"We are family..." Skye's Thoughts - March 30th After a couple of days spent at the hospital to make sure that everything was running smoothly we finally brought Keith home. He didn't seem to mind the car ride much... Even if cars still bother me... Especially cars driven by strange people who will, by default, find out where I live by dropping us off there.
Of course, I really can't say that traveling by hippogryph would've been safe for a newborn and a lass who's just given birth... So car really was the safest mode of transportation.
The children were all waiting for us when we returned... Lana helped Flarie inside with all of her things while 'Vyn and Laire stood back staring. I really think that those two need to get out and socialize a bit more. Maybe they'd be a bit more accepting to new people then.
Ash, of course, was absolutely amazed and the first thing she wanted to do once we all got settled was hold the baby. She was gentle and I truly do not believe that I've ever seen her happier. Family means so much to her... It meant that much before even I started to see what the value of family is.
I have a family of my own.
Keith is sleeping now... Resting just down the hall from where I sit here writing. Flarie is napping in my room and I offered to take the first night in the nursery in order to alott her one more night of peace... Even if I'm not really sure that Keith will wake the whole house. The hospital nursery staff did say that he was rather silent. Imagine that... A child of mine... Silent.
I do believe that I'm going to go watch him sleep for now. Everyone says that I should enjoy this stage while it lasts...

Spring was here. The flowers were blooming and all of the various creatures were out playing in the gardens behind the house... Including the 'Mistress of the Manor' and her young son, Keith.
She had chosen a spot beneath one of the larger trees to spread a blanket to sit on. When she was certain that each of the wrinkles had been smoothed out she reached into her pouch to withdraw a few of the wee one's favorite toys. The outdoors would have to be associated with something fun... Then Keith may like it more... Not at all like the other kids in the house who seemed to lock themselves up in their rooms FOREVER. Brats.
Silvery blue orbs scanned the area she had set up so prettily. Perfect. It was just perfect for the baby's first 'outside adventure'. Now all she had to do was get the baby...
A simple song parted her lips, bringing a little twirl to her step... A twirl that probably wasn't too wise when it came to ascending the stairs. Clumsy git. She made a mental note not to do that while holding the baby...
She smiled brightly as she slipped into Keith's room. All of the sparkling stars made her feel almost as if it were night again... Almost. The sun streaming in through the window made a wonderful difference.
Carefully, she lifted the infant into her arms, holding him close to her slender form. "You are my sunshine... My only sunshine..." She cooed softly as she rocked him against her, smiling brightly when she saw his beautiful blue eyes open to greet her. "Good morning, beautiful."
Diaper was then changed and the babe was redressed... Off to spend time with his 'other mommy' in the great outdoors.

"I can see clearly now the rain is gone..." Skye's Thoughts - April 17th Keith is nearly a month old and a more beautiful baby I have never seen. Of course, as his mother, I am bound to be a bit biased. Even so... He is still so brilliant... With his blue eyes that just sparkle when they're open and the way he clings to his dragon plush as if it were his dearest friend.
I took him out to the gardens today for a bit of fresh air. The April showers have visited more than once so I felt the need to let him explore while the sun was still shining. He seemed to like the outdoors a great deal... If something like that could be told by his slight smiles and the way his eyes go wide when one of the sprites flutters by.
Thank god he has horns like mine. If he wasn't I'd have a hard time believe that he was my baby simply based upon how quiet he is. It worries me sometimes...
I just wish that he'd laugh... Just once or twice. He's so quiet... Which is wonderful for nights and such... But I've expected to be woken up in the middle of the night by a crying child. I haven't been. I've been greeted by a bright smile or a teary-eyed frown the moment I walk into his room...
I think I'm going to take him to the clinic soon. Maybe someone there will have answers for me.

