I always though neesan was the ending you put on someone's name meaning older brother...? sweatdrop or is it nii.... nii-san: older brother nee-san: older sister also, when hyphenated, wouldn't shoujo-ai be girl love, where as, when not hyphenated, shoujo ai would be girl ai or girl love depending on how you(or the reader) chose to percieve it? i have a gf thats form japan. i think you bouth got it worng on the umm older brother part. isent it neii? thats what my gf always calls me. neii-san

well, if soujo-ai is the thing with the plot, and yuri is the thing with the sex...
then what do you call a manga with a plot that leads to sex?

i was told Shoujo-ai is not used in japan...that all of it is classified as yuri.

Generally a term used to classify a genre of manga/anime/etc. possessing a romantic plot based around two girls. Yuri - 'Lily' This could be derived from two places. One would be where in 1970's Japan homosexuals were referred to as the Rose and Lily Clans/Gangs (Bara-zoku and Yuri-zoku), Bara being Rose (Bara is now used for 'real' japanese homosexual manga involving men). The second possibility is that Yuri was one of the first couples of this nature to be written about. Kei and Yuri, the original Dirty Pair. Tachi - Literally meaning "Standing." This is the Japanese term for a 'butch' lesbian in a girlxgirl relationship. Examples are Utena, Haruka, and so on. Neko - Literally meaning "Cat." This is the Japanese term for a 'femme' lesbian in a girlxgirl relationship. Examples are Anthy, Michiru, and so on. This could be considered the lesbian version of a 'uke'. Loli - Also known as Lolicon. Pictures or stories pertaining to (usually sexual) relationships of young girls with other young girls, young boys, or adults. I never knew about the tachi and neko things but I find it easier to just use seme and uke.
Tachi meaning "weasel" ((I believe)), and Neko meaning "cat" show the difference between the butch and b***h, I suppose =Ptachi means weasel. Tachi means... well, a plethora of different things. Cut, stand, mansion, nature of a person, etc. Please ignore my weird-looking post, I'm not quite sure how to fix it...

Onee-Chan/Onee-San/Nee-Chan = Older sister
Onii-Chan/Onii-San/Nii-Chan = Older brother
These can also be used for someone who is like an older sibling but not blood or marriage related.

Hmm...I actuallyu prefer to use seme and uke. It's commonly used in yuri too.
Ah, speaking of Onee-san, there's alot of yuri revolving around "Onee-sama".
And older girl having a relationship with a younger girl, usually their kohai (underclass-man).

Herrmm... Interesting. A Tachi and a Neko? Lol. How cute. However, "seme" and "uke" are the popular terms, so I don't think people will be using those much. Still, I think it's cute. 3nodding
