When Alek entered the room, Ashierra was staring past him as though she was still looking at the healer beyond. Pregnant? Children? They.... She didn't know what to feel. Happy was expected, but...
When Alek's question registered in her fogged mind, a shiver went through her body. Two extra mouths to feed, two extra bodies to tow around, two tiny bodies to constantly watch, two... babies. Looking up at Alek, she searched his face silently for a moment more. Would he be happy? "I- um-" She could barely say it. Frowning, she closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. She'd been from a family once... When it had been whole, it was full of love and friendship. That made a small smile creep to her lips. She was in love with Alek, and he with her. These were Alek's children. Putting things into perspective like that, her heart started to flutter with excitement. Ready or not, she was going to do her best for these babies.
She held out her hand for Alek to join her on the bed. Perhaps he should be sitting down too. She took both his hands, cheeks red and with a small, satisfied smile. "She said we're going to have to get comfortable in this house for a while longer... You're going to be a father." Her eyes were alert to his reaction, keeping in mind that her own initial shock hadn't been very enthusiastic.

Ashierra's silence made Alek uneasy as he approached the bed. What was it? Something serious - oh! She wasn't dying was she? The male looked horror struck by the idea and hesitated before climbing onto the bed next to her. Frowning he took in what she said, "For a while longer? Do you just need rest then - oh."
The soft 'oh' that escaped the male at hearing that he was a father had intercepted his initial moment of joy. Ashierra was going to have babies. But they were his children. Shaking his head to clear the shock and the mixed emotions, Alek gave Ashierra a wide grin. "Great! I mean sure we weren't expecting such a thing, but hey surprises are nice. This is a good house right?" He asked looking around the room, "Are you fine here for a bit more? I can look for another one if you want...but oh, we'll have to fix up that extra room for when they come if we stay. But you don't worry - I'll have help from town come in." Alek paused in his ramblings to look thoughtfully at the ceiling. This was going to be an experience all right.

Ashierra tilted her head ever so slightly, confused by the rambling. Surprises are nice? Since when? She smiled hesitantly. "Yes, we'll be fine here. At least until they're born. ...She said it wouldn't be much longer until they arrive. As long as you're okay here, we should get the help to fix the room soon." She reached back, letting her hand glide on her back over where the babies rested.
Babies... For some reason, she looked up at the ceiling, past it really, and gave a bashful smile. 'Mom... Dad... I'm doing it. Can you believe?'

"Ah, I'm fine here as long as you are. And yeah - I'll get the help tomorrow." Alek replied before shifting uneasily on the bed. What were they going to do? He looked around, but paused as he caught the expression on Ashierra's face. He couldn't ruin it for her. Especially now.
He'd wait and decide later - when they were born. That would work, it would have to. Alek smiled faintly before he bent down to kiss Ashierra's forehead, "Might as well get some sleep while we can then."

Blinking out of her revere, Ashierra blushed softly, leaning to rest her head on Alek's shoulder. "We'll see if I can." She said softly. Sleep had been fitful as of late anyway, and now the excitement of the news...
Effectively ruining the moment, a wave of nausea hit her and she ran off to the designated sick room to relieve herself. If babies were such a good thing, why did they made her body feel like crap?

"Alright." Alek leaned his head against Ashierra's and was about to snuggle against her until the sickness hit. Sighing softly, Alek worried about Ashierra and hoped that somehow the pregnancy would get better for her. Especially since she was already so far along. He wished that he had paid more attention to the mothers in his family. At least then he wouldn't be so ignorant about Ashierra's condition as he was. But it was too late for that.
Alek shut his eyes thinking. Tomorrow he would have the room started on and maybe even get some experience female taur to check on them daily or even maybe a live in so that Ashierra would have someone to help deliver? The cattaur shook his head. This was going to be something alright. He just hoped that everything turned out okay in the end - somehow.
((About time for babies to come? <3 ))

It wasn't long at all until the two baby boys were born. By then, the spare room was livable and baby safe. Within that room, Ashierra now sat on a soft fur cushion, simply looking at the two sleeping babies. It had been a few days, and her belly aches were finally abating. She was looking forward to not vomiting ever again. Right now though, all she was focused on were the tiny forms that were obvious blends of their parents. Her dark red hair here, Alek's facial stripes there... So dependent and defenseless, and so beautiful.

