"I can send Beetle to fetch some of them, if you wish, and we could hunt for more?"
He had to admit it felt strange to carry on such an extended conversation, let alone an extended conversation that involved he helping out in some way or another and lacking all the curses one's beak could speak. Just the fact that this medic seemed tolerante of his condition cheered him, but there was still a worry gnawing at the back of his mind. It certainly couldn't be true. It never happened.

"Oh, that would all be splendid!" she hooted, referring to both of the offers that he had spoken of. She slightly moved her tucked wings away from her body and then gave a quick preen to a few shoulder feathers.
"Shall we be off soon?"

"Good, good. Beetle, would you?" Odd asked the ghostly chirop, who bobbed his head in response.
He turned his beady eyes to Mallow. "Back, tree, met Glaz? Met Mallow?" He squeaked curiously, awaiting instruction.
The pure white sentinel spread his wings and stretched them out in preparation for the dandelion hunt. Moth would certainly come in handy with this, too. "Keep a good eye out, Moth, alright?"
The second white chirop gave a soft, almost silent squeak indicating she understood.

The Medic stretched out her own wings before she turned her head to Beetle. "Mmhmm, the tree we met you at. They should be right there on the branch -- leave them if they have already fallen off, OK dear?" she instructed, her voice kind but solid as she spoke to the chirop.
Glaz looked from Beetle to his master as they exchanged information and then tilted his head towards the Wildtype. "Dan'lions, right?" he pipped in question, and then nodded his head as Mallow gave affirmation.

"Righ' righ' 'kay, yess'um." The white and pink male squeaked in response. Fortunately for Odd Winter, his little charge remembered his manners and was polite enough to add Yes Ma'am to his chatter. Yes Sir and Yes Ma'am was something they were still working on perfecting.
The little creature glanced to Glaz, then shot off from the limb to retrace his earlier wingflaps towards the tree.
Odd readied himself by stretching out his snowy wings and his legs. He still had trouble coming to terms with what exactly he was about to do. Moth would hopefully help enough that he would not make a complete fool out of himself as he tried to help with the dandelion search.
"You know what to look for, Moth, so keep a good eye out, alright? Keep watch for predators, too." He instructed quietly.

"Everyone ready? Right, then, let's be off while the moon's still out!" Without really waiting for an answer to make sure that everyone was indeed ready, Mallow gave a good laugh and then launched herself off the branch with a heavy down draft of her russet wings.
Glaz followed behind a moment later, though was slightly hesitant to leave the branch. He gave a chitter at the big, white Sentinel before he went airborn for no particular reason. Silly little chirop.

Odd watched the little chirop go in the opposite direction until he blended with the rest of the forest backdrop, which didn't take long, what with Odd's already blurry vision. He flicked an eartuft as his attention was drawn back to the task at hand. It was time to go dandelion hunting in an area of the forest where his vision suffered a little more than usual, as the trees were spaced further apart than he would of liked, with a strange Wildtype that seemed to have no problem with what he was.
What was he? Just a freak. The whole unusual situation was a little troublesome for the aberrant, but he was slowly coming to terms with it.
He blinked slowly as Glaz chittered at him and took off. Silly little chirop, indeed.
"Ready!" He hooted after the Medic and pushed off the limb silently, with all the grace of any other normal sentinel. The only real difference, if Mallow bothered to look back, was that Moth was flying in front of him and rather close to his face.

Mallow did give a fairly long look back to make sure that Odd was following, but her mind was already on a medic-oriented course and the realization of the position and proximity of Moth to the Sentinel's face didn't even register. ...Though if it had, she never would've given any indication of noticing unless she thought it would be beneficial to him.
She twitched her eartufts and gave a few minute glances down to the ground below. A few minutes passed before she gave a steady bank to the left and alighted on the low branch of an oak. Down on the ground there was nothing but soggy leaves and spongy pieces of wood -- no dandelions. Glaz alighted onto her back.
"Hmm hmm hmm," she muttered softly to herself and sidestepped on the branch a few inches.

