"Ah..." Farsiris held back the urge to point out that she had babbled as opposed to providing advice. He seemed happy, he had cheered up considerably and as a result she wasn't going to shatter those illusions. She wasn't full of advice, she just made observations and hoped they were right on many occasions - really someone was going to figure that out someday and point it out!

"You make me sound like some sort of angel," She chuckled softly, flicking her tail against her flank as she continued down the path. Honestly, her hooves were on their own in terms of the direction they wandered in for she had no immediate idea of where they were headed. "I would advise that you don't do that because I am not one of those!"

"Although I am flattered that you would compare me to something so serene," she mused after a few moments. There were times when she had wondered what it would be like to have wings like an angel, sometimes it looked fun to be able to fly. However, she had long since come to the conclusion that while angels could be free in the air, she could be free in her own ways too.

...Just so long as she didn't have to gallop for long distances, she often ended up tumbling forward if she did. It wasn't that she was clumsy but running was just not her strong point.

"You never need to apologise to me though, and you should never feel bad about being yourself either..." She had already said that she wanted to meet real soquili, so why would she want to meet someone hiding behind a mask? "...But, I do have one question..."

"Do fish bite?"
PostPosted: Sun Jul 06, 2008 7:32 am

The mare was much too modest for her own good, and Huojin smiled as she spoke of herself. "But you are that serene! Though, a part of me is glad you aren't actually an angel in the sky, since that would mean you'd be off flying on your own all the time probably doing justice, and I'd rarely see you since I wouldn't be able to keep up." She'd be like one of those figments of the imagination angels or something, so he'd never actually see her.

"But hey, you can still be angelic in spirit." And with that, he only nodded happily, before almost falling over at her next question about fish. Truthfully, he didn't know the actual answer, but he knew fish had a tendency to bite. "Well, some fish bite, I know that. Where we are going, I have never seen the fish bite though. Usually when I put my hooves in the water they get too afraid, since I am big compared to them." he then paused, and wondered if he was making her worried. "If any fish tries to bite you, I will squash them! But I really think you will be alright." he let out a light chuckle as he finished his words, and strode his eyes forward on the upcoming creek.

"And in perfect timing, we are here you know!" The creek was as lovely as he had remembered, and from the rumble of their footsteps, he could see the fish coming up to shore, looking to see if the heavy footsteps brought food, just as they always did. "Now, those are fish!" and they were as fat as he had remembered! "Want to take a closer look?"

He was full of flattery, perhaps it was the manner in which he had been brought up but she for one was not accustomed to it. Yes, her mentor had confirmed that she was a very beautiful young mare but Yei had also been very aware of ensuring she didn't let this go to Farsiris' head. As a result Farsiris was secure in how she looked and could be satisfied with her own reflection but she didn't obssess over it.

Nevertheless, when he began to answer her questions she at first found herself wary of them. It was only after a few moments of quiet consideration that she decided that there must be other reasons behind their behaviour. Hunger, territorial views of their creek - who knew? However, she couldn't be angry at their behaviour because she was the visitor.

"Oh no, don't squash them!" She gasped as she trotted behind the stallion and shook her head, "I'm sure they don't mean to bite - it is their home after all they could just be territorial!" Ah, the idea of him squishing a fish wasn't the most appealing and she could only hope he was teasing her to make her feel more comfortable.

Regardless she soon cast these worries aside as they drew near the creek and he indicated what fish were to her. Her eyes widened after a few moments and she came to the conclusion that they were the most unusual creatures she'd ever seen. They were very shiny but...

"They have no legs!" She stated in surprise.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 11, 2008 5:59 am

Huojin chuckled at Farsiris' reaction. He kept forgetting that she had never seen these creatures before, so it was natural for her to be surprised at their appearance. "No, they don't have legs! And I promise, I won't squish them. They have tails and fins because those things help them swim." Huojin the lifted one of his legs and gently put in the water, and watched as the fish scurried away from the movement. After they got comfortable with his non-moving behavior, they started swimming around his leg again as if he was not there. "Fish are interesting, my mother has told me many tales about fish, I guess she finds them as symbolic or something." He rolled his eyes somewhat, since his mother's stories were probably crazy anyways.

