"Ugh." James said as he sat up in his bed, rubbing his eyes. The sun was shining just over his pillow, which was where James' eyes were. His fingers went through his brown hair as he opened the curtains to see that everyone was gone. His gaze went back to the window, which he could now see properly. It was a beautiful view. "Today's going to be a good day." He smiled as he said this, flipping the sheets over so that he could scoot out. Quickly, he pulled on jeans and a black shirt which was a little too big for him, along with his robe. Hurriedly, he moved around the room collecting his things and continuing to dress. It was a couple of minutes before his feet made tapping noises as he rushed down the dormitory stairs. An empty room greeted him as he looked around and hurried to the portrait hole. "Sirius and the others must be down in the Great Hall, its only now just 7 am." He told himself as he ran down the corridor.
Sirius and the others were indeed in the Great Hall as James thought. Sirius was sitting next to Claire and Lily was sitting on the other side just across from Claire. They were talking about a couple things that Sirius didn't really care about. He heard little bits of words every now and then. He was wearing a black sleeveless shirt that was again too small for him and looked a little tight. He wore black jeans and white cushioned sneakers. He looked up as he heard James running in and taking a seat next to Lily, whom he kissed as a hello. Sirius smiled at him then looked to see what Claire's expression at this was.
"Mornin'" James said, beginning to pile food on his plate. He wasn't sure how much longer the food would be there. It changed every now and then. The best food was always at this time, but toast and the rest were reserved for those in a hurry to get to their classes, but with full stomachs. "I musta slept in." He said, glaring at Sirius who glared right back. "I tried, but you sleep like a rock." Sirius bit into a nice brisket and ate a sausage bisket next. Then he lifted the pumpkin juice up to his lips and drank.
"Sleep alright?" James asked Lily and Claire, not asking Sirius because he knew that Sirius would try to answer and make a fool of himself in front of a girl that he finally got on terms with.

Lily and Claire both sat across from each other at the table. They each had a very stressful morning due to the fact that they were still getting use to the fact that there are six girls sharing one bathroom. Lily, who usually doesn't care about styling herself as much as other girls, recently became one of the girls who was in the bathroom the longest. They sat at the table, now, chatting about all the latest gossip about their fellow Gryffindor and their umcomming classes for the day. Claire tried to say words that may have appealed to Sirius to try and get him into the conversation, just so that he wasn't sitting there bored. He seemed elsewhere, so Claire let that fizzle. Whenever there was a slight break in the conversation, Lily would try and casually look up to see if a certain someone was coming to sit next to her. However, eveytime she did, Claire would notice and giggle even more the greater Lily tried to hide or deny it. Eventually the chatter just became a device that was meerly there to fill the silence. Lily was too busy looking to see where James was to really dive deep into any form of conversation, while Claire was simply just there.
Finally, James arrived. Lily prictically sprang up from her seat to meet James' lips. Lily was in an immediate better mood now that James was sitting next to her. "Yes, I slept fine." She answered James with a smile. She then took this time to provide her opinion on James' sleeping habits. "Now you on the other hand.." She said with a bit of a stern look. ".. you better not be making a habit of sleeping in so late. I don't want it to affect your schooling or making you miss breakfast." She said, continuing her scolding manner. Then she gave a sweet smile with a bit of a flirty under-tone. "Plus, how will I get to see you if you sleep in so late?" She spoke in almost a baby voice. She then began to giggle, and tucked her orange bangs behind her ear. She had the sides and top of her hair pulled and pinned in the back, with many pins. She wore a violet, v-neck sweater and a khaki pencil skirt. She always tried to dress as professional as she could. She was even wearing a bit of make-up. This was definately a first for her to wear make-up on a regular day.
Claire, who was a bit unsettled by Lily's reaction to James' arrival was now feeling like she was about to gag at Lily's attempt at flirting. Claire thought that baby voice that she did was getting old and they had only been dating for a few days. She wanted to tell Lily to never do that voice again, the next time she got the chance. Claire had nothing against either of them, if anything she was jealous. Things had been going great with Sirius, but Claire was just feeling like this should have happened a while ago. Sirius asking her out was the greatest thing in the world to her, but it was a long time coming. She was also a bit jealous about how physical James and Lily were. Claire glanced over at Sirius with his tight, sleevless shirt and wished it was like that with them. It was hard not to bee and it took alot for her not to drool. Claire didn't even bother aswering James because he and Lily were so wrapped up in each other that he wouldn't even hear. She then turned her attention over to Sirius, fully. "So, I really don't want to be stuck with Theodore again for my potions partner, do you think you could maybe take his place. Even thought he actually knows what he's doing in there, he's just too annoying to bear." She said, a bit embarrassed to ask him so directly. Claire blue eyes looked up at him. She wore a bit of black eye make-up today to give her eye's that smoky look. She wore a light blue tank top with a knee-length, light brown skirt. Her hair was in it's typical shoulder-length style. He blonde bangs were barely over her eyes and parted to one side.

Sirius smiled a little as James took his seat across from him. James had been sleeping in more than normal. No one ever out slept Peter, but James seemed to be breaking any record that Peter had. He would often make excuses, but Sirius knew what was going on with him. It happened ever since Lily and James "officially" went out. James had been getting symptoms were he was clingy and he hated to be away from Lily too long, so he would just toss around in bed until he finally fell asleep at one in the morning. His body was just trying to get the amount of sleep that it needed. Sirius would need to use a sleeping spell on James tonight, or Lily will think it's all her fault.
