L'mi and Mishith popped out of between over Fort Hold. Below them, both brownrider and dragon could see all the people and brightly colored gather tents spread across the open land surrounding the Hold.

Looks like a good turnout L'mi remarked to Mishith, noting the large crowds as they made their way lower.

It always is unless its raining was Mishith's simple reply. L'mi thought he detected a bit of laughter in the brown's mind voice and chuckled softly as he looked for an empty space to land in.

Spotting one where a blue had just taken off, Mishith made his way in that direction, taking advantage of the light wind to let him coast the majority of the way. Once above the open area, the brown circled lazily until he was low enough to land, moving into a more upright position and flapping his wings to slow their decent. Eventually his claws touched the ground, his wings creating a cloud of dust that blew away with the wind.

L'mi jumped down and straightened his gather clothes, brushing the dust off of them before retriving the sack he had secured to Mishith's harness before they left. He opened it, checking that the contents (two skins of wine from his private stash and a few marks) were undamaged. Finding them intact, he slung the sack over his shoulder and grinned at Mishith.

The brown looked back at him with swirling blue eyes, his rider's excited additude and the gather atmosphere having rubbed off on him. He caught sight of a low flying green and watched her until she landed on the nearby cliffs, before turning back to L'mi.

I go to sun was all he said before taking off, creating another dustcloud. L'mi watched him until he settled down near the green. Chuckling and shaking his head with amusement at Mishith, L'mi reajusted the pack strap on his shoulder and made his way towards the nearest gather tents.

Tikal wandered through the Gather sipping on cooled juice wishing it were cooled Benden. Ah, can't have everything.

She glanced about and saw people a few people she vaguely recognized from the Weyr as well as many wearing Harper clothing. She smiled inwardly. Harpers were decent and honest people. (OOC: Not to mention sexay. xd ) She couldn't wait to hear them play. Tikal hummed to herself as she sorted through the miner's stall. She was enthralled with rubies and clear blue sapphires the size of a dragon's eye, too beautiful to be cut into smaller stones, too expensive for her to afford. Even if she haggled with the miner, she would lose most if not all of her marks and Tikal needed those marks to buy more raw material. With a sigh she grabbed a pouch of gold beads. It sucks to have expensive tastes when you're on a budget, she thought as she bantered for the man to lower the price.

Lilliana wandered away from the dancing square and over towards the stalls of instruments and music, some manned by Hapers, some not.
As she stopped before a stall that sold pipes and drums, something on the table caugh her eye. It was a small set of pipes, made out of reeds. Her fingers reached out, and caressed the small pipes of their own volition. Turning to the stall keeper, she asked " How much for the small pipes. I know the larger ones are twenty-five marks. I'll give you 8 for these."
She only knew a few tunes on the pipes, but since she hadn't bought anything new in a long time, she felt justified that she could spend a few marks.

Aoki shared Tolara's smile, holding back a chuckle. She was glad that Kael was still too young to do much of anything yet. The smile faded as she listened to Tolara's warning.

"I don't understand what's happening." Aoki sighed, "I'll keep my eyes open tonight and do what I can to keep the peace. Nothing harder than fruit juice for me anyway. After the last time I... erm... enjoyed my wine I'm going to take a break from it for a while."

Sitting in an out-of-the-way nook, Ray listens to the harpers. In her haste to get dressed, she'd forgotten to put on her shoulder knots... not that she usually remembered them, but once people at Fort got to know her, she didn't have problems with people recognizing her authority.

Isskio had drawn some attention, but nothing more than any other mature queen flit would have received. Ray is amused to realize that being anonymous suits her. The few times she'd dealt with holderfolk, things had always been a bit strained. She'd always been weyrfolk, and they seemed to resent her for it. Here, without people being able to tell who or what she was, they were a lot friendlier.

For the most part, the Harpers have been playing dance music. Ray hoped they'd start singing soon, the new Masterharper should have a new ballad, Masterharpers always celebrated their new rank by writing something big and elaborate.

