I love the twilight series. Another author to check out would be Frank Perett. He wrote the book three...later made into a movie. And another good author is Cornelius Funke...the Inkheart Series

If the author is Piers Anthony or Robin Hobb or Douglas Adams ...
Pick it up and read it!
I just finished rereading the play Waiting for Godot and it might be a bit difficult for some to follow but I'd recommend it as well as Christopher Durang's Baby with the Bathwater for sheer absurdity, but that one is a bit adult ...
David Brown's Angels and Demons is decent pop fiction and not a bad read.
Hmmm let's see, Simon Green's Nightside series represents a guilty pleasure since it isn't the best writing in the world, but is dripping with violence and myth ... once again, a bit on the adult side.
For you hard SF fans, Octavia Butler's Lillith's Brood might be very appealing. I liked it a good deal, but not one of my favorites.
Hmmm, I'm all out of suggestions at the moment. I'll get back to you (I'm trying to leave my classes' reading lists out of the post, but it is difficult ...)

I would like to recommend The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson, which is a very uncommon book and quite hard to categorize.
It is about a man who suffers from REALLY heavy burns after he had an accident whilde driving stoned. While he is lying in hospital, pondering about his upcoming suicide, a strange woman named Marianne Engel appears - a patient from the psychatric wing of this hospital. She claims that she has been his lover in 13th century Germany; obviously, the protagonist believes she is mad. But while Marianne, who is a very succesful artist, keeps visiting him, telling him captivating stories from ancient lovers as well as their mediaeval past, he soon starts to doubt whether she is telling lies or not...
This was one of the most captivating books I ever read, and also one of the most affective - I cried, I laughed, and I was disgusted like never before. It is written in a very realistic way, and nothing for weak stomaches or young readers (ranging from the fact that the nameless protagonist is drug addict and a former porn-star to the very detailed description of burn wounds or mediaeval violence...) - but really fascinating if you are neither of those categories. It is no fantasy-novel, though the plot may suggest this; it is about madness, human relationships, messed-up ways of life, true love, death and fate and takes you on a journey to past Germany, Japan, Iceland, England and Italy - and Hell. It is really "deep", and in my opinion it has more content & themes than some classics I know (though I am a big classics fan!!!)

L.J Smiths stuff!
The night world (a secret society of witches, vampires, shape shifters and werewolfs). And the apocalpse (sp?) is coming, and they need the 4 wild powers to stop it. haven't read the tenth book yet.
The Vampire Diaries- obviously about vampires. Elena Gilbert meets stefen salvatore. she ends up falling for him (the good vamp) and his brother damon (the bad vamp-who has a soft spot and is hilarious). Thats the basis of the story but lots of stuff happens through the books.
The Hunger games by suzanne collins is good. haven't finished yet but so far it's great.
I also like the mortal instraments, but forget the name of the author

I'm sure it has already been mentioned but The Lord of the Rings series by J.R.R. Tolkien. The Legends of the Wolf series by Alice Borchardt, which are The Night of the Wolf, the Silver Wolf and the Wolf King. (she's Anne Rice's sister). The Dark Tower series and the Stand by Stephen King. If you like historical fiction then The Other Boleyn Girl and the Queens Fool by Phillippa Gregory and The Secret Bride: In the Court of Henry VIII by Diane Haeger.
