. Aurelie's smile widened. Apolline huffed, still indignant over the outcome of the battle and therefore in a nasty mood. Aureleie's smile began to fade as she remembered the look on the hunters face as he had charged at her. Her lips tightened into a line as she began to seriously think about ways they could all work together. She turned and looked at Takeshi, definately wanting to hear the explanation herself, with a nod of agreement at Joe.

"Shotguns and more zombies sounds good, but I doubt it," Takeshi replied. "I'm hoping for some way to work around his shield magic. He hasn't told me yet, either. He just had me do the shotgun and zombie mob thing for lack of time."
