Which is totally fair. I wouldn't want to make you believe the same way I do, but the fact that you don't hate me for my beliefs is enough for me. At the very least, that means we can have a decent conversation.

My name is David Lee. I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, UT. I served in the Texas Dallas mission in 1983-84. After my mission, I went to a school for computer programming, and then I enlisted in the US Navy. A couple of years ago, I retired from the Navy after twenty years of service. My wife Hilda and I met for the first time at a Church activity that was sponsored by the Singles Ward that I was attending in LA. Hilda was attending the Spanish branch that was in the same stake. We were married in the Salt Lake temple, and on this July 1st, we will be celebrating our 16th anniversary. I have a testimony that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the words of God, and that this is God's church. I also have a testimony of the blessings that we receive from God, such as the blessing of being married in the temple for time and all eternity. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

I have a Facebook account, and I like to play some of the games on Facebook. One of those games is called Monster Galaxy. Like the other games, this game offers a couple daily bonuses, but in order to claim one of them, you have to sign up for Gaia Online, which I did to get that bonus. After I signed up, I kept coming back primarily to take care of the aquarium that I have here on Gaia, and while exploring the various guilds that there are, I found this guild, and of course I had to join this one. That is how I got on Gaia. I would like to mention that it appears that I'm not the only adult here.

Krallna Keiji Blasphemac Quick question, isn't the Mormon faith Judeo-christian based, but kinda pantheon - ee? Since no one seems to be answering this, I'd be happy to. X3 No, it isn't. Interesting thought though. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has been around since Joseph Smith (a former prophet) established it in the 1830's. If you would like to learn more about it's history, you can visit here: http://lds.org/churchhistory/historyNot trying to egg you on or anything, but seeing as you asked, this area should tell you all about what we're based on, what we believe and why. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost (1st article of Faith. You may find more here: http://lds.org/scriptures/pgp/a-of-f/1?lang=eng - these establish our major beliefs and doctrines).

That sounds pretty Mono-Worship-Pantheistic to me. Though, again, being an Atheist, I should say that I feel that any religious view is kinda silly, but It's not my place to out right demand you believe something. We're free people and what makes you happy is your thing.

Ummm... yes and not really. Jesus is his son, yes. But we believe that we are also children of our Heavenly Father. In the pre-mortal life, God basically asked us if we wanted to be like him and we all said yes. You probably know about the whole satin's plan and Jesus' plan if you've read the bible and how a third of us followed satan(or lucifer) and never came to earth in mortal bodies. The rest of us chose to come to earth to be tried. Jesus was there every step of the way (and still is) to guide us through and give us instructions on how to learn and live righteously so that we might become like him and the Father and be able to return with them to live forever. Jesus came to earth in a mortal body to live, suffer and die for the sins that we make in this world so that we would be able to do this. We believe that if we live righteously in our lives and are obedient to his commandments, and follow humbly the guides he has so graciously given to us, that we can return to our Father in heaven once more with our physical bodies. We don't know or remember much of the life we came from, but that is due to the veil that was placed over our minds when we came to earth. The Father was once a man like any of us who followed his father's word and became a God through his obedience and he wants us to have the same opportunity.
We are not really pantheist, though I can see how it would seem that way. God and Jesus created the universe, the earth and the inhabitants thereof. He was and is a living being who is wise, all-knowing, and all-powerful. But there are many laws the universe holds that I could never explain at this point in my life. This is only a small portion of what we believe and know to be true.
I can see why you would think any religion is silly, but if you ask me (and I know you didn't, but I'm going to say it anyway ^.^) Atheism seems kinda silly. Looking from anybody's point of view, just about anything can be considered 'kinda silly' on a number of levels. Whether it's silly in one person's mind or not is of little consequence. wink

And the atheism being silly thing is something I can see too, from anyone's point of view anything can be silly.

I really considered whether to post this here or not, but I figured it'd get a discussion going. Here goes -
I've been told by religious people that I, an Atheist, am incapable of seeing beauty in this world, but when it gets down to it, I can see that beauty more vividly than a religious person ever could.
In a religion, we were put here, things made for us, a miracle by an omnipotent being that made all goodness, but when I look through scientifically learned eyes, I see that everything, my life, humans, the planet, and even the aspect of life itself came by from chance. That small chance survived, and continued to survive for so long, it made this awe inspiring world and it made me, in a sense. I wasn't truly made, but my life was given possibility by a stagnated pool that happened to grow some form of primordial life when earth was a little rock, floating in a vast nothing rotating a star, and though all the hardships that pond scum became trees and animals, those animals evolved and became complex life forms, and from those, one animal gained cognitive thought processes, and looked at the world around them and said "This is my home, and it is amazing."
Sometimes the greatest of things don't need a design, and just happen naturally. All of this by chance accentuates that beauty, and even looking into the vastness of our galaxy, coming to the realization that life is not common at all, That chance becomes far more stunning.
