Hi, I'm fairly new to the site.
I'm a senior in high school, have been playing violin since the fourth grade, absolutely love it. Getting an electric violin for my birthday, but that means waiting 4 months to get it sad
Poet, fantasy novelist (though not yet published), love to read, can't wait to graduate high school, and that's all i can currently think of to write

Hello, I'm animortis! (You can call me Victoria, as that is my name...). I've been playing violin since 4th grade, which means I'm going on my 4th year now. I'm not amazing at the violin, but despite that fact, I still love to play. We just had our spring concert in school, and if I had to choose a song from our pieces that we played, It would probably have to be one of these three:

- Pachbel's Canon,
- James Bong Theme Song, or
- Ridin the Rails

They're pretty easy (and fun) to play!

On another note, I am 13 years old, and live in Pennsylvania, USA.

Haha, I remember those! That's so cool!

Ahem, well anyway, you can call me Steph (real name) or Sukaira, whatever you prefer. I've been playing violin for 8 years now, and I'm going to try out for Youth Symphony in my state soon, which is a level under the adult orchestra....hmmm... I'm 16, and I also play harp. That's about it!

Hi, I'm Shadow (real name Tiffany) and I have been playing violin for about five years now. I play with my school orchestra mostly, but have been in my school district's Summer Strings (honors summer program) and last year I was in my district's 7th-9th grade Honors orchestra. I have gotten superiors and excellents at solo/ensemble contest both my years participating, and am the only sophomore in concert orchestra to be section leader. (2nd violin) Right now my favorite song is Benjamin Britten's Simple Symphony.
Albino Red
I am also in GTCYS (Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies) for my third year.

Twin Cities as in St. Paul/Minneapolis?!?! I live in MN too!

Hello everyone 3nodding i am Becca ^-^ lets see now, i've been playing violin for almost 8 years now... and like Kalile (who i graciously squish hug cause she invited here) i go to the Las Vegas Academy which has like THE BEST orchestra in the city/state... <--sorry if that sounds a little egotistical, but c'mon, how can you not mention it?... *ahem* anyways... um, my teacher is Jennifer Erickson/Rousseau (we're not sure which name she'd prefer to use... don't ask... i barely even get myself)... lets see now, i recently just joined a quartet (again thanks to Kalile) which we think we're going to be called Quixotic... but who knows, we'll probably never decide on a name... i haven't done very many solo stuff... just recitals for my teacher and our juries (like our semester exam) for orchestra... and um... yay! whee

My name is Shadowtabby. I have been playing the violin for four years. I wish to be in my city's youth orchestra starting January. I love my violin and I love to play it. I really need a new violin but I'm not going to give up the one I have now. I'll just have two violins when I get a new one.

Hello everyone, I'm Selphiestar, and I'm 17 years old. I've been playing since I was 9 years old, but didn't start getting serious until I was 12, and it's been great ever since. I go to a school with 5 orchestras, and I belong to the top orchestra. My school, just recently, got a $250,000 award from the Grammy Foundation for our oustanding music program. And it wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for the orchestra department. Being part of an orchestra has taught me so much. It taught me discipline, and self advocacy. I don't regret being in orchestra. It's an amazing experience, and I've learned a ton of stuff over the 8 years that I've been playing.

How long have you been playing the violin/viola?

About seven years. And I prefer to have it called a fiddle, since that's the kind of music I play.

Do you play any other instruments? (If so, for how long?)

Mandolin for a couple years, recorder for the past week or so.

What is your favorite kind of music to listen to?

Folk or old-time. I also listen to a lot of Irish, Bluegrass, Cajun, and tons and tons of cross-genre music.

What solo piece/pieces are you working on right now?

I'm currently learning a jig called Smash the Windows, I just started on a song called The Boys of Ballycastle, and I'm working on a waltz I'm writing which is as of yet untitled. Pretty soon I plan to try to learn either Star of the County Down or Ookpik.

Have you ever been in any orchestras?

No.

Do you have a band/ have you ever been in a band?

Well, me and my cousin and a friend had a little "band" for a while when we were about twelve... it was fun, but we don't do it anymore. We all got too busy. And it wasn't exactly going anywhere, as we began having conflicting ideas about what we should do.

