"Death waits for no man, Wife." Gelio said sarcastically. He walked up to the door and shouldered it open, looking down a hallway filled with rooms. "Bloody hell, what is this place?"

Iman groaned. His head was sore with a sharp headache and he was being shaken awake some way or another from movement. His fingers tensely dug into his pillow as he arched his shoulders. It occurred to him that he might have fallen asleep on his friend's couch and was being shaken to get up for something reasonably important. He pushed up with his arms against the bed, lifting his upper body from the mattress, his head dangling freely and hair falling around it. Slowly, Iman opened his eyes. It took him at least four seconds, but gradually his brow furrowed. Quickly, he lifted his head and looked around with one sweeping glance, instantly seeing another person at his side. Startled, and letting out a yelp, he tried to scramble out of bed, but got his feet tangled in the sheets and fell out. Slightly sobered by the fall, he placed a hand on his throbbing temple and asked aloud, a hysterical whisper, "What in hell did I do at the bar last night?"

"A good question, but perhaps not the correct one under the circumstances. Because I don't go to bars." Demi said in a low soft voice. She gathered an armful of sheets up around her chest, suddenly feeling shy and uncomfortable around this strange and unknown young man. Her eyes darkened for a moment and she leaned across the bed to reach out a hand to help him up from the floor where he had fallen. "Perhaps introductions are in order."

"'H'you, you're worried about introductions in a situation like this? I, I have no idea where I am!" Iman managed to sputter out. But then he sighed and his head drooped. "I'm called Deyanira. Who on Earth are you?" Iman asked, looking up at the girl. "And why was I in a bed with you? And if this doesn't have to do with the party last night, why does it feel like I have a hangover that could kill a large beaver?" The head on Iman's temple rubbed the skin it was touching. He hesitated from her hand. She was entirely too composed for him to trust her as they were.

Demi murmered out something that sounded along the lines of, "My mother raised me to be polite." She withdrew her hand after sensing that Deyanira wasn't going to take it. She placed both hands in her lap, keeping both eyes on him. "My name is Demi, and I have no idea how I ended up in bed with you. The last thing I have a clear memory of, is simply having a drink of water before going to bed." She frowned slightly, then brushed a strand of hair back from her face. Something on the small bedside table caught her eye and she reached out and grabbed it. Unrolling the paper, Demi's eyes widened in surprise, then narrowed. "I can't believe this."

"I can't particularly believe it either," muttered Iman, thinking she was still talking about the unlikelihood of the situation. He looked up and finally bothered to untangle himself from his sheets. He was wearing his flannel pajama pants and everything, Iman noticed. Iman walked around the bed to see what it was that Demi had and, putting one knee on the bedside and looking somewhat over her shoulder, he asked, "What's this you've got?" He furrowed his brow when he noticed four signatures at the bottom of the paper, two of which were his own parents'.

"It's a marridge certificate." Demi choked out. She handed it to him to look at, feeling a little dazed. She was married. No, correction. She had been married, without any knowledge or rational consent, by the parents she had loved and trusted for her entire life. Ouch. "I'm married." Without warning, two tears trickled slowly down her cheeks.

Iman took the certificate and looked it over. On the back was explained that it had been their parents' doing and wishes, and that they'd be living in the mansion provided and stocked. Iman was stuck in a state of disbelief. "How the hell-a** did they marry us without our conscious consent? Aren't there laws in place that make that damn near impossible?" The expression across his face was a twisted concoction of being horrified, dumbfounded, and aghast. But that quickly shifted to puzzlement as he looked up. "Are... you... crying?"

She brushed a hand across her eyes to wipe away the tears. "Yes . . . no. I'm sorry. I shouldn't be crying. It's stupid." Demi said, getting a firm hold on her emotions. "I just didn't . . . this wasn't what I expected when I got married." A deep breath steadied her more, and she shifted a little to get a good look at her husband. He was pleasing to look at, and seemed to posess an interesting personality, and he seemed to be quite intelligant. "I really don't know how this happened, or how we can . . . if we can . . . if we should fix it."

"It's alright, it's alright, I didn't mind it, but I didn't expect to look up and see a real emotional reaction when I'm still debating whether or not there's a camera hidden somewhere in here." He shifted his eyes around breifly. Iman continued, "But hey, I can beat you in the disappointment category. I was hoping to not get married in the first place. My practices are too..." he trailed off, a fearful look glancing across his face. He reached into the pocket of his pants, only to relax. From his pocket, he pulled a small voodoo doll on a string and finished his statement. "Are too unusual to allow it." He looked away from his doll. "It as simple as a divorce, right?"

"You practice voodoo? That's fastinating. I've never met anyone who actively followed it before." Demi looked keenly interested, and seemed to momentarily put the fact that she had been married to a strange person and was trapped in a house somewhere on the back burner. But it came back again. "A divorce means we need a lawyer. And somehow, I don't think that we are meant to be able to get one." Demi looked at the small voodoo doll, then traced a thin leather and chain thong that rested about her neck.

"That's likely because witchdoctors such as myself have a nasty habit of not reproducing," Iman offered. "Not many to meet. Not that we're the only voodoo artists. As for not getting a lawyer, we've been in here less than three minutes, so I wouldn't jump to any conclusions." Slowly buut surely, the reality of the moment dawned on Iman. "...Wait... wait a moment... I'm married to you?"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 03, 2007 7:42 pm

Demi arched her eye brows, but kept her mouth closed for a moment as she thought of a proper reply. "You're a witch doctor? That's interesting. How come not many have children?" She continued to play with the thin choker around her neck. "By my estimation, we've actually been here about eight hours or more, unless my internal clock is off." The hand that wasn't resting at her neck came up to finger comb her long hair. "Yes, you're married to me. I'm sorry."
