rolleyes I'll never understand what it is with boys and video games. It baffles me. I honestly can't think of anything more boring and uncomfortable than playing a video game for more than an hour. Unless it's Spyro or Crash, but they don't count.

It's easier to get a video game running than finding people to play cards with, setting up a board game or getting out for sports?

The One And Only Pentavus Funny fact: 30 PS3 @ the Atlantic Super Store in Edmundston. 0 Wii in a 100 mile radius... Imagine that fact in Ontario, where EVERYBODY is riushing for Wiis and there are PS3s sitting on the shelves. I'm getting mine on Friday, rushing in the morning to get it. Hopefully I can get the WiFi connection though. The video game ever is DDR. I'd play that one for hours if I could stand the workout mode for more than 40 minutes at a time. xd

Gaming has taken monumental strides, especially with the advent of online play. It's no longer just a time sink; it's a broad, lively community of people and networks.
I play World of Warcraft, for example. Now I do know certain individuals from my guild there that take it to the level of obsession. But I have also heard of individuals getting married from meeting there. Making lasting friends from meeting there. It's not much different from Gaia, except there's a subscription and it's 100x more fun. Teamwork, competition, creativity (to some extent), customization, tactics.. It employs deductive logic and reflexes.
Of course, all things in moderation. But it's little wonder games have seen a resurgence of popularity.
Still, I miss the days of Super Mario, Zombies Ate My Neighbours, Secret of Mana, and to a more recent extent, the multiplayer mayhem of Perfect Dark.
At heart, every guy's inner child is a gamer geek. It's just unfortunate that mine is better than theirs. sad
