"You.. have to work multiple shifts today? I didn't even know they allowed that." She was flummoxed. She'd always wondered who worked nights, but she thought it was people like Alexia or something. The people who liked nights and stuff. Now that she knew he did she was even more confused.

"That sounds fine. I guess just one game sounds just fine. And if I don't feel better after that I think I will go with you," she finished off her eggs and started buttering her biscuit.

Markirus smiled, embarrased by her slight shock.
"Well, I kinda have to work nights, extra money and all that."
He finshed his mountain of chips and wiped his mouth off.
"Man. I should so come here more often."

"They won't let me work that many hours. I would love an excuse to stay out of the house and make more money."

The first of her two biscuits was buttered and half gone. This place had the best biscuits and they always felt like they were melting in her mouth. Her friend had brought her to this place years ago and she was grateful to this day, "You should. This place has always been one of my favorites."

She wrapped her second biscuit in a napkin and was basically done.

As Markirus poured his meal into his mouth, he rapidly nodded while munching on an oversized portion of chips. He swallowed and gasped for air then smiled at Ark.

Ark grinned back before taking a sip of her coffe, "No need to rush. I never order a lot here and we still have a fair amount of time. Besides, if you don't finish on time, we can just do bowling some other night." She didn't add that she didn't care less what she did so long as she was out of the house.

Right at this point, her sisters would be trying to break into her bedroom using bobbypins and who knew what else. Little did they know, she'd barricaded her door and slipped out the window. Luckily, the same friend that had brought her to the diner all those years ago had called and warned her about the eminent party at her house. Her sisters would want her to act as waitress for them without even a thought for how degraded she would feel.

Markirus leaned back and looked out of the window.
"It's getting dark, I think it's best we either go now or another time."
He looked back at Ark then he called the waitress and whispered something into her ear, she smiled and walked off.
"Right, shall we go?"

Ark finished her coffee and slid to the edge of the booth seat. "I'm ready whenever you are. I guess I didn't realize how late it was."

She stood before realizing she hadn't paid yet, "I just have to settle up and then I'm ready."

Markirus walk past Ark toward the till.
"Don't worry about paying, I already added you order to my bill. You head out, I'll be there in a minute."

Ark's mouth twisted up into a slight frown, "You don't have to do that. I have money!" She could see it was already too late, but she felt that she could at least make a token protest. And now she was simply determined to pay for bowling.

Pulling her wallet out to make sure she had enough for shoes and the actual bowling, Ark stepped out of the diner and made her way to her car. It was parked on the far side of the parking lot where she liked to think the cool people parked. Tucking her wallet back into her pocket, she leaned against her car, wrapping her arms around herself to ward against the chill wind.

A few moments later, Markirus came walking casualy out of the door, waving at the waitress and made his way towards Ark smiling. He looked at the car, impressed by the choice.
"Sorry if I took to long. I kinda got caught up in an interesting conversation about the different qualities of coffee."
He scratched his head and laughed slightly out of embarrasment.

Ark was surprised. It seemed the kind of conversation she would have. Beans and roasting techniques and.. wow, she even sounded like a geek in her own head.

Instead she turned to her car and typed in the code to unlock the doors. Since he hadn't gone to a car of his own, she assumed she was driving, "Hop on in. Excuse the mess." She leaned over and moved her crap from the front seat into the back.

Markirus smiled, walking to the other side of the car and opening the door, he had been in worse. He hopped in and adjusted the seat to his liking, maybe abit too far back just so he could lean back.
"Much better, thanks."

"No problem," she waited until he'd finished adjusting the seat before shifting the car into drive and heading towards the bowling alley. She would never say anything because she understood why, but she couldn't stand people messing with her seats. It was so annoying when she had to fix them later.

Even though they were only driving a short distance, Ark couldn't help but speed. Something about the thrill of watching the speedometer climb got her adrenaline pumping. Her back straightened and both of her hands flexed on the wheel.

As Markirus tried to relax, he noticed that they may have been moving a little too quickly. He smiled, he was happy to see Ark loosen up for once and enjoy herself. After a sharp turning the jolt knocked him into the door slightly. He smiled and looked over a Ark.
"Maybe it's best that we slow down abit now. Don't you think?"
He thought about reaching over to show how urgent it was, but he decided against it. He didn't want to cause her to lose her concentration.

"Not really much to slow down for, is there?" Ark shrugged as she pulled into the parking lot. "This town is so small that by the time people ask me to slow down, I'm already at my destination. Besides, I figured we don't exactly have much time." As she spoke, she climbed out of the car and stood waiting by the open car door for him to get out so she could lock the doors.

"Oh, am I gonna need to take you back to the diner to pick up a car or anything or do you just want me to give you a ride back to work?" she couldn't help but work out times in her head and she needed some kind of mostly set schedule in her head.
