"I'm sorry for getting you up," Kaleb said, his enthusiasm dimming somewhat. "I-if you were going back to bed after I eat, I-I can rub your ears for you, if you want..." He wasn't sure how to best repay his partner for the delight the chocolate milk had brought, but he did know Riley enjoyed having his ears rubbed.

He opened his mouth to answer then winced as his phone went off. Leaning over he yanked it off the table, "God damn it it's way to ******** early in the morning."
He probably shouldn't have curses at his boss but it was early and he didn't want to be awake much less on the phone. After a few minuets his shoulders slumped. "Oh thank god ..." Snappng the phone shut he leaned back onto the arm of the couch. "... i can go back to bed, and you can rub my ears since ya woke me up"

"I'll rub your ears because you got me chocolate milk. You were already awake when I started bothering you," Kaleb replied with a lopsided smile, and finally detached himself so he could eat his breakfast. The toast had gotten a little cold around the edges, but it was still good. "You don't have to be at work this morning?" He asked between bites.

His face was burring against the couch so his words were slightly muffled. "No .... Rufus's takin tha day off." Something about tired of listening to old men b***h and needed some peace and quiet.

Kaleb smiled as he nibbled on an apple slice. That was good news, it meant Riley wouldn't have to take him in to work, or leave him alone for an entire day at his apartment. After the groceries he would have been fine with another half hour on his own, but an entire day alone at Riley's apartment would have been too much.
"You're going to stay in bed all morning?" he asked, briefly wondering if his lazy partner would just try to lounge around in bed all day.

"Yes." He'd lay in bed the rest of the morning and Kaleb could pet him since he'd made him get up. Perfectly fair trade.

Kaleb had a sneaking suspicion that if Riley was staying in bed all morning, he wouldn't be able to go anywhere either. He was more like a heated pillow with his messed up ankle, now he could just be picked up and placed wherever he was wanted. He finished off his toast quickly, and opened his bottle of chocolate milk with a smile.

He was half asleep by the time Kaleb got done with his toast. He wasn't a morning person and lazy so he could sleep almost anywhere any time.

Once he realized Riley was just going back to sleep where he had flopped, Kaleb was quick to finish off his chocolate milk, and then wolfed down three slices of apple. "Okay, I'm done," he said, knowing his partner would rather handle putting things away if it kept him off his injured ankle.

"Mmng." He turned his head and looked sleepily at the apple. Dragging himself up off the couch he took the left over fruit to the kitchen to cover and shove back in the fridge. Coming back to the couch he scooped Kaleb up once again and headed for his bed.

Kaleb made a grab at the large book he had left on the couch next to him just as Riley picked him up, so he could have something to do once he was done rubbing his partner's ears. He was well aware the unexpected weight of the book might throw Riley off balance but he didn't think he would be dropped because of it.

He grumbled something about bricks before he dropped Kaleb onto the bed. Crawling back under the covers he planted his face against the pillows and sighed.

Kaleb pushed the massive textbook to a corner of the bed and then snuck over to rub at Riley's ears, as promised.

His body slumped and he purred slightly the moment Kaleb started to rub his ears. It was almost worth having to get up though he figured that getting petted without having to get up would have been better.

Kaleb smiled, and shifted a bit to find a comfortable position so he wouldn't wear out his hands so fast. It was easy to forget that how intimidating Riley had seemed when they first met, since he was so tame when it came to things like sleeping and having his ears rubbed. The healer was starting to figure out what places Riley liked best, and he gave those spots most of his attention.
