Falk just continued to parry her moves, or dodge them, but without leaving her any ground. "You're being very harsh on him... considering you knew him as intimately as you did," Falk verbally parried her accusation. "He was given a fair offer after all." Falk didn't seem very moved at all, unlike the "good" captain. At the moment, the battle for victory raging down below was the least of his concerns, even though the two of them were prime targets in clear sight, considering they were at higher ground than everyone else. However, anyone with a speck of pride, morals or brain (in his crew's case) would know enough not to interfer.

She continued to strike, not tiring in the least despite the fact she was attacking quite ferociously. "Fair? Seems to me he was only thinking of himself, no matter what the offer was,"She said, gritting her teeth a little towards the end of her statement. She didn't like this fight. She wanted it to be over, and quickly, but most important of all was to make sure he died.

"I would think that he would have known that. Or is that more something you, the whipped dog of the Navy would know about?"at this her eyes narrowed a bit more, as if that would keep her temper from slipping and accidently using her manipulation.

Falk's eyes narrowed, but only slightly, at her statement and suddenly he was on offensive, locking blades with her. "The crew was dead or doomed at that time," he nearly hissed at her. "The captain was an air manipulator and would have been killed on the spot, had anyone been aware. Fahr always had a strong will to survive, unlike you. However, you've got a very strong sense of pride... and for that I admire you," he finished before pushing her backwards and breaking apart their locked sword. That line had not been in past tense... "I know you so I know it's not likely, but would give you an offer... if you would only listen," he said, eyes glued on her as he awaited both her reply and next move.

"My ears are open to the world, but if you want me to hear it you had better keep that deceptively eloquent tongue of yours going before I kill you,"she said, not stopping her attack even a little, though now feeling a little bit of a spark as he chose to fight back. At least now it seemed like he was trying; to defeat him when all he did was defend would have left a bitter taste in her mouth.

Oddly, it took that long for her to realize what he said about admiring her. Once it clicked in her mind, she felt her face pinken slightly, though she tried to hide it as feigned exhaustion....Pretending to be tired was better than...that.

"I would have you take my offer but I'm not going to force you," he said as he continued to block her incoming hits but at least he wasn't only on the defensive line this time around. Was he giving her some resistance so that she might be more open to what he had to say?

"I once had this thought in the back of my head but didn't entertain it. The sea was wide and wild back then." He went in close again, locking blades and staring her in the eye. "Fahr was doomed, a dead man. The plan was to go along and make a dramatic escape right at the gallows... but an offer was made by a vice executive of the Company from Asura, it was hard to resist." This time, he pulled back to unlock their blades instead of pushign her away. "However, nothing comes without a price, I'm sure you understand that, Fahr knew that too." He gave a sweeping slash that she dodged. "The price was paid... but as it stands now they owe me one." Had he been able to, he would have reached out his hand... but with the audience below(despite them all being engaged at the moment, you could never be too sure, you know) a look would have to suffice. "Come with me. Surrender or be defeated, I'll even draw blood if you want me to, and I'll force them to agree if I so have to. For old times' sake."

For a moment, Lance faltered. Was this for real? Maybe it was a trick...Could she believe this man...? This man...of all the people she thought she would endow her trust to in her life time, he was not on the list of those she had assumed it would return to.

"If I were to accept, there would be conditions...Like the crew. Sink the ship if you must, but spare the crew. Drop them at any of the usual ports, and claim them all dead...A few of my men are already gone, so if you need corpses to prove your story, they are there,"She spoke cautiously, and very deliberately, determined to make her point...But since he had stopped, her blade had also been still.

"As for drawing blood..."she shut her eyes and held them that way for a moment. Upon opening them she said "a scar, here,"as she traced a line across her right cheek with her finger, "any other injuries to make your story plausible are fine, but that is the one thing I demand." If he asked why, she would not tell him, but she needed a mark. Some sign of the deal she was making...if he wouldn't' do it, she would.

The man stared at her as she spoke. The crew? Not much would be left of it, he feared, but still... Sure, he was the vice admiral du Ruine, he didn't need to explain himself if he now failed to bring in any to the gallows once or twice but... what she was asking was near impossible. "Depending on how many will be left, this might be hard or near impossible... I can't promise you anything except that I'll try." He would need to figure that one out... a good one too.

At the mention of a scar on her cheek he seemed to hesitate, obviously disliking the demand. Why on the cheek? It would be visible for the whole world. But then again, maybe that was the point? It made him want to sigh though. "Fine," he said finally. "Prepare yourself." The words had almost not left his mouth before he was moving again, going into a fierce offensive. This one was much worse than what he had done before. This one held no restraints and was his true ability, unhindered by anything. Dangerously strong hits with a deadly accuracy. He just hoped he wasn't too good...

"I'm always prepared,"She said with a little bit of a smirk crossing her lips. Erica too had been playing earlier, and now dodged his blade with a turn of the body and an arch of her back, almost as though in a dance, and returned his compliment of power with her own.

