Kat was quickly catching up to him. She had to work twice as hard to keep up but she didn't care. She loved the feel of the fresh dirt under her pads and the smell of the forest and of Curtis near her. She moved a little closer to him without thinking.

Connor spat at Luka's hand.
"And you'll forgive me if I won't touch the kin of the monsters who killed my family," he sneered. "Except to kill them." Sick of pleasantries and pointless explanations, Connor leaped again.

This was exhilarating. He was running for the first time since coming to America. His first time transforming. He'd met wolves before, but they had made it clear that they were not accepting new members. At least not members like him.
She was drawing near him, but whether it was deliberate or not it excited him.

Kat's sences were going wild. She was focusing on just Curtis. She forgot to pay attention to where exactly she was running nad went head first into a rather large tree. She went a bit fuzy for a second and stagered back a few steps before she fell over.

Luka saw him leap and she leaped toward him as well. The collided and fell into a heap on the floor. She managed to fanagle her way on top of him and pinned him to the floor. "They killed your parents?" She whispered this quitely as she started to cry again. "That's horrible. No wonder you're so angry. I was angry when my parents were killed too. Luckily I was mostly grown at the time. How old were you?" A tear fell down her cheak and landed on his.

The sound of a collision and the lack of Miss Benson beside him brought Curtis to an abrupt halt. Skid marks were left in the ground from his large feet. One he'd stopped he allowed his ears to twist every way possible, listening. A painful and confused groan reached him as the wind brought her scent to him. He plodded in the direction his senses were pointing him, and found Katra there, laying dazed at the base of a tree.
"Are you alright, frauline?"
***
She was crying again. Crying! ...Over him. Over his loss. Connor had never known her type to be sympathetic. To pity someone. Least of all someone who was intending to kill them. He was tense, of course, but when her warm tear landed on his cheek, he slackened. His breaths were fast and he shivered. One bite and she could kill him.
"T-twelve. I was twelve," he murmured. "And... my name is Connor."

"Uh,..I think so." She felt very stupid, running into a tree of all things. She got up and staggered slightly to one side before she caught herself. "I'm fine." She tried to continue running but couldn't go in a straight line.

"Well," she said still sobbing and rolling off him. "We seem to be making some progress." She let out a nervous laugh as she wiped her eyes. "I'm sorry. I must look a mess. She sat against her dresser and pulled her knees up to her chest. "Twelve, that's so young for a human." She crawled towards him and hugged him.

Well, all he could do was hope that she really was fine. Her running in zig-zags was reason for concern, but at long as she didn't show any other signs, Curtis would let things be. As they ran this time, however, he slowed his pace to plod alongside her.
"So... do you have a specific place in mind?"
***
Connor deflated, letting his dagger drop. He shouldn't have. She could (and likely would) turn on him at any moment. Snap down on his neck and kill him. But did it matter? If he had become so weak as let this beast embrace him, his career was as good as over. She might as well kill him.
"Are you trying to make me trust you?" he asked quietly. "Trying to change my thoughts on your kind? Trying to convert me?"

She pushed her self off him. "Hellz no! Yeesh. People can't feel sad for people anymore unless they want something. Not that I don't want something...anyway...that's not the point. My God, you've got me all frazled." She sat down next to him, leaned her head on his shoulder and rubbed her temples. "Have I mentioned yet tonight how rediculously hot you are. Wait...do you mean convert as in like...convert?" She self-conciously licked her teeth. "Oh God. Well, this just got akward."

Kat shook her head trying to clear it and it worked. She thought for a second and shrugged. "I have no idea...theres a lake a few miles west from here. When the moon is bright it reflects most beautiful." She wanted to add 'just like you' but thought it would be a little too much. She started running faster.

Curtis sped up. A lake under the moon sounded perfect. He would be able to sing to it - to the moon, his new home, and his new companion. He caught up with Katra easily, but not did not over-power her. She was the guide now, after all.

Her last works caused Connor to shoot up into a standing position, tensed once again.
"Y... you can't be serious!"

Kat groweled playfuly and zig zagged around Curtis. She only stopped when they had made it to the lake. She sat down at the edge of the lake and waited for Curtis.

Luka was confused. "Serious about what?" She went over everything she just said in her head. She stood up. "Yeah, serious about what." She grabbed his coat and pulled him towards her until her mouth was right next the his ear. She whispered rather forcefully. "Connor, I swear...." She let him go. "Either tell me what the hell you're talking about or leave...or stop messing around and kill me already."

The lake was beautiful. Not as beautiful as her, but still wonderful. He came to its edge and gazed into the water. The moon's reflection was perfect. The moon itself was even more so. Curtis could not contain himself any longer. He began to bay at the moon, singing a song of freedom.
***
"When I mentioned converting me, you said this was awkward," he pointed out, still shaken by her close contact. "So you were planning on it." He began to visually search the room for the glint of his dagger.
His voice erupted into a stream of curses. "Yer casting some sort of friggin' charm on me, aren't you?" Connor hated to turn his back to look for his knife, but he didn't have any other weapon. "Bloody, pacifistic dean," he growled. "If he didn't have a stick so far up his a** I'd have my gun and this would have been over before it started!"
But did he really want to kill her? Yes, werewolves had killed his family. But what if regular humans had done it? Would he be out to slaughter all of mankind? Of course not. That would be different. Wouldn't it...? She had to be casting some sort of werewolf charm on him. He'd never once doubted his motives before now.

kat closed her eyes and listened to his song. It was beautiful. She let her own cry which mingled with his into a wonderful duet. It just felt perfect to be here with him and to sing.
