When finished laping at the water, he felt rather refreshed and contented. He let out a sigh as he was tempted to just jump in and float down stream, just to see where it took him. But his thoughts were cut off by the sudden arrival of Nariko once more. Handing him the full flask he nodded his head. "Your welcome. And no..I'm sure my good one is fine, but I can't feel it for some reason." he replied, putting the flask back in it's designated spot as he eyed a tree. I wonder if I can still walk. We both need medical attention and the last thing she needs is to carry me around he thought to himself as he eyed the tree longer, finally getting to one knee and crawling toward it, holding his bad leg away from the ground as best he could
Sure as rain, he hugged the tree and managed to stand up on his one good leg. Indeed he was right. It still worked, and that tingling "sleeping foot" feeling came back. It felt odd, but at least he could stand and not looks so pathetic. He tried putting his other foot on the ground and it managed fine too..same feeling and a bit of pain from the wound, but he was only standing, so he tried taking a step or two. First with his injured leg...good leg held up fine with the weight, but his bad one didn't. Catching himself with the complete stride of his other, he figure it would be a good limp, but he could still walk. "Should we try to go find a doctor?" he said as he looked back

Turning around as she watched him try and get up with success, and then tested out his legs, she scolded herself for not being able to look away....but managed to look to the side as he stumbled. Stop that you idiot...last thing you need is to get all amoured all over again. Nariko convinced herself, flicking her ears up and turning her head as he spoke up; standing up on his own.
Rising up to her own feet, she was going to offer to just carry him but was reminded of her own back injury and how very painful that would be. Catching his glance she nodded, not particularly wanting to hang out so close to the beach anyways. "Well hey, any improvement is good right?" She spoke up before walking up to his side. "We'd make quicker ground if I helped you, unless you're alright with taking it easy?" Despite the bit of a size difference she was sure she'd be able to still be a decent crutch of sorts; as she bent down to slip on her armor quickly.

He watched her slip her armor back on and having some courtesy, he looked ahead, scratching his head, but then reaching for a nice sturdy stick. This'd make a fine walking stick he thought as he tested it out, satisfied with how it supported him. He walked over and grabbed his helmet, putting it on a magnetic plate on his back and turning to face the open field. "I don't think it matters...but the real question..." he trailed off as he took a few steps out and looked around. Then turn back to her with a hopeless smile. "Where's the doctor" he grinned nervously, wanting to rub the back of his head, but refraining from doing so

Securing the chest plate and adjusting it to be a bit higher on her shoulders to keep the metal plating from her wounds; she vixen looked up to see Dutch had secured himself a walking stick. Thankful she wouldn't have to watch him limp on his own, she stood up straight before faltering her expression. "Doctor...?" Well crap....she wasn't familiar with any doctors herself; she hadn't exactly needed one till Dutch came along. Of course he wouldn't know any, so the vixen stood and scowered her memories for any.
"Oh! Wait! My mother had a doctor....I'm not sure where he's based from but the number is back at the house; it has to be. It would be a heck of a lot shorter than trying at the noodle shop; since I know he does a lot of house calls." Nariko offered, pulling out her writing book and flipped a few pages, looking around the field as she tried to calculate. "Shortest distance there would be this way." With a point of her paw she pointed south west, which took them along a series of open meadows and thin forests.

He watched her for a moment, noticing that there may have not been any hope for the doctor idea, but right as he was about to think otherwise, she burst out and began looking for her aforementioned paper. "Good." he nodded in response as he waited for her to point the way, soon seeing that she did.
"Alright. You lead." He motioned with his walking stick to the meadow at which she pointed to. "Ladies first after all" he remarked with a somewhat chuckle in his voice. He looked to the mountain pass while he waited for her to move past him. Last thing he wanted to find out was that there was something following them

Snapping her book closed with her hand, the vixen returned it to its proper spot in her compartment once she was sure she could lead the way. However when Dutch had given her open and almost gentlemanly lead, she could only shake her head with a light hearted chuckle of her own. "I'm sure there are no ladies here, but being a female I'll take that as a compliment none the less." The vixen mused and with a flick of her tail took lead.
Taking her pace slow at first, one of her ears twisted to keep constant track of his pacing to gauge whether she should pick it up or slow it down. The sun was nice on her face, as the clean air from the woods almost made her enjoy the walk...despite the fact that some of the discomfort was returning as the ointment was being absorbed and drying; but it was like a mosquito bite in comparison to what she felt before.
"You doing alright back there?" Nariko asked, giving him a glance over her shoulder.

"I'm fine...Just..making sure nothing follows us" he stated, starting to walk himself, and turn his head back ahead.
"You should take that as a compliment...apart from that kiss" he beamed, knowing not may not have been the best topic of conversation, but apart from the initial reaction, he didn't get much of a vibe, and as much as he hated to admit it, but...he thought maybe there was a small spark for her...maybe
But his mind quickly trailed off of that as he finally stepped foot into the grassy meadow. He had always appreciated the open field...even if it was filled with dead Covenant or not. As soon as they got on the hill, he paused to look around for a moment, before continuing to walk, spotting a group of kits frolicking around and playing silly games that children where just prone to do.

