Kat rolled over and coulldn't figure out where she was. She sat up slowly and her neck ached. Her vision was a little blury still but she just hoped it would go away soon. She got to her feet and her brain started swimming. She tried walking forward again but didn't know which way was back the way she came. She stumbled and fell to her knees. She wondered if Curtis was anywhere near where she was, she didn't know which direction was north let alone where the cabin was. Kat took a deep breath to orient her sence of smell but she couldn't smell anything.
"Curt...is..." Her voice was at a whisper, scratchy and broken.

Jeff''s eyes watered. He saw his mother sitting on his arm. "Mama, don't leave me. I promise I don't like them, I'm not like them, I swear. I would never do anything to disobey you or God."

Aurora paused.
"Is it safe to go back that way alone?" She looked down the trail towards where he said that Katra was. "Is this stuff still volatile?"

Luka started crying. "Oh Jeff," she whispered. She leaned down and hugged him. She whispered into his ear. "Don't be sorry, baby. Don't you dare be sorry. You never did anything wrong."

"It can still burn you, yes," Curtis told her. "Katra stepped in some and burned her leg. Quite badly, may I add. Also, don't go too close. It can harm your lungs if you breathe it in too strongly, and we are quite far from a hospital." He looked longingly down the trail. "I must be off. I need to find out more about all of this while I still have the cover of darkness on my side." And so he loped off, following the tire tracks and letting Aurora make up her own mind.

Kat had to keep going, she didn't ware which direction she was going. She started half crawling half attemping to walk. She was having a hard time and was sure she would be covered with bruises for the next 24 hours. All the while she kept trying to find Curits's scent. She could say his name and make it sound coherant.
"Curtis...curtis..." Her voice was still only a whisper.

Jeff's voice just became a whine and the tears continued down his face. He came back to himself and saw that he had talked to Luka as if she were his mother. Jeff wanted to go hide underneither his bed and cry by himself. Instead he was pined down by Luka and Connor while crying like a baby infront of both of them

Luka got up and grabbed a mug of tea. She and Connor sat Jeff up and she put the mug in his hand. "Drink," she ordered. Now, Connor, if you could just watch him for a few moments...I have someone I need to...talk to." She left and went downstairs and burst into Yakov's room. She found him still curled up in pain, but she didn't care anymore. She grabbed his ear and pulled him up.

"Ow Ow Ow! What the hell?" Yakov finally registered that his sister was in the room and that she was the one causing him extra pain. "OW! Sis, yeesh, back off will ya?"

"What the hell is wrong with you?! How could you do this to such a sweet guy like Jeff? I don't think you quite understand just how badly you hurt him."

"What, that stupid flammer, whatever."

Luka slapped him across the face.

"Damn it Luka! What the hell?"

"I don't think I can ever call you my brother ever again." She left Yakov's room and headed back upstairs.

Yakov thought over what he had said to Jeff. Yeah, so maybe it had been a little harsh, but seriously, like he cared what some stupid flammer thought about him. The memory of those soft lips flooded back to him. "Ah s**t!"

What did he say to such a traumatized and upset man? Connor just bit his lip and scratched the back of his head.

Jeff just curled his knees to his chest and began shaking. He really didn't have anything to say.

Luka walked back into Jeff's room and saw the boys sitting in an akward silence. "Oh men are pathetic." She grabbed the other teas and handed one to Connor. "So, Jeff, I'm sorry to say that you didn't injure my brother nearly enough to keep him from spouting stupid from his mouth." She sipped her tea.

Jeff didn't know how to reply to that. "Uh..." He wiped his eyes and stood up with his tea in hand. "Too bad for me? I guess."

After running for a bit with no one behind him, it became obvious to Curtis that Aurora had made up her mind not to accompany him. That was fine. He just hoped that she would be safe and avoid the napalm remnants, or perhaps leave the forest altogether for a while.
He had not gone far when something stopped him.
It was not a sight, a sound, or even a smell. It was that sense. The sixth one that he had mentioned to Katra earlier. He stopped abruptly, skidding on the ground and nearly running into a pile of the cursed goo himself. Despite the skidding, he managed to turn around quickly and run back towards where he had parted from Katra with all the speed his strong legs could give him.

Connor sipped silently at his tea. He wasn't the best at dealing with tension, least of all when that tension involved three non-humans who could kill him if he said the wrong thing. Well, Luka wouldn't kill him and Jeff seemed only interested in harming himself. But Yakov... well, Connor had a feeling that he was still on his "To kill list".
He really just wanted to bolt for his room, and began to seriously consider it.

Kat felt something strange. She spoke up as loud as she could, which wasn't much but it was something. As she stumbled to the ground yet again she tried to shout, "Curtis!"

Luka rubbed Jeff's back. "Do you want some time? Will you be alright alone?" She didn't really think that there was too much more she could actually do. Thankfully, she seemed to have prevented a suicide attempt, but, honestly, she wasn't to particularly good at the whole relationship thing.

Jeff shrugged. "I'll be fine I promise." He didn't even attempt a smile. He shrugged again and sat downo n his bed.

Luka took Connor's hand and led him back towards his room. She called back at Jeff. "If you need absolutely anything, I want you to call me okay."