She pulls the tie out of her hair, and fluffs it around a bit, then taking a breath, moves into the crowd, closer to the harpers. Everyone always saw her with her hair back, perhaps she could be even more anonymous with an unfamiliar hairstyle.

Taking Selene's advice, Dilian puts the paper in his pocket and walks towards the entrance. I hope I bump into her... Dilian spies Alerai and the instruments she's holding. He walks to her and asks with a warm smile, "Can I carry those for you?" I hope she doesn't think I am odd.
Alerai paused and looked up as a familiar voice asked, "Can I carry those for you?" She blinked before automatically handing him her pack. "Just please be careful. Those are for the Masterharper," she cautioned, feeling a little protective of the instruments. She was hoping she could get some marks to spend from the Masterharper when she gave the instruments up to be sold. She actually looked at who she gave the pack to now, and searched her memory. An image floated into her view, ah, 'twas the one she gave a mug of klah to when he first arrived, Dilian. She flashed a grin at him before responding, "Why, hello! How are you doing?" Tolan flew down to circle above the two, chirping as he watched.

The gather was in full swing when Ipsen stepped out into the fray. He already heard the young harpers at it. The large presentation would come later when the Lord Holder and his Lady attended the feast. Ipsen hoped his intuition was correct; the great ballad that he helped the compostition master was a great piece exualting dragonkind. This may not be recieved. It delt with the drouth and the disgrunted people of Pern and their growing contempt for the dragon riders. It was a peice that encouraged them to put aside their anger and resentment and pull together for the sake of Pern; it had certainly gone through worse.
He was simply wondering around looking at the stalls. He had set up some trusted journeymen at the Harperhall booth, he hoped that the apprentices knew to go there; surely their Masters would have informed them.
To his surprise he spotted the Weyrwoman in gather finery. He had yet to have a talk with her since he gained his title while she was still recovering and he'd be too busy since.
He walked up behind her and smiled cheerfully. "Ah Weyrwoman! Tolara if I may." He bowed. "Would you be so kind as to share a glass of wine with me, I've been looking forward to conversing with you."

T'thia and Niko had drawn an even larger crowd then just the few children. T'thia had broken her shy exterior and was taking requests from the older crowd members, most more extravagent and complex then the rest. the children had taken to simply listening to the beutiful ballads and songs that Niko and T'thia produced. the man watched T'thia with the same reverance and awe as he always had.

T'thia had gone to the harper hall many turns back and excelled extraordinarily fast. she had had a few classes with the pair Nikiana and Nalan, those the pair were more likley in trouble and serving punishment for their latest trick, or in the instrument room building some new complex piece of musical art. Niko had always been her composer and instrumental accompanyment all the way up until she had been searched by T'orn and Zaneth.

T'thia had a bright jubilant smile on her face as she sang her heart out with a variety of different tunes glad to see how many were appreciating her vocal work and Niko's exceptional playing.

It seemed that she was fashionably late again. Approaching the Gather, Reina managed to dodge around a group of chatting people, and headed for the stalls. She loved shopping! Scanning the items offered in the various sections of the Gather, she finally spotted one stall with a suspicious looking person attending it. She wasn't too sure about stopping there... As she was passing it by, she glimsed something in the stall. Wha... Turning, she peered closer at the item. She'd been right, it was an eggpot! Not the only one either, she noticed.

Stopping, she considered the possibility of approaching this stall after all. She'd always wanted a flit, and if this character really had some eggs... Reaching a decision, she strode forward. Reading the sign, she grinned. "How much to play?" she asked.

After wandering the stalls a bit, R'ign came across the game tucked back in the corner. Just as she arrived, another girl came up and asked how much it was to play. The bluerider decided to hang back a bit. If it didn't sound too expensive, she might try it. Shells, this would probably be a favored spot of Gail's if the greenrider were here.

Xaith is not here... Kerth sounded disappointed. Oh Faranth, surely he wasn't still heartbroken?!

Dilian takes the pack and motions towards the stall where Selene had been sitting. "Selene was selling some instruments over there. We could set them there for now." He takes a breath before going on. "She said the music was about to start, and if you don't really have anyone else to dance with, and if you don't mind..." Dilian takes another deep breath and looks Alerai in the eyes, "What I am trying to say is, do you want to dance?"