James made a puppy look at Lily, "I don't mean to over sleep, I really don't Lily. It just happens." He glanced over at Sirius again, Sirius refused to look at him completely. Instead he continued to eat, grabbing meat and gnawing at it. It wasn't like he had meant to act like it, but Sirius was more and more dog-like after each transformation. James, Peter, and Sirius were all animagus, people that could morph into animals from humans. James was a tall and powerful stag, a boy deer; Peter was a rat, which he misused many times; and Sirius a big black dog. There wasn't a side effect for James, but unfortunately Sirius and Peter were beginning to act more and more like their respective animals. Sirius would even go to sleep as a dog, which was risky. But due to their second year, no one ever woke Sirius before he felt like it. So it was rather safe.
Guys never like being talked to in a baby voice. They preferred to have cool words associated with them. It was demeaning. But James found it funny, Lily could never do much flirting. It was always James that tried to get her attention. Sirius smiled when Claire began to talk to him, he other communication taken over and cut off. "Sure, I know what you mean. He's completely hard to be around. But, I must warn you. I just barely scrape through potions." He thought it best to tell her, he was almost never any good at subjects besides Transfiguration. For a moment he was distracted, he too had noticed how physical Lily and James were being, but even if they both wanted that. It would be best if they took it slow. Too fast and they might ruin it.
"Claire is beautiful, I wonder if that's why I never asked her out before now. She just has this aura, it makes me feel that she's out of my league." He said to James before they went to bed, or before Sirius went to bed. James would laugh at him, "According to Lily, she's been wanting you to ask her since... forever. If I were you, I'd make your first date mean much more than just a simple outing. Actually ask her to be your girlfriend." At this Sirius scoffed. "This being said by a guy that couldn't ask Lily out for four years." James went deep red and closed his curtains.

Claire lightly tossed her hair out of her face. She continued to pile more food onto her plate. The breakfast was nearing its end so Claire wanted to get as much food in her so that she wouldn’t be starving by lunchtime. Claire laughed at Sirius' remark. "Don't worry,” She said in a warm tone. “I think we will be able to manage. I just can't be near him anymore, and I've only been in class with him for a few days," she laughed. She then took a few bites of her biscuit by tearing off the pieces and popping them in her mouth. Claire could care less about whether or not Sirius was smart in potions; she just wanted to find some excuse to spend time with him. It's not like Claire even needed a partner in any of her classes. Claire was a very good student, mostly because she didn't mind doing the work that was needed. She received all O's, except two, on her O.W.L.S, for Divination and History of Magic. She was even doing better than Lily, but never brought it up because she knows how stress Lily gets about grades. Claire never really advertised the fact that she did well in school, mostly because Claire found it so annoying when people constantly ask her about homework or other nonsense like that. Claire picked around her plate, not really interested in the food she was eating anymore. Then, while underneath the table, Claire kicked Lily’s leg.
Lily, who was still sitting awfully close to James, tried to hide her grimace once Claire’s foot made contact with her shin. She discretely glanced over at Claire, giving a very fowl look. Claire needed to realize that her punches and kicks really hurt. She gave Claire an annoyed look as they both met eye contact. Claire had an extremely happy smile on her face as she gave a thumps up sign. Lily immediately forgave Claire for her previous attack and was excited with her. Claire had previously to her that she wished for her and Sirius to work together in their potions class. During that discussion, Lily had wanted to know what he had said in a response. Now, Lily was very happy for her friend. She gave a congratulatory smile then returned to James. She was egger to get the day started with him and their friends. She leaned against James, tossing her napkin on her plate. She was not, however, excited to go to potions. She knew that the Slytherins also had potions that period, and that Severus Snape was in fact a Slytherin. She guessed it would be time that the boy’s lived up to their promise. “Please promise me you’ll behave in class. You should at least ignore him, if nothing else.” She pleaded. She knew that James and Sirius practically thrived off of pestering and humiliating Slytherins, especially Snape. “And I’ll try my best too.” She whispered into James’ ear. He wasn’t the only one who needed to control herself around Snape, except she needed to control her emotions not her actions. She didn’t want his words to get under her skin, the last thing she wanted to do is cry today. She decided that she would try her best to keep James under control around him, still unsure if their promise was enough.
Claire to realized this, and as she finished up picking at her second helping, she decided to ask Sirius if he would honestly retain from being a bully. Some of the things that were done to Severus were actually pretty funny, but most of the time they would just pick on him for no reason. “Look, I know that Severus isn’t the most pleasant character around, so that’s why you just need to stay clear of him.” She knew how much fun Sirius had picking on Severus. She just didn’t want him to get in trouble so close to the hogsmeade trip. She also knew that the potions professor was the head of the Slytherin house, so he wouldn’t think twice about punishing James or Sirius severely. “Just don’t be stupid ok?” She was worried for all of her friends. It seemed like she was the only person in their group that actually didn’t have a problem with him. Not that she actually liked him, but she didn’t hate him. It was going to be a ruff day.

Sirius smiled, glad that he was going to spend some more time with her which was becoming more and more difficult as the year progressed. Sirius seemed to never be able to see her except at the Great Hall or in the common room. Even Sirius was being forced to work in the library. Although, he did wonder how those girls that peeked at him from the bookcases did their work while they were talking so loudly and giggling. And though Claire seemed to be passing the idea of them working together in Potions off as nothing, he knew that she secretly wanted it too. Slowly, he was getting more and more perceptive of her and others around him. He wondered why when it came to Claire, that he couldn't flirt nor could he understand hers. But, she was giving him a lot of signs that he had never quite noticed before. He was so full of himself that he didn't even think about her. He turned away to eat, but he noticed Lily looking over at Claire. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Claire putting her thumbs up, but only barely. This made him snort his food, but not enough that they'd notice.
