He slowed, and was soon next to her. she glanced over just in time to see him pushing his glasses up. She noticed more and more that seemed to be a common habit of his, even if he didn't always need to do it. Something she noticed.
"I've read a lot about their computer science programs. they were the goal for everyone in the robotics club." "Six year, and with that program," She paused, considering something. that was a large amount of time, she had thought she had seen his age somewhere posted or in his file, but this was making her think that she didn't really know it, and she was surprised by what she figured his age would have to be now, "Just out of curiosity, I might have read the reports wrong somewhere, but that would make you about 27 then?"
She grinned a little, looking ahead again so she could watch where she stepped. "No, I was in the Poke'University... only for a semester though, I left for Team Rockets shortly after, a part of me regrets this, I could be much more comfortable with AI and programing had I stayed." But, she knew she couldn't stay, there was nothing in the world that could have kept her there.

"Heh, yeah. I was pretty psyched when I got in." The agent absently pushed aside a whippy shoot as they passed through an open patch of spindly trees too young to be called saplings, looking back at Faleen.
"Where'd you get that from?" he blinked, puzzled by her guess.

Faleen blinked back at him, not saying anything for a couple of seconds as she did the math in her head again. What did she do wrong? "You said you were in a six year program? wouldn't... you need to be-" She paused again, trying to consider what she hadn't considered, but the same round about numbers came up.
Her cheeks were starting to turn a little pink.

"Oh." It was half-laughed, but not unkindly; with the way he ducked his head over a patch of terrain that didn't really need to be checked for pitfalls, Hayes seemed a little self-conscious more than anything else.
"No, your math's right," he reassured her, running a hand through his hair as they moved along. They were at the end of the open area; he paused to step up on a fallen log. "I started at sixteen," he clarified. "I'm twenty-five."

It was a bit of a relief to hear that her math wasn't wrong, but she was interested in hearing his explanation.
ash he hopped up onto the fallen log, Faleen paused, looking down at it while she got ready to step over it. lifting her leg and easily enough stepping onto it, then lifted the other to step down. When Hayes mentioned the age that he started college.
She looked over at him again, eyes wide in surprise. That was her first mistake, looking away from the ground. "You were sixt- AAH!"
The Agent, suddenly stumbled and dropped out of sight, followed very shortly by a 'SPLASH!'
Alarmed, Umbreon darted up onto the log his human had just been on, wide eyes staring at where his master had disappeared to. He found her, pushing herself up into a sitting position in a stream that was now flowing over her hips and legs. looking stunned and completely soaked. "Breon! Umbreon!" He shot a soft glare over at Hayes.
Faleen's face was pretty red by now, thought she kept her head down, staring at the water. ... Where had this come from?

"Faleen!" Hayes found himself calling out, echoed by a startled "Breon!" from Binary as she bounded onto the log, alert and ready to defend. She'd screamed. But where-?
He followed her Umbreon's gaze down to the stream, where the other agent sat soaked and shocked in equal amounts.
"Hey," the blond called, crouching down to get a better look. "You okay?"

This... was... humiliating. Faleen was usually much more coordinated and graceful then this, yer here she was, sitting in a good foot and a half of water, the murky waters around her flowing as the mud had been disturbed.
From above where she had fallen from, she heard Hayes ask if she was okay. She had to consider this... knowing she could just say yes, but words were proving to be a hard thing to form at the moment, embarrassment forcing her mouth to remain tightly shut, leaving the dripping Agent sitting in silence, her head bowed, hands by her hips half buried in the soft soil, knees bent pulled up over the water and pressed together.

When she didn't answer or move, Hayes frowned. The agent paused long enough to unclip his backpack, shrug it off on the dry side of the log and check the depth of the water right below him, then jumped in.
The water was cold, and the bottom was silty. Eurgh, wet socks floated through his mind as he waded the short distance to Faleen and touched her on the shoulder. "Fal," he repeated over the sound of the stream, brow knitted and concern threading through his voice and he leaned down, "are you hurt? Did you land on something?"
Binary stared at Umbreon in horror. she hissed, ears back. It ended in a panicked squeak.

She didn't really know how long she would be sitting there if left to her own devices, she wasn't going to get that option though, sicne she heard a splashing of something, or someone else dropping into the stream. Hazel eyes blinked rapidly twice, and then there was a touch to her shoulder.
Faleen finally looked up, though with extreme hesitance, peering up at him from under her brow. the look from the other Agent that met her surprised her a little. "I'm not hurt." She said finally. lifting her chin a little more. "Just... startled."
He hadn't needed to come in here after her... and to be honest she was taken aback that he had, getting himself wet as well. Why did he do that?
Umbreon heard Binary, but he didn't say anything to her, his eyes were fixed on Hayes, the way he walked over to his master, the look he was giving her, and now he was touching her! Umbroen's lips curled back, and the dark type bared a row on strong pointed teeth.

Whew.
For whatever reason, that had really been a scare.
"Geez," the agent laughed. Relief formed little creases at the corner of his eyes and made him grin. "I thought you fell on a rock or something. Here-" he offered a hand to her while water creeped up his cargos, oblivious to the snarling Umbreon on the shore. "That pack makes it tough to stand up."
doing!> was all a horrified Binary could repeat.