"She once told my brother and I that fish have an incredibly small brain, and that's why they are so random in the water. I think my mom used to stare at them all day since she didn't do much a lot at the creek where we grew up, so she watched their behavior I guess." Huojin let his own eyes watched as the fish fumbled around over each other. They were rather aggressive for being so fat, and that was hilarious to notice.

"Do you like fish, then?" he then asked, while turning to look at the mare. "There are all kinds of fish in different bodies of water, and I've heard that even Kelpi, which are fish-like Soquili, live around fish as well." Though, he had never seen one, and he always wondered how much that was true...

"They could seem symbolic," Farsiris flicked her tail against her flank and snorted to brush the mane from her eyes. Glancing down at something was one thing, but she had turned her head completely and thus her mane gladly tumbled into her eyes. She didn't mind though, given that what she was inspecting was far more interesting than she could have originally thought. After all, creatures like this didn't exist in the mountains from what she recalled...

"They seem to free," she tilted her head to the side, watching as certain flicks caused the sun to reflect from their scales. "And sometimes they almost look like escape rays of light," she mused softly. Each fish had since become content with Huojin's hoof and she could do little more than smile at some of their antics. While some were considerably more peaceful, even she could see the ones that were more clumsy and 'disrespectful' to their kin - they were almost like other animals that way.

"I do like fish," she replied lifting her gaze and offering one of her smiles. "My mentor once told me of Kelpi, she was on the shores when they came once...but she has seen so much." Farsiris couldn't help but giggle at the thought of Yei. The Elder mare had a mountain of stories and tales, she could recall much and mere 'myth' to soquili of Farsiris age could almost always be confirmed or denied by the elder. Farsiris had always loved those stories when she was younger but the prospect of meeting a Kelpi was somewhat intimidating.

"I wonder what it feels like to live under the water, it always seems so cold..."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 13, 2008 10:28 am

"I really am glad you like them." he then admitted, while moving his nose down to take a quick sip of water. As he touched the water and noticed the movement, he noticed the fish scurry around as if their everything had been ruined. "Calm down, little buddies." he then said, while glancing at the crazy fish. "I guess some animals eat fish, and I just don't get it." At least fish were fast.. hopefully they could protect themselves too!

He looked towards the mare of her mention of a Kelpi, and living under water, and he could only agree! When he lifted his own hoof out instinctively, he noticed the sopping nature the water left. "I don't think my fur or skin could handle it, either." He felt sort of babyish for admitting such a flaw, but he shrugged nonetheless and smiled at the kinder mare. "I guess land will do for the both of us, right?" Luckily creatures could live where they wanted, and choose to do whatever they wished.

"I've heard you speak of this mentor before." he then said, with an almost jealous tone. "She sounds amazing... she must have really been helpful with life questions!" Hm, was the mentor her mother? He didn't want to inquire, since it was probably a personal issue. He figured it was best to wait, since he was still clueless to the mare's family situation. She had spoken of some beings, but whether they were related, Huojin was not sure. He wasn't sure why he was always so obsessed about other's family relations, but it was probably because his own was so screwed up.

[[ =O DBZ Cosplay? ]]

"Oh!" A fond smile lined her equine lips as she recalled her mentor. In essence Yei had been like a mother to her, had raised her while her true mother wandered the lands. It was hard for Farsiris to fathom why some mothers couldn't remain with their children, but Yei had accepted her charge and made Farsiris as comfortable as possible - to this mare, Yei and her true children were her family. She couldn't have asked for more really, to have brother's and sisters as well as peculiar parents.