James and Lily were talking, flirting, and acting like boyfriend and girlfriend. He was happy that they had gotten to the point in their relationship that allowed them to be so physical. Girls always think that the hand holding, kissing, and making out is all for their benefit. Well, they're wrong. Guys enjoy it almost as much, and right now James loved it. He'd been fantasizing about kissing and going out with Lily since his third year. About the time when he started to act like an idiot to get her attention, which was about the same time that Snape had ruined his relationship with Lily. He was still blissfully unaware that Snape and Lily ever had a thing. She hadn't told him, and Snape and the others knew better than to say anything about it. "You're beautiful, you know that?" He said, leaning in. However, the subject of Snape popped up and Sirius almost spit out his food. James immediately stopped moving closer to Lily.
"Awww, and I had just forgotten about him." Said Sirius, mood instantly spoiled. James had the same look on his face, obviously he was thinking about kissing Lily. Nothing like the subject of Snape to ruin a moment. "We won't do anything, I don't even plan on recognizing his existence, the little snot." A few of the people that sat near to their group smiled and one said, "Here-here." James smirked. "I won't do anything, Lily. Promise." Sirius nodded. "Me too, I said I wouldn't and I plan to try and not knock the stuffing from him." He pushed his dark black hair from his eyes and pushed away his plate. Quickly he changed the subject and tried to get out of their as soon as possible. "Oof, I'm full. I think that I'll make my way over to Potions. Claire?" He asked offering for her to come with him, allowing Lily and James to be alone, as as alone as one could in the Great Hall. And that wasn't his only intention.

Lily felt as though she was flying as James commented on her beauty. She was so ready for him to move in closer, but then he stopped after she said her statement about Snape. She was immediatly sorry that she brought it up at all and wished to take it back. At first her was sad that she had just killed the moment but then began to giggle at the boys at how they were being so supportive of not being mean to Snape. Still, James' words still echoed in her ear. He called her beautiful, but that wasn't really the reason she was so happy. It was just the fact that he said it. She would have been flattered if it was just some random guy, but this was her boyfriend saying that to her. She tried to contain herself, and kept her excitement on the inside. "Well, thats good enough. " She said with a giggle at all of their promises, but thats all they were, promises. They were really going to need to prove themselves with their actions. But, for now, she was willing to go along with all they were saying. Lily thought it was so sweet of Sirius to ask Claire to walk together to class. She was so excited for them as well. This was such a great morning, too bad it was about to be completely ruined by potions class.
Claire was a bit taken back, but at the same time, very excited. Usually they all walked together, but not today. "Gladly," she said with a smile as she stood up from her seat. She bent over to the table and began to collecte her books and her long-handled pale green tote bag that she carried around everywhere. As she did this, she secretly made eye contact with Lily, and she began to look Claire over. She whiped her eyes, signaling for Claire to do the same. Then Lily gave a slight smile. Claire then stood back up and faced Sirius, "ready?" She asked. Not only was she excited to finally be alone with Sirius since he asked her out, but she was also a bit happy to be away from the lovebirds. "Bye Lily, bye James. See you lot in potions." She said cheerily as she began to walk towards the door. She walked with Sirius out the door of the great hall and into the hallways. She clutched her books to her chest as she began to blush, her hair was hiding her face from him.
Lily continued to watch Claire and Lily walk outof the Geat Hall. "Aren't they so cute together?" Lily asked James, with her eyes still on them. She was very happy for Claire. She turned back over to James. She smiled at him. They were still sitting very close. There was a bit of an awkward moment for her. She didn't really know what to say after that. Even though she didn't know exactly what to say, she still couldn't stop smiling at the fact that she was near the boy she wanted to be with.
Claire walked with Sirius thoughout the empty hallways on their way to potions. She was walking and rocking back at forth the at the same time. She was now holing her books at her side, a bit more comfortable now that she was with him a bit longer. "So, I really am excited about the Hogsmeade trip." She said looking up at him while she walked. She wanted to see if there was any sort of reaction from him. Just wanting to know if he was feeling the same way. Even though she knew that he asked her on the date, she still wanted to make sure that this wasn't all in her head. She figured it wasn't like that, but every girl has her insecurities. There was never a dull moment with them, she loved hanging out with him and even just walking with him was amazing.

James looked peculiarly at Lily. "What?" He said, wonderingly. She was looking at him strangely after he told her that she looked beautiful, she looked pleased with something. Completely bypassing the thought that it could be because of his comment, he was confused. "Why shouldn't I call her beautiful? It's only true." He thought to himself. "Well, that's good enough." James was slightly taken aback. "I don't know why you guys would think we'd screw something this important to you. I mean, we can at least tell when to be serious." He held his hands in the air and shook his head as if in disbelief. Slowly, James leaned in again, and made to kiss her, but she was so interested in Claire and Sirius that she seemed to have forgotten about him. Puffing his cheeks, like a spoiled brat, James pulled back again and looked at the scene between Sirius and Claire.
"Yep!" Sirius said, eyes closed and head tilted with his mouth in the form of a smile. "See ya in a couple of minutes guys." He winked at James before turning around and taking Claire's hand in his own. He swung his bag over his shoulder and they both walked carefully out of the Great Hall. Out of the corner of his eye, Sirius saw Stephine and a couple of friends look petrified at the scene. All eyes were on them, and normally Sirius would smile and gloat in his new found glory. But he was nervous and couldn't look back as they left. Suddenly his shirt felt too tight, and he wondered if Claire liked that or not. So many thoughts were going through his head as they walked, silently at first down the halls to the Sytherian double potions class.
"You know, I mean't what I said about you being beautiful." James said, looking into her eyes. He smiled, leaning in again. "If this doesn't work, you'll have to wait till after potions." He said, gently kissing her lips. His hands were holding her face in his fingers as he very slowly and gently kissed her. Once he stopped he moved back, but not far. His eyes looked up into her beautiful green eyes. "We should've done this much sooner."
