High? Hmm, yeah okay. She could see that as a plausible defense. The femme leaned back, well... she already was, but moreso just to avoid the other's flailing. "What a drama queen..." Once Jabril got ahold of his dignity and sat back, Setsu sat up fully on her haunches with tails still stuck forward idly.
"Dead fer true? Nope, just needed some beauty sleep." Did it work? Two-toned eyes glanced the scientist's handywork hesitantly. Alot of bandages thankfully. Setsu grabbed the slipped blanket and held it near her torso, as if hiding the fact from reality. Ears pinned back to cover her neck as well in a subconscious act.
"So you did go through with it? Eh, guess it's not surprising." What scientist could call himself such if he wasn't to jump at opportunities. Eyes blinked dully as she absorbed the information given to her. She was bruised inside? Would that heal...but who could know. How she even still functioned was a mystery, let alone seperate details. "Jabril....thanks..." She frowned to herself while scanning for Project. She wasn't used to having to voice her gratitudes...

Jabril looked self-conscious. Or maybe like someone had just smacked him in the face with a two-by-four. It was difficult to tell with all those faux freckles in the way, not to mention that bit of twisty green hair bobbing around in front of his face.
"Oh, aye, well-" He rubbed the back of his neck with one paw, looking pleased by sheepish. No one had ever tanked him for... [i}anything, before. It wasn't exactly what he'd expect from Setsu, of all Kitsu. "I prob'ly only did it fer selfish reasons, so do'na feel like ye owe me."
The male spring to his feet, as though taking the pose of a man of action would somehow erase all of the embarrassing things he'd done in the last five minutes. He was surprisingly optimistic!
"We should'na get tha' bandage wet, in case it causes yuir wound t'rot instead o' dry out! An' if ye like, ye could stay fer obsirvation until yuir feelin' better. I ha' plenty o' room."
He spread his forepaws to indicate the vase expanse of the sitting room, as well as corridors beyond. It wasn't exactly a palace. The place was strewn with doo-dads and bric-a-brac as far as the eye could see, an the rough stone walls looked dowdy in comparison to the HQ. But it was comfortable enough.
"Wha' kind o' person's goin' around attackin' ye, anyhew?"

Would he rather that she smacked him in the face? She could easily do that, oh yes. Especially if she ever discovered he carved a piece of her internals for his collection. Setsu smirked to herself, pleased to see how such a simple phrase could easily unbalance another.
"Oh? Then I guess we're even." When it all boiled down to it, her reasons were selfish too. All that had mattered was her survival, and Jabril had safely delivered it. As to owe, only time would tell if that was ever necessary.
Setsu stiffened at Jabril's sudden jump, eyeing him with a raised brow. Get the bandages wet, how did they...nevermind. She didn't plan on swimming anytime soon anyway. She bobbed her head to that theory, though faltered as Jabril made an offer.
"Come again?"
Eyes followed the gesture of the paws, taking in the sight of the room that she already knew. Though apparently there was much more beyond that hallway. It wasn't a true building, but it was more homely than what HQ provided. She grinned openly to the other. "Sure, alright." Why not?
Ears made a flick motion to the question of attackers. That made her scoff, while paws reached out for her hoody, only to blink when she couldn't find it. "Oi, some character named Taskmaster. A bounty hunter of sorts, I suppose."

The lair wasn't huge, but it was home. Beyond the large foyer, which served as an impromptu library and sitting room, law the chamber where Jabril kept Godiva and his test subjects, his laboratory, and the small room where he slept at night. The latter was very rarely used. He had a habit of tailing late into the night and falling asleep in his workroom.
"Someone took a bounty on ye?" Jabril's brow furrowed. Setsu being nice confused him. Setsu being hunted down confused him even more.
If there was someone out there who could hurt Setsu so easily, Jabril would very much like to study him. From a comfortable distance, of course.
"Ye ought t'take out a bounty on him. Or smack tha' b*****d down. Unless ye want t'be hidin' out here fer the rest o' yuir life."
Not that Jabril was hiding, of course.
Except that he was.