"She is amazing, though she would deny it," she mused, shaking her head as she recounted how often Yei had denied any spectacular feats or compliments. It just wasn't within the red mare to parade her skills, experiences and good looks around on a regular bassis. Sure, Farsiris could recall the times that Yei had been flirtacious with her mate but that was allowed. Plus, it enabled Farsiris to gain some sort of understanding of how courtship should work...technically.

"She has so many stories and she tries to answer questions when she can but she doesn't know everything," she released a small sigh and peered at the fish with amusement. Really, this particular mare could grow to be quite fond of these little critters if she watched them for long enough. "You should meet her some time, she would love to have you on the slopes for a little while."

It was perhaps the most direct offer Farsiris had given the stallion. Yei was of course the guardians of such a land due to her herd and while she didn't mind strangers on the slopes, it was true that she would embrace any she saw as pleasant. In all honesty she was Yei's back up card, too shy to ask on her own she more often than not used her mentor or other people within her 'family' to tempt people to visit.

...Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

"She did say that Kelpi were shiny and like fish themselves so maybe they don't get so wet..." She mused after a few moments, changing the subject as she lowered her head to snort at the water. It caused a few delicate ripples, nothing subnstantial but enough to cause the fish to scatter again. "I wonder if Kelpi can talk to them..."

(( Hehe I was X3 <3 ))

Farsiris' praise of the mare was nice to listen to, especially since it was the most she had commented on in awhile! Huojin realized that he talked quite a lot, and he wondered if he was ever over dominating in a casual conversation. Though for the moment he was quietly listening and nodding his head at every little bit she spoke of. It sounded like she grew up very pleasantly, especially when such a wise mare was around! When he thought about her current personality anyways, he could tell that this mother figure had really shown her a wonderful way of living life. Farsiris deserved that, though. She was too kind to experience any hardship or plague.

"I think meeting her would be great." he then added, while taking in another meaning to the comment of hers. His eyes blinked slightly when he realized the mare might want to see him again, and his heart started beating a tad faster since such a thing had never happened before! He assumed he and Farsiris would go their separate ways after their long day together, and that because she lived in the mountains, Huojin would never see her again! Plus, he had already told her all of his flaws, why would she want to hang around him again?

"Well if I come visit, will I be able to see you?" his question was much more direct then hers, but he didn't mind doing that sort of thing. If using his directness got him the joy of seeing Farsiris again, then he would muster up some confidence to say whatever needed to be said.

Though, her question about Kelpi really did stunt him, and he looked down at the fish, and then back at the mare. "You know, Soquili with wings can't talk to birds when they fly, so I wonder if fish-likes can talk to fish?" That would be damn cool, though! Farsiris did put in a good point!

She wasn't very good at 'direct', even though her surrogate family had encouraged her to be open she struggled. Preferring to remain out of the limelight, she thrived on encouraging those around her to embrace their dreams. This didn't mean she didn't get upset or hurt though when they left - on the contrary she found that a little piece of her left with them. She craved company but she would ask for it. Perhaps this was the very reason that Yei had encouraged her to explore...it gave her the opportunity to find company without asking for it.

Nevertheless, her invitation to visit the slopes had seemed to work. Admittedly she had used the excuse of her mentor but according to the stallion's response he wasn't only interested in meeting her! Ah, for a mare who was accustomed to her friends disappearing and reappearing on a whim, it was somewhat strange to have someone enqurie about her. She was as accomodating she could be to her friends and often made herself accessible but perhaps they took that for granted.

Just a little.

"Me?" Still somewhat startled by his question she took a few moments to recover her composure before offering one of her usual smiles. Lifting her head, she canted it to the side and fixed her gaze on him for a further few minutes before nodding. "Of course you would see me," she replied at last. However, she was careful not to assume that she was of absolute importance and released a small chuckle, "I am usually around my mentor after all!"