"Yeah?" He said, looking down at her for the first time since the Great Hall. "I am too. Do you want to go to the Shreaking Shack? It's usually desolate and peaceful." He thought it the best place to have a first kiss with her. "Or... we could just go to the Three Broomsticks with James and Lily. At least for a little while." Adding another option seemed better, he couldn't explain it. It was a couple of minutes before they made it to the Potion's class. The doors were still closed, something that the teacher did. They never opened until the very start of class. At least this meant that they had peace for a little while. "Over here." He said, leading her to a corner and slowly sat down, bringing Claire down a little with him. "Are you okay?" He asked, noticing that she seemed to be a little red in the face. "Do you have a fever or something?"

As Claire and Sirius walked to potions, her hand tingled as their fingertips grazed each others. She didn't allow her hand to be fully clasped with his, but she still loved this. She was relieved that he, too, was excited about Hogsmeade. Once they got to the door of their classroom, she allowed herself to be lead down to the corner to sit next to Sirius. Once she plopped onto the ground against the wall, a bit close to Sirius as well. She listened to his ideas for Hogsmeade and immediately giggled. "Oh yeah, if you think that you can get yourself alone with me that easily your crazy. Why don’t we just stick with walking around so you can buy me things instead? That seems good for a first date." She said as she punched him in the arm, teasing. Honestly, she actually was a bit scared of being in such a secluded, and slightly romantic, spot. She didn't know what would happen. "On the other hand, that’s a better idea than that tacky tea shop." She pointed a finger at her mouth and made a gagging motion. She had been there on other dates, but it just wasn't for Sirius, or her. It was more of a lovey, gushy type of place. It just wasn’t their style. She noticed that their fingers were still touching.
Lily sat there, still recovering from her kiss. Her slightly parted lips turned into a smile once she heard James' words. She then gave him a quick peck on his lips with gratitude. "Thank you. You're perfect.." She spoke softly without even thinking. She then giggled at James' statement. "We definitely should have." Lily was in heaven right now. She loved being with James and couldn’t wait for the future with him. It was then that she realized that in her near future, they had to go to potions. She then got slammed back into reality. Many of the other students were exiting the Great Hall, while a lot of them had already left. She giggled a bit. “Well, I guess we better get going.” She sighed. Not really wanting to go for multiple reasons. She then leaned forward to give him another peck on his lips. She paused just before she touched his lips; she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned to look up to see Stephanie standing above her.
Claire continued to sit next to Sirius, event though she could hear the sounds of students walking up the stairs and down the hallways. She knew that many people had seen them walk out together and also that girls always kept their eyes on Sirius. She was a bit worried that all the people would see them sitting together, holding hands. A lot of girls hated her already and this was just going to give more fuel to the fire. She looked over at Sirius, not wanting to get up. There were many people who passed by a few seconds later. It was then that she instinctively tightened her hand around Sirius’ fingers. She tried not to look at the people entering potions classroom. Even though she to conceal her glances, she noticed that many girls felt free to stare at them, with menacing looks. This made her feel a bit uneasy. She sighed. “Are you ready?” She said, trying to sound cheery. She got up slowly, letting go of Sirius’ hand as she did. It was then that she noticed how warm her hand was with him. It immediately seemed to freeze when she let go. She picked up her bag, then waited for Sirius to get up before she would go inside the classroom. She tossed her hair around a bit with her fingers to keep it from going flat.
“Hey, Girl!” Stephanie said with such perky façade. She practically pushed James aside to give Lily a hug, to which Lily seemed to be taken back by. “I’m so happy I saw you before I left to go to my next course. I just wanted to come by and see how our plans for Hogsmeade were coming along.” She then turned to James, “and to see how James was taking the news that he had to go with that Claire girl.” She said with a bit of a pout. Lily then spoke up. “Well, I don’t really know if the plans are still going to happen like that. James and I are dating now so.. I guess I’m just still not sure.” She said with a pleading glance to James to say something. Stephanie was becoming a bit too difficult to bear. She always had to be a part of everything, like now. She completely interrupted her and James just to ask a stupid question that could be answered later. Lily was kind of getting tired of it, but she didn’t want to say anything because they were still friends, sort of. Not to mention her non existing feud with Claire was getting tiresome. After a little bit, Lily had enough. “James, I thing we better go, now.” She reached over to James and grabbed his hand. She pulled him up as she got up and tugged him close to her. “Well, Stephanie, we better get going. Bye!” She said and she pulled him out of the great hall, she was practically running to get away from her.

The look on her face was enough to tell Sirius all he needed to know. He was literally oblivious to all of the sounds the other students made when he was with Claire these last few days. Almost completely ignoring Lily, James, and their little gang in the process. As they walked Sirius was contemplating on trying to find the right way to get closer to her. The corner of the hall seemed to be the best place for them to sit. At least when the students started coming they would have a little shelter, at least of a moment. She still kept moving her hand, however they brushed slightly. Each time they did Sirius stood up straighter, a reflex. Since he couldn't grab it, it caused him to have to think of a new way to hold it when they sat down. A sigh escaped his lips, the pressure of sitting down had caused it. "Heh, I guess I can't fool you. You're too smart." Sirius said, chuckling. "Damn. She punches hard." He thought to himself, telling his body not to react by forcing the hand to clutch it. The only thing to distract him was her expressions. "That lovey dovey tea shop? Yeah, uh, I wasn't planning on going there." That was partly true. Sirius had been almost begging to be able to have a reason, any reason to kiss her, but the conflict that he didn't want to have many of the students know about them was still a big problem. It wasn't because he was ashamed, he saw how the girls looked at him. He supposed that he could predict that they wouldn't take this lying down. His fingers moved on their own, they clasped with hers in another attempt to show his affection. He did it, a light grin crossed his features. For a moment he looked into her eyes, his expression normal and body almost completely still.
