Owan smiled as she gave him her name. He stood slowly his legs shaking somewhat as he made his was to his private room taking a quick shower to warm himself and clean himself. He then dressed similarly, but everything was shorter shorts, and a t-shirt, and a lack of his lab coat showing he was more at ease as he came to sit at the edge of the tank his feet slipping in swishing around a bit. "You have a beautiful name you know." he said not sure if she was listening or not, but he busied himself straightening his glasses his hair somewhat poofy after his shower.

"I bet she was as nice as you, but questions ummm... let me think." he stated having to think his mind somewhat scrambled after falling in the pool. "Okay I've got a few, can you breathe underwater, or do you need to come up for air like a dolphin? You mentioned family,how old are they, and how old do your people normally live to be? Finally why do you want to teach me to swim, instead of going home?" he asked having thought all the questions through, the last being more his own curiosity than normal scientific question that he might ask later, but for now he wanted to know just a couple simple things.

Owan nodded to the first couple of answers taking in the information and understanding what she meant fairly easily. However her final answer hurt him a little bit. "If thats what your really worried about, then I can just release you now, no one would believe me, and I don't plan on telling anyone." he said pulling his legs out of the water and standing. "Ya know, I appreciate the honesty, but maybe it's just better if when I let you go, I don't know how to swim, then I could drown and then all your worries will be long gone." Owan said sadly as he headed for the kitchen the sounds of him preparing food could be heard along with the sound of someone falling to the ground followed by him cursing in pain.

When she rolled into sight she would See owan sitting on the floor trying to wrap his hand that was bleeding a nice little Gash along the palm of his hand. When he noticed her however he stood to move over to her. "What are you doing out of the Tank you'll dry out, and then I'll never forgive myself.." he said bending down to pick her up some blood seeping through his wrap. "Now lets get you back in, and then I can give myself some stitches." he said as he picked her up gently his hand stinging as some of the water on her met with his cut throught he wrap making it burn. He pushed through that, and carried her back setting her in gently the full pull of salt water making him want to remove the whole hand and he withdrew it his brow knitted in pain. "Are you ok?" he asked teeth somewhat gritted as he tried not to look in pain even as color was slowly draining from his face.

Owan shook his head. "You can wrap it after I stitch it up, I dont want this taking forever to seal itself." he said as he did dip it in the water again the burning once again returning as he walked over to a small kit near his desk pulling out a needle and some medical thread. He sterilized the needle before proceeding, to quickly and deftly stitch his hand up, wincing occasionally as the needle hit a never here or there. When he was done he walked over with some gauze and sat at the edge holding out his freshly stiched hand for her. "Here you go." he said looking tired from the loss of blood. "This is actually why I'm not a human doctor, I cant stand all the blood they deal with." he said as if trying to make small talk.

Owan sighed as she apologized to him. "You shouldn't apologize for stating you mind, it just kinda hurt a bit, I may not be doing all the right things, but I honestly thought you had some faith in me." he said looking like he felt worse that she was apologizing. "I'm a marine biologist, I know what happens to rare, or endangered species that become known to the general public, or even the private ears and eyes of science. I wouldn't do that to you and your people, I don't wanna be the person responsible for Mermaids being captured and sold on the black markets." he said looking angry as he spoke of the people who would do these things. He truly cared about not screwing her, or her race.

"My father... at one point in his life was a marine, who was assigned to a submarine, the vessel was destroyed by an old mine in the water, my father should have died, but he didn't." Owan said as he looked off like he was recalling the story he'd been told. "He told me years later, when he was about to die, that he'd been saved by a mermaid, I thought he'd just been saved by a manatee, sailors often mistake them for mermaids, least thats the popular consensus." Owan added pausing to look back to her his fingers touching her again. "He died, believing it was a real mermaid, but I thought he'd just imagined it to try and explain how he'd survived, and then I found you, and I started thinking I was going crazy. I want to study you to prove to myself that you are really here, that my father wasn't hallucinating. I don't know I just had to know..." he said lowly just unsure of what to say, he didn't have a good answer in his opinion.
