At first Kat's playing caught Curtis off guard. He stared at her for a moment before grinning wildly and jumping at her.

Connor didn't need to be told again. He finished his supper, polished off his drink in one swig and stood up so quickly that his chair fell over.

Jeff grumbled. "Why can't it be new years yet?"

Kat nimbly jumped out of his reach a number of times before allowing herself to be caught when she jumped onto the futon. She laughed and giggled as she went down.

Luka grabbed Connor and bolted out the door, much to the amusement of everyone else at the table. Once at the barn, she threw the door open, quickly filled the tank on the fourwheeler, lept onto the seat and started it up. "Coming?"

Holly took Connor and Luka departure as a sign that leaving was acceptable. She quickly excused herself and disappeared out to her studio.

Yakov smiled. "Because then I actually have to share you with the rest of the world."

Holly stopped when she realised Kyle was following her. "Sorry, I kind of ran off on you there."

Holly shrugged and laughed nervously as she took his hand and pulled him towards the studio. "Actually, I'm more worried about me and what I'm gonna do when you leave."

Kyle looked at her quizzically, they hadn't spoken about the time that he had to leave her, ever. "You wont have anything worth while to paint," he jested with a grin.

Holly smiled. "Nothing." She slid into her studio and sprawled across the couch. "When exactly do you leave?"

Yakov's grin widend. "Gorgeous, you are a complete b*****d and I love you, but I think I'll go with something a little less crude." Yakov's grin faded into shock. "Oh my god, those words just came out of my mouth."