James was so proud of himself, he had been able to get the girl that he'd be absolutely begging to have for a couple years now. With maturity came the girl he'd always wanted. And now she thought he was perfect. It didn't take much to know what he was supposed say, not that it didn't ring true in his words. "Nah, I'm not perfect at all." His hand pushed away the thought, "You are." A peck on the cheek was his reward, the pick-up-lines in his minds whirled for another complement so that they could get closer to each other. Oh, how wonderful she was. He sighed as he saw Stephine coming their way, the comical way that she was trying to weave her way over to them didn't make James laugh. In fact he grimaced as if in pain. "Here it comes... trouble." James thought to himself. But she would be there soon, he'd have to listen to Lily as much as possible. Or maybe he could prevent the end of another good moment. "Well, I guess we better get going." James turned around, he had forgotten too. His eyes were slightly wide as he regained his composer. "Yeah." The absentminded comment was ignored with another peck on his lips. "Crap, why is she doing this. I think she has a 'destroy everyone's moments' syndrome. And I have no idea why she's bothering us." James thought, groaning out loud.
Sirius didn't notice the countless students walking towards and past them on their way to Potions or the other classes that were down here in the dungeons as well. It was strange, Sirius thought. Claire's expressions seemed to be going through overload right now. One moment she was blushing, teasing, happy, worried, and then finally a hurried look was on her features. "We don't have to get up yet..." He whispered, reading her mind. That didn't seem to click as well as he had thought that it would, the right side of his face frowned as he began to wonder. "Hm?" Instinctively, Sirius looked up at the squeeze of his hand. The looks that they were getting was completely apparent to him now. "Dammit, what the hell was I doing! And here I was worried about people finding out." He thought angrily to himself, mentally making a note to throw himself off of the tallest tower. Their fingers slowly released, leaving Sirius on the floor and Claire standing over. "Uh, yeah." He said, guiltily. Scrambling to his feet, he looked over to the Potions room. Why did so many things have to ruin our happy moments? Horrible moments just go on and on until they're good and done. It doesn't seem fair.
"Nails on a chalkboard." James thought immediately at hearing her voice. He had tried to prepare himself for it, but no amount of preparing could have saved him from that. "Woa!" A glare was placed on his face as he was roughly and unceremoniously pushed aside. "Of course, your only reason for living is for yourself, you stupid overobsessed..." He was glad that she couldn't read minds, if she could... well lets just say that James wouldn't make it to his next three classes. She would be so upset. "I'm taking it fine." He said through his gritted teeth as he soon realized what both Claire and Sirius were saying about her. Was Lily really that oblivious to this? At his thought he looked at her, his hand instinctively moved to his neck guiltily. "Ah, well. Maybe not completely oblivious." James practically grabbed her hand and ran with her out the Great Hall when she told them to go. He offered no polite goodbye as they ran, he could feel the evil pressure growing. No doubt she didn't take to being ignored so easily.

Claire really did feel bad about just abruptly ending their chat and hang out time, but she really did feel uncomfortable being scene with him when they weren't even dating. Everyone knew that they were friends, but it would just be wierd when everyone found out that they were a couple. Even though they weren't. Yet. As Claire thought this all over in her mind she just became so confused over the entire situation. It was just going to be hell whenever all the other girls found out she was dating, or going on a date with Sirius Black. She rolled her eyes at the thought. She waited for Sirius to get up as well, before she went inside the classroom. Just because she cut their meeting short doesn't mean that she was going to be a complete jerk and ditch him. Once he would get up all of his stuff together, they would then make their way into potions together and get ready for the funnest class ever!
Lily and James ran out the great hall, away from Stephanie. She just couldn't help but laugh the entire time. It wasn't untill they were near the courtyard that she realized that they were on the completely wrong side of the castle from where the enterance to the dungeons were. "Oh no. We are so far away from the classroom and it starts soon. There's no way we will make it there in time." She giggled and ran her fingers through her hair from front to back. "Not that I want to get there on time anyways." She said looking at James. It seems like since they started to officially date, Lily has really not cared about anything else. She knew that she wasn't taking her classes seriously cause she was too busy flirting with James from across the room. She and James would try to study and do their assignments but would end up just talking or kissing the entire time. She knew she needed to find a better balance with her life, but for right now James is all she cares about, and wants to care about. She leaned in to give him a peck on the lips.
Claire entered the dark and dingy potions room. She tried to avoid eye contact with anyone. She didn't know if people were looking at her, but she didn't really want to know. Due to the silence of the room, she kinda had a feeling that they were just talking about her. She wished that she was just being paranoid, but the feeling in the room was there. She made her way to her usual table. "Here Sirius, you can sit in this chair." She said, still not wanting to sit by who she use to sit with. She sat down and got out her notebook and potions book, ready for when the teacher would come in to start teaching. She playeed with her hair a bit as she looked around the room. She noticed that the very front table sat Severus Snape, his potion already brewing. She figured that he was in here durring his lunch period working on the potion for today. She watched him for a bit. She could tell the kind of potion that he was making, but he was making it a a very wierd and unconventional way. Every now and then, he would almost experiment with his potion by trying new ways to do something, like squashing an ingredient instead of dicing it. After he monitered the results, he would make a not of it in his potions book. Claire then realized that she probably looked wierd staring at Severus like that, but she had to admit that he was a pretty amazing potions maker. It almost made her want to step up her game a little bit so she even took out her cutting board and all of her instruments, like her knife, spoon, and cauldron. The Professor then entered the room from his creepy storage closet, and began to write notes on the board without talking. Draught of Living Dead
Lily then realized that even though she may not have wanted to go to potions, she knew she had to. "Ugh, i guess we better get going" she said to James. "But just because we go, doesn't mean we have to be on time." She spoke with a sly grin. She then took Jame's hand and began to lead him across the castle to the dungeons to the potions classroom. They walked a long walk, but when they finally got there, the door was already closed. This ment that they were definately late. Lily gave a kind of nervous face, then slowly opened the door. As she did, the door made the loudest creaking sound she had ever heard. She immediately paused in embarrasment once the entire class turned to look. "Nice of you both to finally join us." The professor said in his creepy voice. "20 points from Gryffindor. You know my rules, it's 10 for each of ya." He continued and made a sarcastic guesture to their seats. Lily noticed Claire, who was biting her bottom lip to keep from laughing. She then made it to her seat in the back, behind Claire. She then quickly got out her notes and began to try and catch up with the professor. "Maybe that wasn't such a good idea.." She whispered to James.

