      Galan (pronounced like "gallant") is a curious Goblin, more open-minded than most of his kind. While he isn't any more forthcoming about himself or his culture, he is honestly interested in the other races and their ways. He holds no prejudices and struggles to hold grudges. Galan has arrived in Below to attend Arkham Academy of the Arts, and by immersing himself in the cosmopolitan locale, he hopes to learn first-hand about other races and find his artistic inspiration in the beauty of the unique.

        Positive Traits
          gaia_angelleft Curious. Galan has an unquenchable thirst to learn, not only about his own studies, but about culture, other races, and the interests of those he cares for. He is especially curious about the cuisines of the other races and likes to experiment in the kitchen.
          gaia_angelleft Inspired. Galan does not suffer from art-block, if anything he suffers from not having enough time to put to paint all of the ideas and inspirations he gets; he is also quite fast in his work (a product of necessity to keep up with his muse).
          gaia_angelleft Forgiving. Galan can forgive nearly anything, even if deeply hurt; he never places blame on other for actions, but rather laments an event and honours others' needful journeys.
          gaia_angelleft Compassionate. Galan has a deep emotional affinity for others which helps him to have patience, understanding and concern for individuals of all walks of life.
          gaia_angelleft Receptive. Perhaps due to Galan's inherent quietude, he makes an excellent listener, actively interested in receiving others' thoughts, experiences, emotions, or troubles; it also makes him plucky in attempting others' suggestions with them if a strong-willed or exuberant individual takes the lead.


        Negative Traits
          gaia_angelleft Stagnant. Outside of his artistic endeavours, Galan has a difficult time initiating events or coming up with solutions to issues.
          gaia_angelleft Wallflower. Galan always leans towards passivity, so he often comes off as shy (which he isn't) or boring; especially in groups, he tends to hug the wall and watch.
          gaia_angelleft Exhausted. Galan's overactive imagination rarely lets him sleep, which often keeps him up half-the-night working on some study or idea; this insomnia may help to account for his passive nature--perhaps he simply doesn't have the energy to be exciting.
          gaia_angelleft Probing. Galan's curiosity can border on the verge of impertinence, combined with his knack for eking out people's secrets/fears/troubles, he ends up with an arsenal of information about others; while he doesn't actively manipulate or use this knowledge against others, he is too blithe to realize others might take advantage of his knowledge.
          gaia_angelleft Reticent. Like most Goblins, Galan is loathe to talk about himself or his culture--even when directly asked; this unwillingness to share makes him seem lop-sided in relationships, and hides a deep wealth of feeling that he does not discuss, forcing any potential loved ones to work long and hard to learn his inner workings and patience to stick it out until then.


        Enjoys
          gaia_angelleft The Arts. While Galan himself is a painting enthusiast, he appreciates all of the arts in all of their forms, including dance, sculpture, music, literature, poetry, etc.
          gaia_angelleft Tea. Galan finds great comfort in tea (especially because he often forgets his meals, and this is often what sustains him); also the warmth and social aspect it offers allows him to interact with others without feeling like he sticks out like a sore thumb.
          gaia_angelleft Fairy Tales. Galan believes these sort of cultural parables are the window to understanding culture, and sort of 'collects' fables and mythologies.
          gaia_angelleft Solace. Galan feels very fulfilled when he is able to assist another in distress, whether that is offering nuggets of wisdom or a shoulder to cry on, comforting others brings him a deep sense of peace.
          gaia_angelleft Reading Aloud. Both having others read to him, reading aloud to himself, or listening to Audio Books, there is something intimate about being wrapped up in a story.


        Dislikes
          gaia_angelleft Spotlight. One of Galan's worst-fears is being the centre of attention, and the idea of public speaking makes him break out in a cold sweat.
          gaia_angelleft Early Mornings. Due to his many and constant late nights, getting up (at any time) is Galan's least-favourite part of the day, but early mornings can render him uncharacteristically grumpy and short-tempered.
          gaia_angelleft Disrespect. Because of his compassion (both for those being offended and personally not understanding it), Galan is greatly put off by those who insult, make-fun-of, or put-down others. He cannot wrap his head around this behaviour or why anyone would do such a thing to another.
          gaia_angelleft Destruction. Since Galan puts such effort into creation, and because he sees it as nearly magical, destruction or defacing of another's creation is tantamount to evil in his books, and those who do it must be terrible individuals.
          gaia_angelleft The Cold. Because he is so thin, and often malnourished, he takes chill quite deeply and it can make him contract colds quite easily. For this reason, he tends to layer his clothing and when at home often wraps himself in layers of blankets.
          gaia_angelleft Sudden Loud Noises. Because Galan is always so observant and attentive, often becoming wholly absorbed in his focus, sudden loud noises set off anxiety attacks. Even though he loves the look of fireworks, he can only watch them with earmuffs and some distance to soften the noise. As for thunderstorms, let's not even go there!

      While Galan is poor at initiating contact, he chose to come to Asphodel Academy for the sole purpose of meeting others, especially members of other races.
      Galan is building his community, starting with his relationships with Malion & Laviticus.
