Life is a highway...

Hahahaha...

@FG mule - Do people mess up more than once in the same category because they didnt think about what they were doing or because they didnt learn from their past mistakes?

... gotta ride it with all its twists and turns... most important part is coming out on a straight path and above the rest

Hi Zora. Those are good reasons for that to happen. It can be that people are not paying attention to what they are doing and they are thinking of other things maybe. Or yes, they don't learn from past mistakes.

But underlying those reasons for continuing to mess up is the real foundation: poor insight. If a person can cultivate real insight they they rarely mess up in the same category. For one, they will pay attention to the things that matter which means they will think about it. This will lead them to your next point and so they will learn from it.

What though is insight and how do you get it? Insight is knowing your real true motivation for doing something. You get it by contemplating in honesty the actions that you take for good or ill. When you know why you do what you do then you will have insight. When you have insight the only mistakes you repeat will be those you repeat on purpose. Which is a different subject altogether!

Thanks so much for the deep explanation of this aspect and for the clarification. I will definitely use it to explain something to a gal in real life. Thanks again!!

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could
chuck wood? I must know.

Oh Great and Wise Sage, Noble Mule of many Paths, King of Knowledge itself, Honourable Lord of all that is Good and Truthful, I beseech you to answer my Enquiries!

Why is it, if our body maintains a constant temperature of 98.6 degrees, we feel uncomfortable in that level of heat?

How does one spot a tear in the rain?

What Would Leeroy Do?

Is there a cow level?

Actually you do not have a constant temperature, there is something called diurnal variation and it is also well known that women at the time of ovulation have elevated temperatures, hence the use of the thermometer in fertility clinics. That aside, you are constantly giving off heat as a by-product of your internal mechanisms on the gross and micro levels. Heat dissipation is not as easy when the temperature is high so you feel uncomfortable.

One would have to have vision with the properties of a spectrometer.

The question is too open.

Yes there is.

Thank you, oh Sagacious one. You are Really ever so Clever. Caw! We're all Mighty Impressed, I can tell you.
I never knew if there was a cow level or not... Diablo is such a big thing.

I shall re-phrase my question:
What Would Leeroy Do (if he was in a dangerous situation with, let's say, nine others, and they needed careful planning and meticulous execution to escape with a 30% chance of survival)?

And House would like to know what could cause tanning and punctured alveolae (sp?), even though one hasn't inhaled or consumed anything dangerous, and has not been in the sunlight?

Yes I am a clever mule, it's true.

As for Leeroy, he would take the reins in hand and lead the charge.

Tanning (or hyperpigmentation) is caused by many things. "Punctured alveolae" is an unusual term in medicine. Perhaps you mean pneumothorax by any chance? If so, then there are a couple things I would investigate, including doxorubicin. But definitely I would look for something injested. But if that is not what you mean then you would need to clarify with more of the patient's history.

Nothing has been injested out of the ordinary, and yet the patient has, to use the medical term, hyperpigmentation, and his alveoli (sorry for spelling it alveolae earlier) are definitely punctured (they have holes in them). Pneumothorax may be a symptom of these thousands of punctures, but it is not the diagnostic factor.

I fear I may have stumped the wise Mule.

Behatz, your use of the word "punctured" is odd, medically. But perhaps you refer to emphysema. There is a rare association between hyperpigmention and emphysema in inorganic arsenic poisoning. This association was best demonstrated in a survey with data collected 3-4 decades ago in Chile. There are other medical conditions associated with alveolae though and many that are associated with hyperpigmentation.

And the answer was!
Haemochromatosis. The build-up of iron in the blood could be pulled through the alveoli by the oxygen, which (and I really can't be bothered writing out the chemical reasons) naturally attracts it. This could literally puncture the alveoli.