Making a grimace of an expression at the mere mention of that creature possibly following them she felt her stomach twist. She really, really didn't want to see that thing for a long, long time; yet she assumed it wouldn't be the last she saw of the creature.
Almost not even catching as he began to talk once more, the vixen strained to hear what he had to say; but almost wished she hadn't after all when it sunk in. A blush quickly spread over her face like wildfire as she turned her head a little too quickly and miss stepped; catching herself after an awkward twist and a yelp of surprise. Dying a little inside she only wished she was smaller and easier to hide away. "W-w-well I will then...apart from t-that!" Nariko stammered, all while cursing herself mentally as she refused to look back at him for fear she'd be made fun of for her bright red face. Bringing a paw back to her lips, the felt funny at the mere memory of that brief moment.
Flicking her ears back after she had began that descent from the hill she too picked up the sounds of kits; looking over and stopping on the trail with a smile. Forgetting about her previous embarrassment she tilted her head, wondering what they were playing since she never really did unless their grandma was around. "Awwww..." She coo'ed to herself, pretty sure though she was never that small as some of them were.

Knowing full well she was bright red as she wouldn't face him, he snickered. "Got you redder than a tomato didn't I" he said in a victorious voice. Where it came from, he had no idea...maybe it was the recent encounter with death itself....or at least one that he didn't see coming.
Looking to the kits, he couldn't help but admire their spirit as the played endlessly..but the odd sound of a woman coo had him looking around very confused. It wasn't until he realized that the coo came from Nariko. His face couldn't be any more shocked at her reaction

That warm smile remained on her lips until once more she found herself catching her breath, looking to Dutch before nearly falling over at that shocked expression on his face. "What! I'm not allowed to think anything is cute?" She put her paws on her hips and gave a defiant huff, although it lacked the luster it had before.
Yet the more she thought about it, the more her face turned red as she shot her eyes away from him and the kits. "Well yeah..." Nariko responded, seeing as she was still red that she better answer him, least she'd hear that victory tone all the way to the house. "Its not often I get caught off guard like that..." she started, but feeling that pounding in her heart increase she turned to start walking again. "...it wasn't like I was prepared to have a first kiss then and there you know." The vixen breathed out as she passed the ODST, deciding not to dwell any longer around the kits least they got scared of their haggered appearances.

He chuckled at her reaction, and nearly fell over himself, but managed to catch himself as he wasn't paying full attention either. "I never said that....I was surprised that such a lady like thing would come from you" he snickered once more, casting one last glance to the kits before they turned off. He caught a glance of a mysterious figure watching over them...like a silent protector.
"Well then...." he mused a little, picking up the pace long enough to catch up to her. "Did you like it?" he said with an extremely devious smirk plastered on his mug

"My mother's work, I assure you." She grinned ruefully, knowing full well if she had it her way a dress wouldn't have ever touched her body and her paws would have been calloused to the point of armor itself. However, as her mother's only daughter she was deadset on having one...instead of another "son". "Besides, who doesn't like little squirts? Just looking at them makes me feel younger." That look of wonder and amazement at the simplest of things...if she didn't have to deal with her brother she would have loved to go back to those days.
However said reminiscent notions were short lived as once more her face heated; looking over her shoulder to see that smirk on his face. Don't beat the cripple, don't beat the cripple... She thought with a hint of spite before swallowing hard and looking back ahead. "I-it....was....." What was it? It had brought back some painful emotions of the emotional hell she'd been through the past weeks, the confusion and turmoil of forgetting him.....and now in a matter of hours, losing all the progress she'd gained. Sighing, she could only think for a moment What have you done to me, Dutch? before replying, "Better than I expected."

He listened half heartedly. He somehow knew deep inside she was just bluffing and she really thought the kits where cute. He knew he did.
"True...gotta admire them in that sense" he nodded in agreement, soon catching her tomato red face return. He watched as she was clearly flailing with words. All the while she did, he thought of some that may have been what she was thinking of. The worst one ever, too wet, not enough tongue....wait he had to stop in his thinking and shake it off as it was become more like fantasizing than anything else. Yet he was struck speechless and dumbfounded when she finally came up with an answer. "Wha....wh....r...really??" he stammered.

Stopping dead in her tracks she looked at him as if for a moment she was going to tear him a new one, when of course it was faded quickly to more embarrassment. With all this smug behavior he had did he really not have faith in his abilities!? "Not that I would know, mind you!" She began, but of course found her eyes looking away least her whole body morph into a blush. Of course she had to get tortured with such a first kiss as is, she figured, fate would never let her have it easy. "I'm pretty sure my mind shut down...but it was nice." She raised a paw and scratched her head as if trying to think.
"Although i'm sure with how you're acting now and how unpleased you looked after the fact you kissed me, it must not have been your best then." Nariko trailed, giving a gentle frown of thought as she remembered how quickly he turned and dismissed the whole thing.

He chuckled lightly to himself as he noted her reaction. "Oh...ok..you keep saying that and maybe you'll believe it" he said with a shake in his head. Obviously he was kidding by the tone of his voice, but he was never sure if she would catch on to that. It may have been the poison's lease on his life, but he couldn't help but look her over when she wasn't looking, oddly enough feeling rather attracted.
"No..wanna give me another chance" he said with a grin knowing full well she would probably slap him upside the head for that comment, but it was worth the try. They had been spiraling downhill for so long...someone had to make a move...even if the other wouldn't take the gesture seriously
