"Then you better start with me as I have no idea how to run a ship." She poked his chest. Best the girl learn to pull her own weight then be spoiled to the point of thinking she was better then anyone else...Especially a boy.

Davy nodded. "Alright...but I cant take to the lower level of the ship yet. First I'll teach you one of the most important jobs that I have to do..to be a navigator." He pulls out some small rolled up maps.

"That is the key to tell you what the different symbols on the map mean..some are normal.." He pointed out the symbol for safe city and pirate haven. "...And some that are for cationary purposes.." He then pointed out the symbol for different ports into the Other Side.

He puts the small silver plate off to the side as he placed one of the maps down flat on the tray. He then takes out a small compass. "We are right here..."He points off the coast where they had met. "and from what the compass is saying, we are traveling in north east direction. I use this.."He shows her a small tool that looked like two metal rods. "I measure the distance with this to find out how long it will take for my ship to get from this port to the next."

Davy looks at the map, using the divider to measure the distance between here and the port of entry. "I say..about four days and night journeys to reach here.." He points off a small port off the coast of Japan.

"Ew....four days and nights of sickness." She wrinkled her nose, thrilled at prospect of her stomach threatening to give up everything she puts in it. She nibbled away at the crackers more. A life at sea...she was excited about that...but now with a baby on the way...
A frown graced her lips. "Isn't it suppose to be a curse to have a woman aboard a ship?" let alone a baby she thought.