"What about your wife to be?"asked the captain, smirking just a little; of course she had kept up on his life...It was hard on its own not to keep up with news of the man, as he was feared by many pirates. Dozens of plots against him had sprung up over the years in pubs throughout the pirate ports, many including her death...of course, none of those pitiful conspirators knew the truth.

A lunge, and steel on steel sent sparks into the air. The two combatants were fighting with ferocity that fit them. Lance was not going to allow this fight the appearance that she had thrown it, that much is for sure; she would give it all she had.

Returning the favor, Falk gave her a small, lopsided smile that was nearer a smirk than a smile, never letting his guard down but also making sure he didn't go into defensive. "What about her?" was the calm come back. "She remians because it was easiest that way. She really loved..." There was a pause, no more than a moment though, then... "Heads up!" Falk said and something gleamed in the sunlight.

The tip of the admiral's blade was now red colored. "One," he stated calmly, indicating her injury. "I don't want to hurt you too much but I will hurt you as I must." His stance held no remorse, clear, calm and cold like the Navy's Lion he was said to be.

She nodded slightly, a little smirk of thanks across her lips. The wound bled, actually a surprising amount, but she ignored it and continued the fight. "Do what you need to. If it will help spare my crew I'd let you push me to the edge of death with your sword, and even past,"That seemed entirely true; there was no lie in Lance's eyes when she said it, just to let him know how very much the first condition meant to her.

"I suppose it will be inconvenient to have me simply appear then,"She added, returning to the topic she had brought up before the wound as she continued the battle. Another lunge this time for his torso, fictitiously but convincingly depicting the intent to kill.

Falk nodded at her words then smiled slightly as he parried one of the attacks. "Well, yes... but lucky for us, the dead do not walk again. I'm sorry to say, but Erica Lance has to die, just like Fahr Vinters had to do," he told her before lunging forward, ripping her clothes just beneath her breasts and giving her a light cut. That could have been a deadly cut...

"However, won't my lady allow me to get to know her better?" he asked, an almost playful smirk touching his lips as he drew backwards again after his attack. "Feore is such a big country, after all."
PostPosted: Wed Nov 28, 2007 4:38 pm

"Well, I suppose it is..."She replied with a bit of a cool smile. The second cut wasn't as bad as the first, but the piror had indeed been to suit her request and leave a scar. Of course, she couldn't help but feel a little strange as he said she had to die in order to live. It was odd...a very odd thought.

What of the crew that did manage to survive, if any, as well? They would certainly know she had not been killed, unless Falk could wound her very convincingly. She sighed a little bit remorsefully, feeling this was perhapse a selfish deal to make, but then realized that in truth this was the only thing she could do for them; if she rejected it, not only would she be killed, but all those who stood some chance of surviving through this deal would have all hope lost.

She reassured herself again, knowing this not only bennefitted her, but them as well. "Of course, her death is going to have to be at least convincing,"Lance said preparing for another strike, and to be hit again.

Falk nodded. "As you wish, my lady," he said with a small grin before making a quick slash. There was something to that, making it convincing. He would place her in a separate cell, as far from her crew as possible and have her wounds healed so that she "wouldn't die from the gallows that awaited her" but he didn't wish to leave too many scars. She had a very beautiful body. It would be a shame to mar it. But just like it had been for him... some sacrifices were needed.

His stroke bit deeper this time, going from left to right just above her breasts and ending near her throat at the right shoulder. It was deeper than the last one, that was for sure, and more blood would flow but hopefully it wasn't too deep. When was it enough so that he could hit the cutlass out of her hand, he wondered?

The sudden thought about how the rest of the ship and battle fared hit him. He didn't know, that was for sure, he had been concentrating completely on her.

The third wound was different from the first two. She could actually feel how much it slowed her, but she wasn't going to stop trying because of a few scratches. "Not bad,"she said, honestly a little suprised by it; she had been blocking. Perhaps he had improved from the last time she fought him...

Whe paused, only for that split second, she realized he was examining the rest of the battle...She too looked to the lower ship, to see the damage...several bodies lay on the deck, though it was hard to tell who had fallen...there were at least three of her manipulators, and at least two of Falk's that Lance could see, and she assumed there were more...She could only hope some of them would survive to get away.

"You won't see them again after this," Falk said, turning away from the scene below and back onto her again. They had to finish this, but none too quickly, of course. He didn't need to tell her to prepare herself again, just by speaking he knew he had her attention.

And then they were on again. And few cuts and parries and then he got in another hit on her left hip. Not too deep but then again, there wasn't so much flesh to hit in that area. More offensive thrusts and more blocks and then he had managed to hit just above her right knee too. That should do it as far as visual go. Well, at least he hoped so.

"Prepare yourself. I know your pride is strong and this is where you're going to have to stand with some abusive treatment. But if I survived it, so can you. I know you're that strong," Falk said, giving her a smile. It would be the last smile he gave her until they either were alone again or back on Asura. "Come, Erica, let's play theatre," he said with a grin and then sent her cutlass flying from her hand and over the deck behind her.