Setsu shook her head calmly, peering at the other. "No, I just had a bad fortune of location and time." She thought back to the incident, how she had been running from Grim and came across Taskmaster's training ground. Easy enough to say, they were both of the stubborn type.
The femme blinked as she spoke, looking around the room. "We argued, to say the least. And that is when I realized his skilled profession." Sand couldn't do much when matched up with speed, that was for certain. That male had moved like lightning. "Where's my katana?" She hoped it wasn't misplaced or fouled in any science testings.
"Eh?" Take a bounty out for the other Bounty hunter? "No, I don't have others do my tasks. Never have. And so long as I don't cross paths with the other, my qualms are ignored." Taskmaster was nothing to her, not with the distraction of Grim lurking somewhere. But yes...she would like to try again.
"Hiding? Is that what you call your existence here?" She quirked a brow curiously. Why would someone like Jabril use such a term?

"Ye do'nae think m'up here fer me health, do ye?" Jabril chuckled. "Think 'ard on it, pr'aps ye can figure it out. But I'll ask ye na t'reveal th'path up here, unless ye ha' to. I do'na want t'ha' to rig that bridge wit' explosives."
It might not be that hard for her to suss out his motivation, but for the moment, Jabril would enjoy being a man of mystery. Sauce for the goose was sauce for the gander.
The male tapped his cheek with his paw, as though fiddling with an imaginary scalpel.
"Wait- what d'ye mean katana? I do'na recall ye bringin' a great knife in."
Perhaps she'd lost it along the way, during their struggle to cross the snow-fields and return to the lab.

Blink.
Blink again.
Well, she didn't know Jabril all that well, or so she didn't think so. And aside from that, she was still too woozed from a recent surgery to really think. The reasons to his hiding out were unknown to her, and she wouldn't pry...so she just kept her mouth sealed. Though.. "Did you make an enemy, I wonder." It wasn't a question, just an open theory.
Concerns for that flew out the window though to his mentions of her blade. "That's not funny Jabril." She scowled as she rolled to her paws, ignoring the odd sensation in her torso to glance at her sides. It wasn't there hanging from her belt like it always was. The femme flipped out now, tossing the blanket about to search for her single weapon. "Jabril...where is it?" Setsu sat in desaturated bafflement, thinking back on how and where she could have misplaced it.

"Ye could say I was born wit' one," Jabril said evasively, before Setsu started frantically searching for her weapon.
He couldn't say he saw the attraction. What use where swords when you had fangs and sharp claws? But perhaps it held some sort of sentimental value for her. She was scrambling about like a kit who'd lost her security blanket.
... wait, Setsu? Sentimental? No way. She must still be feeling the sedatives.
"I told ye, I do'na know." Jabril backed up a pace. "T'is na the kind o' thing m'inerested in. So I didna pay attention to it. Did he ya' it when I found ye?"
What if Godiva had eaten it while Setsu was asleep?
... Jabril chose not to mention that.

These fangs and claws were still unused, at least in the form of combat. And the thought of sticking anything in her mouth to fight was something she didn't want to do just yet. A glance was shot to the scientist at his statement, curious for a moment before going back to her task.
The area surrounding her was fruitless, no blade in sight. And her eyes scanned the room from her spot, hoping to find it somewhere among the papers and lab tools. "You don't know? It was right on my belt strap since.." Since the moment she fainted, "since you started the procedure." A paw pointed at Jabs with her ears slicked back. "It didn't just get up and walk away, now did it?"
Click.
Setsu paused with a blink, paw lowering as she reglanced the room. "Where's your pesky daughter? You said she ate metal....." Dear gawd she hoped that wasn't a possibility.