Tolara shook her head. "I'm not sure either, but the many holders are against dragonriders." A voice broke into the conversation and Tolara broke off what she was talking about.

Turning quickly the Weyrwoman smiled, eyes checking the knots automatically. She slipped a polite smile on her face. "Master Harper...Ipsen isn't it? It's a pity we haven't had a chance to talk yet." Her dark brown eyes glanced towards the entrance to the gather for a moment.

"Aoki, if you'll excuse us.. Have a good time at the Gather and remember what I told you." The smile was a shade warmer as she directed it to the blue rider. The new MasterHarper made her uneasy, mostly because she didn't know his perceptions of the dragonriders. Glith, will you ask Kerth to inform R'ign and Wrath to tell Rayinte that I'll be speaking with the new MasterHarper if they need me.

The gold's tone was slighly puzzled as she agreed. Of course...but...Why?

Just a precaution.

Ah.

Thank you love. Tolara turned to Ipsen with a smile, "Lead on."

~~~~~~~~~~~
With a sardonic smile the man leaned forward, "Two marks." He said easily. He half expected the girl, another candidate by the knots, to walk away without even trying to haggle the price down like that other girl had.
His eyes narrowed again as he thought about it. Sharding dragonriders thinking their all high and mighty. Idly a hand toyed with the small dagger he kept on him as his eyes sought out the other girls. They hadn't even wandered off to far. Even if they weren't riders yet they were just as bad.
R'ign caught something she didn't like in the game man's face. She shifted uneasily. There was something about this man that irked her... She figured she might want to keep a close eye on the candidate to whom he was speaking. Hmm... she might even have a try at the game to see if she could win anything. She might as well try it. Unless it seemed he was one of those shady gamers who always cheated...
Mine? Glith says that Hers will be speaking with the new Harper. Kerth sounded a bit puzzled.
And, of course, the reliance of blue dragons referring on information, made R'ign a bit puzzled. Why would Tolara have Glith tell Kerth to tell her that she was speaking to a harper?
Kerth caught onto his rider's thoughts. Not a Harper, Mine. THE Harper.
Oh! The new MasterHarper! Now I get it...
Things clicked for the bluerider and she grinned a bit. Ah, Tolara was worried that the new MasterHarper was not going to be favorable of dragonriders. Faranth knew they needed a dragonloving man as MasterHarper to try and change the Holders' opinions of the protectors of Pern.
"I won't forget. Perhaps I'll see you tonight some time." Aoki bowed to the pair, "Tolara... Masterharper... "
She wandered away again. It wasn't that the gather was boring, just that Aoki wasn't sure what to do with herself. There had been no sign of K'elt in a while and Aoki doubted she'd see the bronze rider. G'dor was always scarce... even if he was here Aoki was sure she'd never seen him. Gail was probably still asleep.
Aoki paused at a stand to buy some fruit juice before continuing on. R'ign was probably doing the same as Tolara... talking to people and getting a feel for what was going on.
Suddenly Aoki had the feeling that someone was staring at the back of her neck. She turned quickly, searching for a pair of eyes watching her, but saw nothing. She chuckled at her own silly paranoia. Tolara's warning was messing with her mind. Still... she glanced at her belt knife uneasily. It was always good to have something to protect yourself. It was something her brother had once told her and a lesson she took very seriously.
L'mi passed a few of the tents and stalls, glancing at the wares the vendors had available. He stopped once of twice to inspect something more closely but moved on after a little, not finding anything he really felt like spending his few marks on. A few of the gaming stalls looked tempting, but he decided to wait and see if there was something he wanted more, before he risked his money in a game of chance.
Reaching the end of a row of stalls, the sound of music playing nearby caught his attention. The brownrider began to wander in the direction of the music and presently came upon a crowd surrounding a group of harpers. Smiling as he recognized the tune, L'mi seated himself on a nearby bench and began tapping his foot along with the music. He wanted to sing, but he knew that those around him wouldn't appriciate it, so he contented himself with mouthing the words.