Sirius stood, pushing his black hair gently from his line of vision as he began to stand. "I had forgotten that no one knew about our current relationship." He thought, pushing himself up from the floor so that he could join Claire in going into the classroom. The ground had been rather filthy, so he quickly brushed the grime from his pants and robe. He smiled, so as to let her know that there were no hard feelings about the abrupt halt to their conversation. His hand flew to his hair, pushing the fingers slowly through as he saw that a girl looked at him rather lustfully. A blush found its way to his cheeks and made a rush of pink. It wasn't that he was thinking about her in that way, it was more that he had forgotten that I girl could do that. All he had ever done was look into Claire's eyes to see her beautiful orbs staring back at him. He followed her into the classroom, hoping that the blush wasn't too apparent. Thankfully, she hadn't turned around just yet.
James was smiling at Lily in a warm and surprised kind of way. Surprised because he was sure that Lily would just take everything that Stephine said without another thought. As they were running from the student, James had realized that they were running to another side of the school. However, some how, he had been becoming lazier and found it hard to catch his breath as they ran. When they stopped James took in a couple of deep breaths so that he wouldn't look unattractive. A laugh escaped him as Lily commented on their location. "That's what I love about you Lily." He kissed her on the cheek. The courtyard was empty and all who was there was just the two of them. The next comment made his eyes smile as well. "Oh really? You do know that there is a short cut in this very courtyard?" James didn't give anymore information, after all, no one knew about the Maurader's Map or who founded it. Allowing the kiss on his lips he walked behind Lily and wrapped his hands around her waist and rested his head in between her head and neck. "I love you." He whispered.
Upon entering the classroom, only a few students looked up to see Claire and Sirius entering. Sirius' blush deepened as the eyes fell on him, curious and suspicious. The dark haired boy made his way over to where Claire sat and sat next to her, saying nothing. Distracted by his own thoughts, Sirius hadn't noticed anyone else in the room since he sat down. It took him a while to even realize that Claire was looking at Snape curiously. His fingers fumbled with themselves, as he looked down at them. Momentarily his previous partner, Jane Wilkin, was sitting by herself but Sirius lost the guilty feeling as her boyfriend sat down with her. After Sirius had told her that he hadn't had any feelings that she had for him, for her, she was able to move on and ask out -oddly enough- Claire's old partner. The boy winked at Sirius, and the rough student nodded back at him. The teacher entered the room from the closet. A scowl appeared on Sirius' expressions as he saw Snape already fixing up his own potions. A quick glance across the room told him that James and Lily would be late. Ding dong, ding dong. The bell had just gone off, everyone was still in their seats. Some minor chatting still beginning to die away. Sirius heard his name, but paid it no mind.
James allowed his hands to fall from Lily's waist and smiled, rather then scowl at the abrupt ending to the romantic moment. Perhaps she just hadn't noticed what he was doing. Another expression appeared on his face as he realized how Lily really was. This side of her really made him want to laugh, it was interesting how this new side was more like the side he used to have. Instinctive, dangerous, unrelenting. He allowed himself to be pulled for a little while, but decided that standing next to Lily while walking would be better. His arm brushed against hers and he suddenly wanted to rest his head on her shoulder. He resisted. "Want me to take the heat?" James asked, worried about how Lily would really react when she found that she was indeed late and in trouble. She didn't seem to hear him, their hands unclasped as she opened the door. Her expression told him everything, she really would have to get used to being late. As Lily's eyes had, James glanced over at Sirius and Claire sitting together. Sirius hadn't turned around, but Claire had found it amusing.
"What'd we miss?" He whispered to Sirius upon sitting down. It took a moment for the young student to turn around. However, James had been expecting a smiling dog like face looking back at him with a gleeful tone in his voice as he said, "Nothing, like always." He didn't, and just passed back some notes that he had done earlier. James just stared at him, he almost didn't hear Lily whisper in his ear. "Notes? Sirius?" The thoughts flashed through his eyes and his expression as one of something close to disgust or horrified. Again Sirius turned back around and slouched back in his chair a little, his notebook in his hands and his quill scribbling across the page in ink.
He didn't know what had come over him. Sirius just new that Claire had sat for a good couple of minutes looking at the greasy figure of Severus Snape with a curious looking expression on his face. The thought to ask her about it had crossed his mind, but immediately flew to the back of his mind. Still, here he was, not flirting or trying to act like a clown. No, he was actually paying attention. The vague thought that he had an unacceptable grade in the class almost made him smile. If they needed a reason why he was actually paying attention, then he'd say that it was his failing grades. Instead of, "I'm jealous that Claire might like Snape 'cause he's smarter then me." It wasn't completely out there; after all, unlike everyone else who hated Snape with a passion of some sort, Claire never seemed to care much for the harassment of Snape or anything that they did.
[Sorry about the waist thing, I'm really in one of those romantic moods and with two love birds dancing around I had to do something ^^. Hey, what do you think of the idea where Steph, drugs Sirius with love potion and Claire sees it. After the going out thing of course. ^^]

As Claire was causally copying the notes from the board, she heard James ask Sirius what they had done. "Why would he ask Sirius?" She thought to herself, slightly amused that he thought he would be paying attention. She was about to turn around to hand James and Lily her notes, when she noticed that Sirius had already done the same thing. She was startled to say the least. She wanted to rush back and see if those were even correct, thinking that he may have just scribbled down random words. After looking at the notes from a glance, she turned over to Sirius and was about to try and talk to him, but she stopped. She couldn't believe this. He was actually paying attention. In Potions!! She was honestly a bit skeptical. Never the less, she continued to jot down her notes as usual. She couldn't help to let slip a tiny smile.