Have you ever received any awards or unique opportunities from violin?

Not really, no.

What style of violin/viola do you prefer? (Classical, fiddle, rock, jazz, etc.)

Fiddle. It's the only kind that's ever even tempted me.

What is your general location? (Or specific if you're not afraid of stalkers)

Michigan, USA.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I don't really know what counts as spare time. I mean, there's tons of stuff I do that is basically spare time stuff, but I'm doing it because it's pretty darn important if I'm going to succeed at my hopeful career as a novelist.

Do you have any pets?

Yeah, some.

What is your favorite food?

Chocolate, naturally.

What is an interesting fact about yourself that you want people to know?

Just one? Well, let's see, you know already that I play fiddle, and I've mentioned that I like to write, so I guess the only other thing really worth telling people is that I love Alexander the Great. I mean, I actually love him. I realize that I don't know him, but love is an emotion and it doesn't really care about stuff like that.

My name is Jessica and I'm 17 years old.

How long have you been playing the violin/viola?
Almost 9 years now...?

Do you play any other instruments? (If so, for how long?)
Piano, for about the same amount of time.

What is your favorite kind of music to listen to?
Umm, you can call it indie rock, I guess.

What solo piece/pieces are you working on right now?
None in particular. I kindof slacked off this summer... redface

Have you ever been in any orchestras?
Yes, several.

Do you have a band/ have you ever been in a band?
I do not have a band & my boyfriend would like to have some violin in some of his band's songs so I will be in one.

Have you ever received any awards or unique opportunities from violin?
Yes.

What style of violin/viola do you prefer? (Classical, fiddle, rock, jazz, etc.)
Welllllll... I am currently most comfortable with classical, but since I have started going to a performing arts school, I have gotten interested in jazz and fiddle violin.

What is your general location? (Or specific if you're not afraid of stalkers)
North Carolina

What do you like to do in your free time?
Whatever I feel like doing at the time. It may be reading or practicing or sleeping or watching TV or going outside, etc.

Do you have any pets?
...A fish!

What is your favorite food?
Bread.

What is an interesting fact about yourself that you want people to know?
Umm.. My violin's name is Ringo because it reminds me of an apple and ringo means apple in Japanese. I am actually Korean and I was considering the Korean word for apple, which is Sag Wa, but I thought Ringo sounded nicer and suited my violin better.

Well anywho, my name is Amadeusz, and I've played the violin for about 6 years. My favorite music to play is classical, but I prefer to listen to what ever is on the radio {mainly rap or hip-hop}. Well currently I'm working on Allegro by J-H Fiocco {if you platyed with the suzuki method you know what song it is}, Though I have played much more complicated pieces before. I prefer to play not by sight but by hearing and reading notes just to know where to put me fingers, since I cant count While playing, but oddly enough I happen to be in AP Math Classes most of my short life.

Well I am in my schools orchestra. and this year I have won the the Top Orchestra student of my school, got my name on a plaque {sp?}. I have also gotten a chance to play at someones party, and got a sweet $150 for 3 hours of playing.

Well I live in Michigan, but I'm originaly from Poland! I'm my spare time {which is like always} I play Violin, try to self teach myself piano, swim, Play computer or video games, draw, and do computer graphics design, and NOT read books! I have a pet turtle, he is currently nameless for the time being. I do however feed my dad's huge pond of about 600 fish, so I guess I'm sort of the owner of them as well.

I prefer not to list my favorite foods since it would probably take me a while to type it all up! I LOVE food!

An interesting fact: I celebrated my last birthday {June 14} over 10,000 feet above the earth, and smack dab in the middle of the atlantic ocean! Can you guess how!?

Hello. Nice to meet you all. I got invited to this guild, and i don't know why. But that's okay, I will try to be a good member. I've been playing violin since I was seven. as of August 8 2005, I am 15. Because i skipped 5th grade, I don't know any math, so you'll have to figure out how long that is for yourself. I'm leaarning Asturias (leyendas) by Albeniz, and the Bach A minor violin concerto.
The pride and joy of my heart is my six year old mustang paint, Sunshine. I got her for my 15th birthday. I hope I'm not bragging because I have a horse. I live in Honolulu and I'm in 10th grade and everything else is not worth mentioning, because I have to go to riding class.
