Ling smiled and nodded his head in dismissal of the young cub. He then curled his body up, resting his head on his paws as he yawned. The day's heat was getting to him, and sleep was quick in coming. He would stay awake till the others slept, than he would take his turn.

He looked to the pink female that towered above him, then back to Ling as he was dismissed. Hesitating slightly, he followed Xia to the dead animal and cautiously took a bite from it, tasting it before taking a larger chunk of meat from the corpse and eating starvingly. "Thanks you," hae said between mouthfuls of food. It didn't osund fully gracious, though. More forced and guarded than that.

Ling chuckled and watched the young one eat. He was pleased with Xia taking over control of the youner ones. She was not that much older then them, but she still had a way about her that demanded attention.
The large male watched on, keeping to himself the thoughts he had on his young pride. hopefully in time they would grow strong, powerful, like Karver's pride, or Rackna's...that was his hope.

After finishing his meal and licking his paws clean of any blood, Shaitani looked back at the adult feline watching on. Comtemplating what to do, it looked as though he was staring at Ling with a strange look on his face, but with eyes stranger than his face - more hidden and empty.

Ling noted the look and mimiced it back rather oddly to the cub. "Is there something on your mind little cub?" He chuckled and rose from the ground his body slightly wobbly from the heat. He moved to the left over carcass and finished it off.

Apparently Ling's words snapped Shaitani back to reality, though with littlemore than a change in facial expression, "No, nothing. Just..." He paused a moment, unsure of what he was going to say next. The sly look reclaimed his face, minus his eyes, "Just thinking how cool it must be to be in charge of your own pride."

Ling chuckled and puffed out his chest, shaking his mane, the dark fur puffing out about his head. "It is a truely...interesting thing..." He smirked, his eyes shimmering with good humor towards the cub. He knew that there would come a time where someone, perhaps even this cub, could challenge him, but for now, he would keep that from his mind.
"In time...you will have your own pride as well little one...or..if you so choose, I welcome you to mine for as long as need be."

"Well," he said, puffing out his chest and attempting to shake his head in the same manner as Ling, but failing miserably, "maybe I'll just have to take you on one day when I'm as big and strong as you are now."
Shaitani held the position until he could hold the air in no longer. As much as he respected Ling, he still held back from him and remained guarded under a facade of the typical cub.

Ling gave the child a sideways glance as he cleared out what was left of the carcass. He disposed of it and then returned to the cave. "When that day comes, I trust you will do you best...and I will do my best to stop you..." he moved to the back of the cave, his tail swishing behind him. "I think you will be a strong fighter little one...I will have a reason to worry when the time comes."

Tail tapping against the gorund, Shaitani watched Ling walk away. Shaitani's ego inflated at the compliment received from the leader, and felt quite honored. He scratched in the dirt with his paw, making random lines with one nail. "..."

Ling laid down in the back of the cave, his eyes watching the little cub for a moment before he closed his eyes. He was resting, his ears still alert to the goings on in the cave. Nothing would be missed, not the smallest sound. "rest little cub...once the sun has set it shall be alright to go out for abit...the heat of the day makes us clumsy."

He looked up to Ling, wited a moment, and scuffed out the image he had crated with his nail, plopping himself down upon the raised earth in a small cloud of dust. Shifitng until he was confortable, Shaitani then closed his eyes to fall asleep, finally comfortable in a new plce to call home.

The day moved on slowly, each minute dragging as the pride slept the heat away. After hours the sun set, the evening bringing with it a cool breeze and a much less stressed king.
Ling had awoken not to long ago, and sat outside the cave enterance. He starred out at the stars his mind wandering for a time being, waiting for the kitten's to eventually wake.

As the sun set and the stars began to look down on the pride, Shaitani was roused by a small breeze kicking dust into his face. He jupmed up, wiping the dust from his face frantically. "Oh." It was to himself - a self-realization that nothing was eating his face. "..." He looked around cautiously, checking his surroundings - he had been having a nightmare, and was making sure he was not in the same location. Deciding that his reality was different, he stood andshook the dust from the rest of his body before trying to figure out exactly where he was.
"I had been wandering... No idea where I had started or where I'd end up or why I was alone. I fell upon a group of cubs and a male King. Asked to joined the pride..." Shaitani nodded, satisfied with his recollection, and seated himself once more, beginning to clean himself.

Ling turned his head, hearing the soft scuffling sounds in the cave. Seeing the young kitten awake ne nodded and turned his head once more to look out over the tall grasslands. His mind wandered thinking on his pride, and on his former pride. Perhaps he would speak with Karver...form alliances...He sighed, lowering his head.