Lily was incredibly embarrassed at coming in late. She deeply regretted her decision to stay out late. She tried to copy down the notes that Sirius had given them, still trying to determine if these were for real. Even if they were real, his handwriting was still terrible. Lily continued to sit in class as usual. She would occasionally glance over a James and give a slight smile whenever he was looking at her.
The professor had he back turned and silently covered the board in all types of notes: techniques for brewing the potion, ingredients needed and basic information regarding it. This was very typical for the potions class. The professor would spend the first 45 minutes of the period filling the board with notes, silently, not even explaining what he was writing. Then for the rest of the time the students were to work on their potion. During this time, the professor would be in his creepy little backroom doing god knows what. Towards the end of class, he would storm out of his room and walk around the classroom like a madman. He would practically sprint down each isle, giving each pair’s potion a second long look then give you a grade based on just that. He would often time award points to Severus for practically creating a perfect potion, and he would never award points to any other house. Another common occurrence would before him to take points away from Gryffindor.
Claire continued taking notes, now almost completely down her second sheet of paper. Once the professor finished writing down his instructions on the board, he delicately placed his piece of chalk down and turned to the class. “Now, are there any questions?” He asked in his creepy little voice. This was incredibly rare for him to ask. Claire looked around at all of the students, which many had fallen asleep. She causally raised her hand high in the air to ask a question about what to do after the potion had settled during the primary boiling. The professor looked over at her and smiled a vicious grin. “Well Miss. Ramesy, if you are asking a question then you clearly haven’t been paying attention because there is no need to ask a question. I’ve written everything you need to know on the board, Miss. Ramesy.” Claire lowered her hand as she began to be scolded by the professor. There was no point in talking back at this point, clearly this was just a trap and she fell for it. “Now this just shows me that you, Miss. Ramesy, are clearly incapable of fully understanding the art of potion making.. Maybe a night of detention would help you get back on track. Tonight.” The professor smiled, pleased with the unnecessary fear he caused. Claire was now almost in tears.
Lily was in shock at what the professor had just done. It was incredibly rude and offensive the things he was saying to Claire and he just stood there, watching her break down. Out of all the people in the classroom, she was probably one of the only ones who were genuinely paying attention. She looked at how Claire hung her head over to hide her tear behind her hair. Lily looked over at Sirius, expecting him to say something, but he didn't. She then looked over at James, who seemed to be in the same boat at Sirius. She wanted to punch him in the arm, like something Claire would do. But she then realized that getting in an argument with James over this would be pointless. The only one who desrved the lashing was her professor. Lily was extremely irritated already, then the professor asked one simple question. "Anyone think that I am incorrect?" He said with a fiendish smile. Lily then raised her hand high in the air. "I do, you shouldn't critisize her for wanting something explained. It isn't her fault you're too lazy to explain things properly." She said with a smile. She felt no remorese for what she said because it needed to be said. The look on the professors face was full of shock and disbeleif. He then became red and like he was about to explode. "Detention!!! the both of you!!" He then ran out of the room and slamed the door behind him.

James, still perplexed by the notes and the fact that Sirius had written them down in the first place, blindly began to try and copy his terribly handwritten notes. Although his writing was horrible, everything that was on the board was there, James whispered to Lily, handing her the paper. "Can you believe this?" He never took notes, and as far as James could tell, neither did Sirius. Sirius didn't turn around, his face still facing down to his page, quill scribbling across the parchment. Once or twice, his hand lifted up to rush itself through his black hair, but then quickly returned to his work. James looked over to his girlfriend, a rather confused smile playing across his face, as if he didn't believe what Sirius was doing or what he had just handed him. He shook his head and lightly placed his hand on top of Lily's fragile warm hand and smiled at her.
While the professor began to write on the board, the scribbling continued in Sirius' direction. Now, about more then half of the class was staring at the black haired boy. This odd behavior was seen immediately by those admirers of the young ruggedly handsome boy whom had watched him for hours on end just trying to think of ways to get him into their grasps. The boys were all staring at him in a betrayed silence. In their eyes, he was trying to get the last bit of problems that he had to make himself utterly and forever perfect. A few whispers were heard between the scribbling of his quill and the touch of the white chalk on the blackboard. Everyone began to stare at him; even Snape had turned to look once he had turned over his parchment and began to write again.
When the professor placed his chalk down, Sirius placed his quill on the table. James saw that he was trying his best to stop himself from rubbing his throbbing hand. All that writing was giving him a cramp, however, he did nothing about it and just sat still; his eyes glued to the board. Under the table he stretched out his fingers and then clenched his hand into a fist. After a moment a frown found its way to his brow, it furrowed as Claire raised her hand in the air at Professor Scofferd's supposedly real question. Obviously a trap, but still Claire fell for it. Hook. Line. And sinker.
The fat portly man walked -waddled really- over to Claire, his eyes showing malice and glee that he would be able to yell at her; a favorite pastime of his. Claire was never one to defend herself, Sirius wondered to himself if that was the reason for their friendship in the beginning. Ever since they had become friends he had always protected her from teachers or bullies in general. Either getting the teacher so mad at him that she would be let off or just being with her during the detentions. Those memories made a smile faintly find its way to his face, but disappeared as he raised his own hand and immediately began to speak.