Oh, damn.
It occurred to Jabril that, if Setsu decided Godiva was to blame for her missing sword, she could bury the kit alive.
It also occurred to Jabril that if she didn't find her weapon, she could burry both of them anyway. She didn't look like she was in the mood for compromise. He hoped the syringe in his jacket was still full.
"I t'ought ye took off yuir belt fer me t'look at th'wound! I was a wee bit busy, ye know." Jabril protested with his hackles raised. Then he sighed and forced himself to calm down.
"Anyway," he grumbled very quietly. "She's na really- oh, ne'er mind. C'mon, we'll find 'er."
Jabril led Setsu through dark underground hallway and towards the room where Godiva slept. It was a simple, rough-hewn place. Whoever had made it for Jabril hadn't gone to any trouble beyond simply widening a cave passage that had already been there.
"'Diva," he called, in perfect imitation of the voice his Mum used when she demanded obedience. "Where are ye? Setsu wants t'ha a talk with ye."
But Diva did not answer back.

Hmm, maybe not so drastic as to bury the kit. But enough so to shake her around abit for information. That was her blade, and she wasn't so reckless as to loose it lightly. A riased brow was turned to Jabril, canting her head at him with a snuff. "Hey. No need for raised voices." She then reached down at the fabric of her shirt, pulling the sleeves on and tightening the bodice as best she could. The belt had been left on, holding her hoodie to her torso the whole time like a sweater.
"See? Still there." The pale kitsu sighed herself. This wasn't worth arguing for, this wasn't worth arguing for... Setsu paused to let that mind set sink in as she followed the other. It was a new part of the she'd never seen before, but she kept her eyes to the ground so not to be nosy of his terrain. One ear flicked as she peeked around the scientist, noting the absense of the kit being searched for. hmm.

Godiva's 'room' was really a storage space, of sorts, for Jabril's experimental subjects. She lived in a very roomy cage in the left corner. It was lined with bits of blanket and some battered stuffed animals. Jabril had not bothered to replace the bars at the front of it, which she had chewed down to stubs.
The right wall was lined with shelves. They held everything from broken microscopes to to organs in jars, all organized in alphabetical order.
He didn't see any sword, but-
"D'ye feel a draft in 'ere?"

The femme eyed Jabril before closing her eyes, her eartips quivering once. There weren't any vibrations she could sense, but her fur did react to a light sensation. "I do, but very faintly." Setsu scanned the room before them, now not only for her sword, but for the youth as well. Tails curled smoothly behind her as she spoke to the scientist. "Does she often dissappear on you?"

"Nivir. I mean- I do'na let 'er out often. An' there's na any way she could eat her way through that much rock."
Jabil's tails swished softly back and forth, stirring up the dust that had settled on the floor. It was true that he kept close tabs on his little monster subject. But that was only when he cared to think about her whereabouts. As a male who got so absorbed in his work that he often forgot to eat or sleep, he could easily miss her running off somewhere, if she didn't use the front door.
If she didn't...
"Tha's it!" Jabril cried out, then looked back at Setsu with a wild, manic grin. "This was a natural cave system, yeh? She's found a passage! Oh, such a clevir girl. I thought fer certain, since she cannae read, tha'-"
Jabril rushed up to the walls and started prodding at them with his forepaws.
"Tha' air's got t'be comin' from somewhere. We just ha' t'find it!"
Oh, to think that there was something so great in his own chambers! A geologists playground! Jabril was so cool.

He didn't let her out often...well that was nice. She might've been blind due to cave lighting if she wasn't already stitch-lidded. Eh, either way, who was Setsu to point out some parental skills? The kitsu made her way into the room, slowly after the scientist. His sudden outburst caught her by surprise though, and she faced him with wide waiting eyes.
"Yeah?" It was a cave, and they had systems. Yes. Ears slicked back when she thought of passages, glancing at the room with a tilt of her head. "But I see none. Wouldn't you know of them all?" This was his home afterall, surely he knew it all by now.
Shrugging, the femme edged towards a near wall, placing a paw to it to feel for any hollow vibrations. Just how slim a crevice could the Nightmare fit into?