"Oooh but if you came I could show you the groves and flower patches we have, they're not really big flowers but there are loads of small ones," she flicked her tail against her flank and released a soft sigh. "No fish though..."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 20, 2008 5:47 pm

She seemed pleased by his words, and he was truthfully thankful for that. When she spoke of what he could see, he had to add, "I'd still be impressed. Besides, I've always wanted to see the views from up there especially. I'm sure you can show me those." He smiled as genuinely as he could, since what truly mattered was that he could see his friend again. And maybe even meet her famous mentor!

"Is there anything else you'd like to see down here, or are you ready to finish your day?" Even though the sun had moved across the sky, there was still light, and Huojin was a wanderer of night anyhow even when it did get dark. He rarely slept, since he liked living through his days awake! It was a strange habit of his, but he seemed to always have energy. "I wanted to make sure you aren't tired or anything, and I also wanted to make sure you weren't needed at home right away." He was trying his best to be a responsible escort, and he head bobbed a little out of playfulness.

"But anyway, the fish seem used to us at this point, which is kind of nice." He gazed downward at the hungry fish, and noticed they weren't flinching at all from the two gigantic bodies before them. "Most fish are actually quite peaceful, they just need time to adjust. Pretty much the same as much Soquili." Or maybe, even him! But still, he was glad he showed her some fish. He wished there were more creatures to show, but most flew up too high, or hide in the deepest of woods.

It was strange how things worked out. She had never been one to take note of how quickly time flew until now. Then again, she most often found herself in the company of those who favoured silence. As a result, she was completely unaware of how quickly time did pass when an individual chose to socialise. It really was a fascinating discovery for her to make and all the while...a disappointing one. After all she was aware of the dangers that lurked on the slopes at night and the difficulty an individual had in navigating said slopes and all the obstacles upon it.

With the light fading fast it left little time for her to make her decision. She was of course presented with a number of options as Yei had outlined. Her mentor had always told her that the spirits always provided options and forks in the road. Each had an alternative outcome but every now and again they would circle back round and take her to where she had first started.

Home.

Thus, for a while she remained silent as she considered his words carefully. While she felt the call of her homeland and craved the cool mountain breeze, the curious part of her personality pleaded with her to stay a little longer. However this in itself presented her with problems given that she would be imposing her company on the stallion for longer than was appropriate. He had been a wonderful guide and had been so patient with her and her naive observations - to request that he keep her company longer... Well she wasn't certain he would be terribly thrilled by the entire situation even if he was smiling now. As a result she had two choices...she could return home now and hope that he took her offer or she could prolong her stay a little longer.

There was one problem, unfamiliar with the territory she now found herself in she wasn't entirely certain of safe spots in which to sleep. Admittedly she would have whole heartedly prolonged her stay, even to explore alone (if necessary) if she had known of some form of sanctuary to hide in during hours of rest.

"Actually..." At last she replied in a somewhat hesitant manner, turning her gaze towards the stallion with a small smile. "I don't wish to impose on you further, but do you know of safe places to sleep?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 21, 2008 6:12 pm

The mare's question was a huge surprise for Huojin and he blinked slightly while pondering an answer. Did she not want to return home, then? He had to admit, he was completely surprised. He would have expected that she wanted to return home, but maybe she wanted to rest before heading back to the mountains? He really didn't consider what kind of travel it was like, and he imagined it was a long walk.

"Well of course. There are many places to sleep, it just depends what you are looking for, or where'd you like to wake up too." he wondered if he was making the question too complicated, or if he was over-analyzing her question. Either way, he was only worrying in a usual way that he always did.

"Plus, you aren't imposing at all. I like when you are honest, remember? You can ask me anything. Here, how about we start to head back and as we walk we can see if a particular area meets you fancy." Though, would the mare be alright on her own for the night? Huojin seriously got worried as he started walking, and he looked towards Farsiris with extreme care.

"And, if you'd like I can hang around wherever you stay, since I wouldn't want anything to potentially happen. But in the same sense, I am not trying to scare you, I just worry, maybe too much! This area is very safe, but I can keep a look out right around wherever you sleep."

