Reign leaped forward, jumping up into the air and snatching at the Granbear's to get its attention and direct it away from Shino.
"The hell did that sneak up on us?!" She demanded as she danced between its paws. Shut up, shut up.
Shut up – I’LL BUST YOU UP! You don’t realize you’re what I despise-
I ain’t playin’ no GAMES – GAMES.
(Cold is not cold, but rather the lack of heat.
SET ME AFIRE-!)
Stand in my way and you’ll end today-
I’ll make ya go up in FLAMES – FLAMES.

Shino didn't answer, but at that moment, he couldn't, because something was happening...the thing he dreaded most was happening right then. His curse, his affliction...no comfort could solace him now, no amount of will could help him. He was alone...except, for his creature.
But the creature too was experiencing something. The dragonoid's body was withering away, turning from white to black, and gaining a feminine form. Black antennae sprang from it's head and the red tattoo's morphed into streams along it's body, like rivers across a map.
And in an instant, the creature rose, and Shino stood, a vicious smile across his face, and green eyes...dark green eyes, that burned like a demonic fire.
"It's time..." he whispered as he licked his lips "...that we begin". His voice was unrecognizable, it was as though someone had warped the audio of his speech into something dark, like a body-swap gone horribly wrong.
So lost in your affliction, the solemn comfort of your grave... ...if you close your eyes the light won't take it away...

Dread Raven clan~ From up above, while the Granbear was distracted with Reign below it, Nare catapulted down, landing on its neck. He thrust a sword--held by scabbard to his belt--as deeply as it could go, with all his weight behind it, into the Granbear's neck, near the spinal area. Hopefully, he could paralyze it--doing so, at the neck, would halt its breathing and make it die eventually, or be easy to finish. Regardless of the results of Nare's thrust, he quickly pulled upward, trying to both take flight and pull the sword out of the bear in one fluid motion. Nare misjudged his strength, though, and was bucked off, into flight--leaving the sword embedded where it would.

 Your eyes are the windows to your soul. If your eyes are empty, what does that make you…? What does that make me…?  Savanna cursed herself bitterly as she set the bow aside. She had no time to recock it, and even if she had it would have been less than helpful. Now that insane lycanth was jumping around on its neck, which took the advantage of surprising it from back there completely out. With the slightest shift of her arm - she had practiced this thousands of times - she loosed the dagger that was tied there, and took several quick steps backwards as the thing came towards her, still trying to shake off the lycanth. The dagger slid down into her hand. She glanced at it briefly and sighed. It was one of her favourites, but if she didn't get it back, she supposed she could always break in another. Spinning it once to judge distance, accuracy and weight, she took another three steps back to get the necessary distance - if she was cricking her neck to look up at the stupid thing, it was too close - and flung the dagger straight into the creature's open mouth, aiming for the roof. She figured if they wanted distraction, seven inches of razor-sharp steel reaching for the animal's brain cavity ought to do it. That task done, she scooped up her crossbow and slipped off to the side, loosing another dagger and gauging her chances for another shot - this time at the stupid thing's eye. So look into my eyes,
and tell me what you see.

The Granbear was in pain, roaring loudly as it flailed around, and while it was distracted, Shino moved in. But this was different, he wasn't afraid, he wasn't anxious, he was just ticked off...his entire demeanor changed.
He sprinted forward and swung his right hand to the sky in a diagonal slashing movement, and as he did, his creature, Hakumei, did a similar movement, but closer to the Granbear...hitting the Granbear, but not just hitting it, hitting it's mouth, driving the metal arrow-head that was already embedded into it's mouth into it's brain.
The beast froze, shuddered, and then fell, dead. But it seemed that that wasn't enough for Hakumei, for it straightened it's long fingers and gouged three deep holes in it's skin and pulled out it's fingers, flicking the blood off it's hands with a swift movement.

But is OK. biggrin )) Savanna pushed back her hair with a soft sigh of irritation. Listening carefully - damned if she'd let another one sneak up on them while she was all caught up in her own business - she set another bolt in the crossbow and cocked it again. Two down, she thought. Eight to go. Lovely. Making her way towards the dead Granbear, she found that the last inch or so of the hilt was still sticking out of the roof of the creature's mouth. Without the slightest change of expression, she reached into the animal's cavernous maw and yanked the dagger loose. A slight examination assured her that there was nothing critically wrong with it after its Explorations of the Granbear Brain. Wiping off the worst of the blood and brain matter on the animal's fur, she returned it to its sheath. At least she hadn't lost it. Keeping all her senses on the alert, she waited for the next. Or for their orders, whichever came first. So look into my eyes,
and tell me what you see.

Reign snorted, shaking herself and her fur, before turning around and glaring at Shino.
"All right, spill it," she growled, snarling. "Your scent is the same, but you are NOT the same pathetic child that first appeared for this task. WHO ARE YOU?"Shut up, shut up.

Shino mimicked Reign and growled, though he didn't do it to mock her, he didn't take kindly to yelling, especially at such a stupid question. "I'm Shinoyaru Dijurei, who the hell else would I be?!"
He was telling the truth after all, he was Shino Dijurei, but she was also right...he wasn't the same child as before. Such complexity for one individual, one wonders how he bears it.

"I've got my eye on you..." she hissed before she whirled and padded away, pausing and sniffing the air. "There's one more on the island," she stated after a moment. "After we eliminate that one, we'll cross the bridge again." Turning, she broke into a dash and almost seemed to fly away. "Let's go!"Shut up, shut up.