Moth emitted a few soft squeaks as she observed Mallow land. The hoot she recieved from her owner was almost confirming, and the two landed further down on the low hanging oak limb. Odd nearly overshot it, but managed to snag it with his talons and right himself. It might of looked sloppy to some sentinels, but it had taken a great deal of practice to get even that right, especially with the moon peaking through the limbs. The sky seemed so clear, now with the storm over.
He moved fluidly into preening his feathers after his usual landing and casted a pale eye towards Mallow.
"Too wet. Loud wet made it too wet." Moth peeped Odd's own sentiments, but with much less articulation. Perhaps some dandelions still grew...
But apparently his chirop's eyes were not finding them.

Mallow gave a small lift of her chest feathers before she rolled her shoulders and nodded to the pale Chirop's words. "Ahhh yes, mmhmm, the rain has certainly made a mess of things -- all this wet dirt everywhere!" she exclaimed mildly. A little frustration sat on her tongue, but she kept her nature upbeat enough.
"Oh well... We'll keep looking." She nodded to herself and watched the ground for a moment longer before she turned her attention away.
"Odd," she began and looked to the pale, preening figure, "any particular way to go?" She knew where else they could look, but she liked asking others.

"Mm, how about back towards Deep Woods?" It would take a little flying, but he wanted the shade of the thick foilage above. It certainly made life much easier for him...
"There are probably many downed limbs... But those that aren't downed might of sheltered any remaining dandelions?" He gave a more plausible explanation of his suggestion, rather than parading around the fact that his eyes were sore and it was starting to hurt his head. It was something he really didn't like to discuss, especially with strangers.
He moved from his flight feathers to his chest as he mulled over the situation.
"Unless you know of a better place to search. It'd be quite a flight back, I expect."

"Your plan sounds lovely!" she replied and her head bobbed lightly as she did so. She moved her wings away from her body and unfolded them just a little.
"Shall we?" she asked innocently. A chuckle made its way from her beak and lingered in the air as she waited.

"His nervousness seemed to be letting up, although not much of it was showing through his stone exterior, anyways. His feathers fluffed lightly as he spread his own wings. At least he had an alright idea. He didn't exactly spend much time on the ground, but his idea did make some sense in his own mind.
"Right, lets be off." He hooted in response as he lifted off their most recent perch. He felt well rested and ready for the trip back, now that the fear of the storm and stress of riding it out was receeding, partially with the help and companionship of this unexpected Wildtype.
Though it was a bit foolish on his own part for coming out this far, in the first place.

Mallow gave a short nod and took off once more, a few pieces of soggy bark falling from her feet and the branch as she did so. She gave a slightly irked look back at the tree but soon adjusted her attention back to what was going on in front of her.
With a movement of her flight-feathers, she banked rather sharply to the right and looped slightly around to head in the proper direction towards the Deep Woods. She was good enough with knowing how to get places, but she hadn't been in the Deep Woods for a while, and so she hoped that Odd knew them better than she did .... otherwise this was gunna get interesting!

Though outwardly he appeared calm and collected, as almost always, inwardly he was cursing himself and the female that laid his egg. What was he thinking, coming out all this way?
He resided in the northern area of Deep Woods, so at least it wouldn't be too terribly far home, yet the storm had distorted much of the area. Moth might not be able to navigate as she usually did and his own sight was bad enough. Still, he would rely on her and his own sense of smell. Everything was soggy and the scent of wet earth was powerful, but there were familiar scents underneath...
He was sure he remembered that gnarled oak and the pines that surrounded it. This had to be the right direction.
"Still, I can't help but be glad that particular visit from the Thunderbird is over." He hooted as he flew, bringing up earlier sentiments. He was used to flying in silence, but not with other sentinels around. Something about it felt rather awkward.