Two boys. Ashierra had given birth to two lovely little kits. Standing in the doorway, Alek noticed how the colorings on both made it obvious who their parents were. Alek couldn't help but to feel a bit of pride at seeing them both sleeping peacefully there with their mother watching over them.
He really loved them.
Which was why Alek was setting things up so that the three of them would be supported and taken care. The house was already under Ashierra's name and not his. The male shook his head, right now wasn't time to worry about that - though a part of him silently urged him to not waste time- but until Ashierra recovered....he would be here.

Sensing being watched, she turned her head to the doorway, smiling when she saw Alek. Alek her mate. Alek the father of her children. How often had she dreamed of this happening when she was a child? After the war on her clan and the loss of her family, she'd forgotten those dreams. Left them trampled and lost to the sands. Yet here she was...
"I bet your proud of yourself." She said teasingly. "You managed to get two more Aleks running around." A little girl would have been nice, but she wouldn't replace either son for anything.
Slowly, Reed arose from a dreamless sleep. The only sign of his waking was a gentle flick of his tail and eyes opening. He smiled when he saw both parents so close and lifted his head to see them better, purring gently.

"Of course." Alek replied with a smirk, "Sorry, love, but ya can't deny my strong influence." He winked playfully before moving to wrap his arms around Ashierra. It did seem to be some family thing about there always being more boys than girls. Though it wouldn't have been so bad to have a little Ashy running around with the boys. The thought made the cattaur pause. He really was getting attached.
Ears flicking forward in interest, Ross found himself woken up by all the different noises. Looking around he spotted his parents and let out a soft meow before wiggling closer to his brother's warm body.

Snuggling into Alek's arms, Ashierra chuckled softly. "Obviously." Seeing the boys waking, she padded over to them, tugging Alek along with her. She reached out, running her fingers through their hair. "Alek... Is this all real?" She sighed softly, shaking her head. "It was painful bringing them in, but, now that they're here... I can hardly believe I helped create them. ..It's almost easy to think that everything ended back in the mountains, and this is just a dream. Maybe a vision of what could have been."
His purr growing slightly more pronounced, he wrapped his forepaws and arms around Ross, nuzzling against him, though his eyes remained on his parents, enjoying the gentle petting from his mother.

"I would hope so." Alek's reply was quiet as he looked at their two boys. Now that Reed and Ross were here with them, Alek couldn't imagine the boys not existing. Though...He shook his head. No time to worry about that. Not today.
"What a vision you're having then." Alek replied with a laugh, "But no, this is real." He lightly pinched her arm, "See? You're not dreaming." His purr was light and playful as he looked at their sons, "And all of this is especially real to those two."
Ross snuggled against Reed before blinking his sleepy eyes at his parents. His purr was fainter than his brother's but his tail was waving happily.

Feeling the light pinch, she had to chuckle, knowing she'd pretty much asked for it. "That's good to know."
Grinning, she leaned down and carefully picked up Ross, happy when no stomach alerts sounded. She cradled him to her chest, nuzzling her nose into his hair. "This is real..."
Parted from his brother, Reed made little noise other than a curious roll of his tongue. Attention time? Seeing Ross nuzzled, he rolled onto his back to expose his belly, silently asking for affection as well.

Alek nuzzled his mate before agreeing with a soft, "Yes." Seeing Ashierra holding his son made his stomach twist in happiness and guilt. Especially when he looked down to Reed. Hesitation showed on his face before he reached down to tickle his son's stomach before scooping him up as well.
"Mew." Ross let out a happy squeak as his mother cradled him close. His little fingers reached out and claimed strands her her hair as he snuggled against her.

Ashierra saw Alek's little hesitation, but wrote it off at being first-time-father jitters. It was a huge change, having babies to watch over. She wouldn't have blamed him. ....It was a picture, seeing Alek holding their son.
She rocked gently on her paws without thinking about it and tried to gently tug her hair from Ross' hands. "I'm sure we can find you something better to play with than my hair." She cooed in an amazingly sweet, un-Ashierra like voice as she turned to look for something babysafe for him to hold onto.
Now purring loudly, Reed laid where Alek held him, happy simply being held, looking up contently at his father. His tail slowly curled and uncurled, the only movement of the baby other than the gentle rise and fall of his chest.