Her face tilted back down, and turned away slightly when he smiled and told her what he thought had happened, her face burning even warmer. "No, I'm fine, I apologize for misleading you." She offered, quietly. Knowing she would have to stand eventually, the robotic engineer moved her hands, brushing them off and leaning forward, only to find a hand already being offered to her.
This casued her to freeze for a few seconds, her breath catching. Its just an offered hand you foolish clumsy women? Whats the problem? She wasn't used to accepting much in the way of help, she was supposed to be independent after all... yeah, thats why this took her off guard.
Still, with a glance up at the man once more, she reached out to take his hand "Thank you..."
Oh this was the final straw! This was getting way to out of control, he could see it on his master's face, he could see it in her body language. Umbreon could not let her make another mistake like this.
A thick growl rumbled from his throat, before the Umbreon leapt off the log, landing int he water as well and darting forward to sink his teeth into the standing agent's boot.

"It's fine; don't apologize." He was laughing and shaking his head, reaching a steady hand around Faleen's wrist, while somewhere else his feet were sinking into the mud and Binary was barking on shore.
He could fit his hand around it - her wrist, he meant - and the warmth of her skin was at a contrast to the chill flowing past his ankles. "Sure." Hayes sounded a little breathless as he pulled her upright, and his features were faintly flushed as he seemed to pause in the sudden silence that followed his words. Something was pounding in his ears.
Her eyes weren't green. They were hazel.
"Heh," he chuckled quietly, and then again. And then it was a laugh, as it started to sink in that he was standing thigh deep in a chilly stream on a near autumn day after jumping in without thinking to save a girl who'd only been embarrassed, not- pain
"s**t-"
Binary's eyes were the size of dinner plates as her human's expression suddenly changed and he fell, disappearing briefly under the water. she shrieked, dancing a frantic circle on the log.

Her own fingers wrapped around his wrist in turn, long, but still quite strong, considering how much she uses them in her building. She noticed how much bigger his hands were then her own though, not unusually so in the least, Faleen considered herself a fit, strong person, yet to her surprise, with Haye's help, she was pulled up from the water, with surprising ease on the other Agent's part. This took her by surprise, suddenly finding herself back on her feet, wrist closed in a gentle, but firm grip.
... Comfortable.
It came to her mind before she could stop it
Her eyes widened a little when she found a pare of hazel eyes behind glasses looking back at her. "Ah... thank you, Hayes." Reaching a hand up to peel strands of her hair off of her cheek,
She was about to let go... thinking she had no reason to hold on anymore, when Hayes suddenly swore. Taken by Surprise, Faleen was drawn tot he other movement closer to the water. A black creature with golden rings. "Umbreon!" Faleen demanded, mostly in Shock This... this wasn't happening, Umbreon never did this!
Still, he was biting Hayes, and Faleen reacted quickly, something she learned how to do form working with several pokemon wishing nothing more then to eat or end her. Umbroen let out a snarl that was cut off when Faleen reached down, grabbing whatever gathering of skin she could from the Umbreon and yanked him off of Hayes, one hand making sure to reach over and pry his jaws open, rather roughly.
The dark type was dragged up into her arms, clinging to him tightly, with a hand still wrapped around his lower jaw. Umbreon was uncomfortable, panting and still looking angry, but not daring to move with the way Faleen was holding him.
"Oh my gosh! are you okay Hayes?!"

It had been shock that made him fall, surprise at being caught in such an unguarded state - the agent pulled his head and shoulders free of the water, coughing violently and fumbling for his glasses, which were thankfully still on his face, little more than tiny panes for his wet bangs to stick to and stream water down in rivulets, and he'd put his hand in the mud-
Good thing I left my pack on shore- he thought, as the pain in ankle changed consistency from sharp and pressing to hollow, does that mean i'm bleeding
"Yeah," he coughed, eyes squinted shut against the water running down his face as he pushed himself up with care. "Yeah I'm okay-" Binary took the plunge and frantically paddled his way.
the young Umbreon babbled, looking back and forth between the elder in Faleen's grip and her human before she burst out with the first thing that came to mind. her too?>

Faleen looked downright horrified. "I'm so sorry Hayes, I don't- He's never done this before! He didn't hurt you did he?"
Umbreon twitched when Binary ran to her master, unable to talk with the fingers pressed to his jaw, his reply came quickly and forcefully with a warning growl. This of course didn't make Faleen any happier.
The Agent turned, and promptly threw the Umbreon onto the water by the shore. Reaching out to point a finger up by the log "Get up there, this instant!" She told him "And don't you dare move from that stop." Faleen was not messing around, and that much was clear with the tone she used with her dark type. Making it very clear that the pokemon did not want to know what would happen if he disobeyed this order. So... like a good boy that he's SUPPOSED to be, Umbreon, who looked completely unaffected by the rough handling and the toss into the water, drew himself up and hurried to get back onto shore, while Faleen quickly removed her backpack from her back and put it down on mostly solid ground.
Faleen's glare relaxed as she turned her back on him, and moved over to where Hayes had fallen, checking the water for blood.
