According to her no. Talking right on the computer means sounding like a 12 year old pre-pubscent half-brain dead Justin Timberlake loving twit.
She used me in her Linguistics study. Apparently I don't talk like 'regular' girls IRL either. My voice doesn't raise at the end of sentences frequently, unlike my 'peers'.

And, let me guess, every third word out of your mouth isn't "like"? xd
I think she should have replaced the word "regular" with "ditzy". >>;

I'd say I'm a combination of both. Good English online vs. ditz IRL. I know this now because I say "like" a lot, unintentionally.

I catch myself saying "He was like, 'blah blah blah'" instead of saying, "He said, 'blah blah blah'".
That reminds me, I read an article in the newspaper a while back. I can't remember what the article is about, but they quoted a girl as having said, "He was, like, a really awesome person." I know they're supposed to quote word for word, but it made me laugh.

I definitely say, "he was like," and not, "he said". And the person writing the article probably snickered once or thrice while quoting it as well. xD
@ Mojo: BAH! Old names die hard, huh? =D

I'm a stickler for proper writing. I have been known to use LOL, BRB, ROFL, OMG, WTF, etc. from time to time, but for the post part my MSN typing is the same as when I post here. What's the point of shortening stuff to get your message across quickly if nobody can understand a damn thing you type? neutral
And anyone who uses chatspeak to write an essay should be sterilized. Like, right now. 3nodding

I'm not sure if this is worse than writing an essay in chatspeak, but it's apparently fashionable to say OMG, WTF, LOL, BRB... etc... As in actually say it. Like oh-em-gee, double-you-tee-eff, lawl, bee-ar-bee... Now that really disturbs me.

I do that all the time. :/ Not IRL, but on MSN. I prefer "be are be" to "BRB". Dunno why.

If you're going to write "be are be," wouldn't it be just as easy to write "be right back"? See, I just don't understand these things.

Sure it would, but it defeats the purpose.

I have a tendancy to actually say lol. ._.
But other than that, yeah, I'm sitting pretty in the 'proper grammar and punctuation' boat.
