Celeste curled up next to the fire. She really should think about making her own lair soon. But this was cozy enough for now. "Mrrrr mrrr..." Her tail fluttered until she fell asleep.

Celeste opened her eyes and found herself looking into glowing embers. The fire was nearly dead, that meant it would soon be dawn. Her tail curled around her leg. There was no one around but herself in this cavern.

There was something in the corner of the main lair that hadn't been there the previous night. A little pen had been set up, its perimeter made up largely of stout sticks and twine. A comfortable layer of hay had been dumped in a corner of it, and with the first light of morning came soft clucking noises.
Eight laying hens had been installed in the dragon lair, Sunday's idea of a cushier winter. There were already several eggs in the hay, and a bundle of unthreshed grain in the corner.

Celeste awoke to a strange...clucking...sound. Rubbing her eyes, she sat up and looked around for the source of the clucking. Suddenly something gave loud "BAWK!" noise, nearly sending her jumping to the ceiling. What was that!? Finally, she realized it was coming from something strange and shadowy in the corner. That hadn't been there before...
Slowy and carefully on all fours, she approached. It was a pen full of big, fat birds. Noisy birds...not quite as noisy as those kweet things she had seen, but nowhere near as nice to listen to. She tested the pen with a claw. How strange to have prey living inside the lair like this.
She sat on her haunches, her tail moving slowly back and forth. For a long time, she just ...stared...at them, while the fowl remained calm. But there was a glint of terror in their beady birdy eyes.
