"Sure! Seeing as how I still want to know." she laughed.

"Alright," he said, bending down and picking up the map (which he'd dropped) and handing it to her for the moment. "It's a map of the castle. It turns out there are a lot more secret passages than anyone I know could've guessed--at least, in the original design. Some of them might have become impassable through lack of use, or might not have been built in."

"This is cool!" she said, her eyes scanning the map in her hands. "Have you looked for and/or found any of them? Just imagine what could be there! All the old books and things from before we were born and maye beyond that. And the historical value of anything there would be immesurable." Kana rambled. She was a bit of a history nerd and she had a bad habit of rambling when nervous. She realized she was doing it and turned a faint pink, but she couldn't stop herself. It was as if her mouth was operating on a different keel than her brain.

"Er..um.." Merazu said in the short instant between her questions and exclamations, unable to think of an answer in the time before another one came up. Finally he managed to say, "My brothers and I have been through a few of them, and the servants use a few, but the rest, um..."

Kana looked at him. "They're unexplored, right?" she asked, looking up brightly. "We should go check them out!"

"But seriously, they might be dangerous," he said. "See this marking for that passage, and how it looks really more like a room?" he pointed to one on the map. "It's a place that was enchanted to enhance magic. One of my brothers hid in there to practice something, not knowing that, and nearly killed himself with what should've been a weak candle-flame spell. For all I know, these other markings indicate traps for intruders," he continued, pointing to a few unexplored ones. "I'm not saying we shouldn't, but it would do some good to be careful about it. Though, I guess maybe one without any markings would be safe to try first. Like maybe this one..." he pointed at one that led from one of what was now a servant's-quarters hallway to the courtyard garden.

"Or that could be the most dangerous. You never know." she shrugged. "But in any case, nothing is dangerous if you take the proper precautions." Kana's daredevil side was beginning to manifest itself. Her eyes were sparkling with excitement.

"I guess so. The question is which precautions to take, though. Should we bring shields in case of an arrow trap, or a sword in case one of the statues comes to life as a trap, or a pair of rubber boots in case the floor is enchanted with electricity? We can't take more than one or two of some things without arising suspicion, and bringing stuff too heavy would be a problem in case we needed to escape."

"You worry too much. Where's the excitement if you're going to freak about things like that? I used to go exploring old caves with my parents. I got shot with a poison-tipped arrow once. But I'm still alive, aren't I? And I'm not kidding either. Look." Kana turned around and pulled down the shoulder of her dress to reveal a decent-sized scar on her shoulder. "If you know how to treat your injuries, you'll be fine."

He blushed slightly at her showing skin, but got over it before she would look at him. "I guess so. Might as well try..." He was slightly noncommittal it, but at least not stuttering.

"Yes!" Kana cheered, almost tackling him with the hug she gave him. "Oh, how should I address you? Your Highness? Merazu? What?"

The hug flustered him, so he didn't managed to answer for about a full minute. Finally he said, "Er, M-Merazu is fine."

He said, "Er, it's nothing. I should get used to it anyway...hrm, let's just go after that passageway. The servants' quarters are that way..." he started off toward one of the several halls leading out of the dining hall.