She really didn't want to go home, not immediately... If she went home now it would simply mean she would have to trudge back down the mountain the following morning and that would put her right back where she started. Plus she had heard tales of special things happening in the low lands at night - she wasn't sure if these rumours were accurate but she would have liked the opportunity to find out. Thus, she had made the decision to stay put for the next few days provided she could find a safe spot to return each night.

In a few days she would go home, but she suspected her mentor would be rather disappointed if she only spent a day on the meadows. Hell, she had only met one soquili too! Having taken all this into consideration she had made her choice a number of minutes ago and continued to be surprised by the stallions hospitality. Really he didn't have to stay with her and she wasn't fussy about where she slept either!

"I'm really not fussy..." she offered hesitantly, her ears flicking back as she couldn't quite grasp the concept of having a 'choice' in the matter. Usually she was directed to a default location and went that way. So long as it was warm and reasonably comfortable she would sleep in it and provided no one else chose to claim it for her own...she would decorate it in a manner that she felt was appropriate. "So long as it's warm and a little sheltered I can't really ask for anything else," she pointed out with a smile.

She was silent then before gasping at his fruther offers. It was a wonder that her head didn't fall off at the rate she shook it. "Oh no, no, no!" her eyes widened and she stuttered, scrambling for words at the back of her throat. "I couldn't ask you to keep watch, you need sleep too. Really I'm a lot stronger than I look and I've taken enough of your time up." As if to prove the matter she puffed out her chest, lifted her head high and struck a pose she deemed dramatic - unfortunately her petite height wasn't particularly good for this and the effect was lost.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 25, 2008 11:28 am

Huojin nodded at the mare's first comment, knowing all too well that she wasn't demanding at all. He did turn to calm her at her next reaction, since he felt awful if he seemed to have doubted her! "Trust me I believe you are very strong, probably even stronger then me! And my time with you has been quite amazing actually, you could never take too much." he quickly shushed himself and looked forward again, since he always sounded like such a dimwit when he said such things.

"But really, the area we are in now is very safe and comfortable, so I suppose anywhere that meets your fancy would be a good place to rest. I just.." he paused then, and looked at her with a smile. "Well, its still a bit early to sleep, and I didn't want your night to be lonely. But, if you'd like to go wander on your own some more and meet some new faces, I understand. But it looks as though the night might be clear, which would make way to some awesome star gazing." he paused quickly, and grunted.

"But, now that I think about it, you are probably already an expert at star gazer from the mountains, so from down here, it might be boring for you." with a light shrug, he smiled at the mare and realized he really was crazy. He wasn't smooth at all, and she could probably guess that. Ah well, he was lucky to have been with her as much as he did already! He owed her that much already! "But really, anything you would like to do, I'd be happy to comply." There, and the fact had come out.

Was he nervous?

Farsiris listened patiently as he spoke about the number of things that she could do. If she chose not to go home then it appeared she had many hours of entertainment ahead of her. With so much at her disposal she truly felt as though she was a little out of sorts. She had always been given choices and freedom at home but to be given so many options in a foreign place...well, she felt incredibly indecisive. She shifted uneasily at this discomfort and then shook her head, almost as though she were trying to rid herself of the immediate insecurities.

"Amazing?" She chuckled lightly, stuggling to come to terms with such a reference. It seemed that Huojin used such words with ease and freedom, never phased or aware that they could be taken as flattery. While she was flattered there was a side of her that reminded her that this was most likely just his rather exhuberant personality. At the very least she could congratulate herself on providing him with some entertainment, no?

"I think that is a little extreme but I am glad I'm not so terribly boring!" She flashed a smile towards him, partially in place to hide her own securities before her ears flattened against her head. She hadn't expected those on the low lands to be so pleasant, now she just seemed indecisive.

"You must understand that while I enjoy your company I don't want to take it all," she pointed out at last with a small sigh, "That would be selfish of me and I'm sure you have plenty of other people to see, you know?"