"Professor Scofferd," Or Pigman, to the students. "I think that Claire was just trying to point out that you had forgotten to put the instructions for what to do after the potion settled during the primary boiling. You see, you skipped it, sir. You might have just over looked it, after all those are a lot of notes." James, as did everyone else, almost fell out of his seat at the calm demeanor spread across Sirius' features as he spoke. His words were also surprising: polite, calm, not a hint of anger anywhere. James leaned over to Lily; his face was red as if he had just been winded. "Did you just hear what I thought I heard?" He whispered, face almost pale white.
Professor Scofferd was taken by surprise too, his eyes darted down to the parchment in front of Sirius; his hands reached for it and turned it over and over. It took a moment for him to realize that the words scrawled on the parchment were real and really was covering the entire page. His face was pale as he laughed arrogantly, turning back to the blackboard. "You'll soon see that you're mistaken Mr. Black. You see, the instruction for that is right-" He stopped mid-sentence. His finger, which he had used to point to where he believed that Sirius was wrong, fell down slowly. First he sputtered; next he went silent his eyes searching for something, then another bout of sputters. He turned his body back to the blank expression Sirius.
The calm appearance Sirius had made it almost impossible for the teacher to yell at him, especially for something he was right about. However horrible it was for a teacher to be called out politely by Sirius Black and be wrong...
"Miss Ramesy, you still have detention with me tonight. That doesn't change. Talk to me later about how long you'll stay." All of the Gryffindors glared at him, their hands crossed or just glaring daggers at him. Even those girls that hated Claire because of her closeness to Sirius Black were fuming. A fellow Gryffindor, weather you extremely dislike them or not, should never be treated like dirt. It was an insult to the entire house and worst of all, as well as most surprising; Sirius said nothing in defense for his "would-be-girlfriend". His head was facing down, his eyes not looking at anything that could look back. It was obviously due to shame and trying to control an instinctive urge.
James was quiet in silent furry as well. He hoped that Lily wouldn't make an outburst, and even more he hoped that she wouldn't be angry with him for not defending her best friend. What he really was was smart. Fighting with a teacher when it could only get worse was not the best way to fight this battle. "And so close to a full moon. I hope that Claire and Lily don't get mad. Remus needs us. Sirius can't yell at the teacher for you. Sorry, Claire. Lily." Now some of his actions made sense, though the sudden note writing and silence was unusual.
They were both quiet, James inwardly hanging his head because he knew that the arguement would be lost. His dark brown eyes diverted from her, not wanting to catch eyecontact with her. Sirius seemed to follow the same idea. "Will Claire be mad at me?" Sirius wondered. "Will Lily understand? No, I can't explain this to her. We made a pact... Sirius, Peter, Remus, and I. We can't let Claire figure out about Remus."
[Sorry it's late.]

Claire was quite excited that Sirius had helped her lead her case, but when she thought about it, it wasn't nearly enough. She had been put in situations where it almost go physical with a teacher because he said somthing to her that got her upset. It was actually a bit puzzling to her as to why he would only re-itterate what she had just said and not completely go off on the teacher. However, the more she thought about it, the more she became more irritated at the fact that Sirius, or James for that matter, didn't say anything else. She felt like her case deserved to be defended by them, instead of just sitting there looking ashamed that they weren't speaking up.
Lily was till fuming. She was happy that Sirius said something at least, but still, more needed to be said. "Anyone else think that I am incorrect to punish this rude little girl?" He said with a fiendish smile. Lily then raised her hand high in the air. "I do, you shouldn't critisize her for wanting something explained. It isn't her fault you're too lazy to explain things properly. If you really want someone to yell at, maybe it should be the professor that taught you potions. Clearly they messed up big time on you." She said with a smile. She felt no remorese for what she said because it needed to be said.
The look on the professors face was full of shock and disbeleif. He then became red and like he was about to explode. "Detention!!! the both of you!!" Lily was one of the nicest students for any teacher. She had the reputation around school of almost being a teacher's pet, in a cool, non-annoying way. So not only was this shocking for the teacher to hear, but it was increadibly shocking for the students to hear as well. The professor had no idea what to say after that verbal slap to the face. He wanted to grab his wand and jinx her mouth closed so that he wouldn't have to see the victorious smile across her face. His face almost turned a purple color as he yelled. "DETENTION!!! The both of you!" He then ran out of the room and slamed the door behind him.
Once Claire heard Lily stickk up for her like that, she immediately jumped up out of her seat to give her a hug once the professor closed his door. She ran around her table and embrassed Lily with a thankfull hug. "You were brilliant! I don't think i've ever seen anyone turn that color ever before." She giggled. Lily was actually a bit surprised herself. She wasn't shy when it came to arguing with a teacher, which she rarely ever did, but she couldn't beleive that she blatently insulted a teacher like that. They both gegan to laugh and giggle about what just happened. A few students frome Gryffindor got up to say "Well done" or "I can't belive you told him off like that" or even "Thanks for saying that, it deserved to be said." One student even came up to say "I always did think that his potions teacher sucked dragon eggs too." Lily was a bit overwhelmed by the people who came up to her, but flattered at the same time. It was nice to know that the choice she made was worth it. Then she thought about the choices that James and Sirius made to keep quiet. She hoped that a crack in their relationships was worth it to them in the end.
Claire then returned to her seat after a while. Now pretty much ever Gryffindor student was standing around Lily's desk, talking to her about what had just transpired. Claire didn't really want to talk to Sirius at the moment, but in all honesty, it was hard to stay mad at him. Just because he didn't exactly help her in the way that she was expecting, didn't mean that he didn't care because she knew he did. If anything, she wasn't angry as much as hurt by him not standin up for her. She needed him to speak up and say what deserved to be said, but he didn't for some reason. But she knew there was a reason. Sirius hated that teacher more than anyone she knew. Being polit to him must have killed him inside. There was no way that he talked to him like that by choice. There had to be some underlying issue or reason for him to not say anything mean or loud to the teacher.
