It is now my firm belief that you wouldn't know a good looking mecha if it bit you on the a** and slapped you with a wet noodle.

78 Star (If i want to join what shall i do?) Apparently, Xeon is unable to get online for an unknown amount of time. That said, I have no idea how you'd be able to join without him active.

Okay, the entry exam is now on the first page, third post here, for convience. Please any potential members PM the answers to myself, Shani, or Starcloud. In other news, I have finished my latest creation, necessitated by me mutilating one of the zaku's original legs. Note that this is Char's zaku II, not the MP... I cristen it the MS-06f/trop Zaku Tropen, for obvious reason. I figure when a Domtropen was heavily damaged after the war, the Zeon, running out of spare parts and instituting the united maintenence plan, this custom unit was built from the torso of the common Zaku II and the legs of a high-performance and ireplaceable Domtropen. The reactor output of the two units varies by approximately 251kw(or rather 248, considering that it was an officer's model zaku), much of which is used for the powerful heat sabre and beam weaponry of the more complicated Domtropen. Comprably weakly armored and a bit underpowered, the Zaku Tropen is still -far- more powerful on the ground than it's revered zaku bretheren. Discarding the 880mm bazooka of the Domtropen, the Zaku Tropen opts for a 90mm(using a longer cartridge, but able to use the standard 90mm rounds in a pinch) support machine gun, loaded with armor piercing rounds, offering far more firepower than the standard MMP80. It carries a heathawk for close combat, but hopefully it will never come to that, as the hoverjets should allow it to swiftly escape from any danger. The decals on the groin and heels read "CAUTION avoid excessiv use of controls" and are actually better english than the early MG kits... The rear skirt decal, quite aptly states "MOUNT RATCH" and some unreadable to the naked eye microprint. the backpack one is also unreadable. There is a misc waring label underneath the shell ejector on the left side of the gun, and the iron cross on the arm shield is from a 1/60th patlabor brocken, as is the gun itself. I also have a zaku II bazooka for it(the foldout latch on the rear skirt, for those familiar with the kit, can hold it), but it wasn't finished when I took the pictures. Questions/comments/feedback? EDIT: the left shoulder is from a Gouf, actually, with the spikes hacked off and misc round pieces(actually, I believe they were parts from Tallgeese verniers) used for covers. The yellow round decals say "88". Also the knee things are orange reflective safety triangles. sweatdrop EDIT2: and my internet problem seems mostly sorted out, so I may be back full-time very soon.

I'll critique it for ya Bossman.
1. It's formally known as the Zaku II Commander Type. Char's Zaku is his pink Zaku.
2. Heat weapons are powered by batteries, not MS reactors.
3. The Dom Tropen's Scattering Beam Gun is an overglorified flashlight. You can't actually kill anyone, unless you blind someone and it causes them to walk off a cliff.
And if those don't have any signifigance to your model, this will.
Maybe it's just me, but I think you should paint the legs in a shade of green as close to the Zaku's arms as possibe. That way, it'd be closer to the standard Zaku color scheme.

Starcloud I'll critique it for ya Bossman. 1. It's formally known as the Zaku II Commander Type. Char's Zaku is his pink Zaku. Indeed, the torso is Char's Zaku commander type, replicated in HGUC as an almost shocking pink on off-brown red. I filled in the command-fin slot with putty and repainted the whole suit(Including the legs. To my knowledge, tropens never came in a green color. Actually I had already repainted the legs with the exact same color mixture I used for the Zaku's torso, I had been making a forest type Domtropen, as there is a standad and desert already, so...). Had Garma's Zaku II been in stock, this thing would have quad headvulcans. I was attempting to point out(before my explaination of why this unit could exist) that this used to be a Char's commander type it, not the Zaku II MP version. In the description itself, I called it an officer's model, perhaps not quite the official designation for the S type zaku. Some of those more custom Zakus would more aptly be termed Type-R. *cough* Quote: 2. Heat weapons are powered by batteries, not MS reactors. E-caps(such as in beam sabres, and I would presume, heat weapons) are recharged from the reactor, I believe. The tropen's heat sabre has much more surface area, requiring, I would guess, more power to heat to effectiveness. Pure speculation, but it made sense to me. *shrug* Quote: 3. The Dom Tropen's Scattering Beam Gun is an overglorified flashlight. You can't actually kill anyone, unless you blind someone and it causes them to walk off a cliff. Indeed, I can never recall it actually being used to great sucess, but perhaps it is an antimissile countermeasure, pure speculation on my part, though, naturally. Regardless, it still draws power, and in my estimation it's fired probably from a rechargeable e-cap as well, charged with enough for a shot or two and recharged from the MS reactor(in Fed vs Zeon the average Dom can use it once, before it recharges, then again, the RX-78's beam rifle recharges too, so heh, perhaps not a valid source, being really an arcade game) The power related comments were merely to point out that, if this has the standard Zaku II powerplant, it may have less... Capability is perhaps the word I want, than the standard tropen. Perhaps I was wrong in saying essentially that a big part of the additional reactor power went to the items I mentioned, but I'm sure that some did. A good portion probably went to running the hoverjets, of course, but I figured that to be a given. I would say that the parts mismatch would allow the unit to remain at high speed for either a far lesser amount of time, or reduce the max ground speed by possibly quite a bit. Quote: And if those don't have any signifigance to your model, this will. Maybe it's just me, but I think you should paint the legs in a shade of green as close to the Zaku's arms as possibe. That way, it'd be closer to the standard Zaku color scheme. Ah, that I can explain as laziness, or something. The legs came from a forest paint tropen(which is totally complete but missing legs, and I'm contemplating grafting Rick Dom II legs to, to make a space unit, or perhaps fuel tanks, ala Alpha Azeriu...) where the limbs/purple parts were that darker green(the exact same custom blend I use for Zaku torso's). I can explain it away as that the legs in this case are more of an extension of the torso, and almost no good for walking. sweatdrop ...or something... Also, I failed to note that the thruster-nozzles on the backpack are aftermarket parts(the HGUC lacking obvious backpack thrusters), from a wave vernier pack, actually. Also interesting to note is that the joints were the proper size for a direct swap(yay for not having to adapt new joints, or glue them essentially stationary, not that this thing has terribly poseable legs), and as such, the legs retain a measure of poseability.