Meeting the Mad Scientist//Enjoy it While it Lasts Pearl-like teeth bit down on her lower lip, giving a little tug to that rosey tier as she nudged the clinic door open with her hip. Her skirt swished against her ankles and the tried her hardest not to trip over it. She wasn't that clumsy anyways... At least... Not all of the time. Especially not when she was holding the baby.
Ah yes... The baby. Keith was snuggled nicely against her chest sucking on the wing of what Skye was convinced had to be his favorite dragon toy. He had so many... Exactly what made that one special was up and over her head.
Taking a deep breath she adjusted the wee lad, leaning forward to press her lips to his head. "That's it, precious... Our first outing... Well... First major outing. The garden didn't count..." His eyes brightened as he looked up to her, lips curved into a cute baby smile.
--
She looks over to the woman who just entered and her eyes brighten at the sight of the infant.
--
Sacros looked at the infant and his mother. A grin crossed his face, yet he remained in his chair. He looked at the infant, and slowly gave himself an illusionary magic, solely directed at the child, to transform himself into a large cuddly teddy bear. He loved to amuse human children, such a shame they grew into such... monstrosities.
--
Not good. Not good at all.
Koyuki paced a bit on the streets, attracting the attentions of several people. She didn't need their attention upon her, and she saw the clinic. And for the third time in several days, she headed into the place for reasons relating to her job.
Well, technically, this time, she actually didn't get herself locked out. However, what her assistants predicted had happened.
She's spilled some chemicals on herself, and she doesn't know how it'd affect herself. Or her child, for that matter. If they were lucky, nothing would happen.
Either way, she need something to take her mind off things, and decided to go visit the place that she was slowly growing fond of.
--
She looked towards the two that were currently in the clinic, wondering if she shouldn't have chosen a different time to come. People were strange... Some moreson than others... Especially those that grinned at children like that man was doing. Her nervousness turned into a draconic pride that puffed out her petite chest and wrapped her arms even more firmly around the wee lad.
Keith wrinkled his nose slightly as his crystal blue eyes trailed away from his SoggyChewyThing to the BigFuzzyLookingThing. Deciding that the dragon plush was more suited to his tastes he simply ignored it.
--
Upon entering, she blinked. Hey, there's Skye!
And several other people that she hadn't met yet. How many people frequented the clinic? She sees new people everytime, and it's almost not a surprise anymore to walk into a room full of strangers.
"... U..uhm. Hi."
--
'Hello's' from strangers and then, finally, a friendly face. "Koyuki! What a nice suprise. How are you today, my dear?" A smile tugged at the corners of her lips, her own eyes sparkling. For a moment it was as if all of the strangeness was forgotten. Of course, that didn't stop her from giving a little wave to other two women after shifting Keith in her arms.
His mother's happy mood seemed to improve his own disposition. Her voice had soothing qualities where the babe was concerned. Tiny fingers curled around his plush, holding it snug to his little body.
--
She waved back to everyone else, and smiled brightly at Skye. "What a coincidence! I'm fine! And you?" She didn't want to mention the spill... and what it could do. She was just paraonid, right? Either way, she was happy about bumping into a friend.
"Annnnnd who is this little darling?" She quirked her eyebrow at the child that Skye was carrying.
--
"I'm doing quite well... Figured I'd bring Keith to the clinic for a bit." She adjusted the boy against her once more, reaching a hand up to tenderly caress his cheek. He was so soft... She still couldn't help but be amazed by him.
"This is Keith Devlin, my son." She said that with so much pride, smiling in a way that almost looked painful. He really was her pride and joy... As much as she loved her other children he was the only biological one that she would ever have. She was nearly certain of that fact. "Keith, darling, this is Koyuki. She is a business associate of your mothers' and also a friend."
He blinked, looking over to the other woman long enough to wave a the dragon's wing at her before nestling against his mother once more. Too comfortable to move much else it seemed.
--
Hello there, Keith!" She waved at the boy, and smiled up to Skye in understanding. She, herself, doesn't have a child of her own... yet. That would change when the child within her is born. A parent who is proud of her child... she sighed wistfully, and sent a mental message to her growing child about growing up faster as well. Not that it actually works, but it never hurts to try.
"Business associate? So formal, Skye!" She smirked, "Just a friend. A friend who comes up with things to help you along.. with... business. You have a very adorable boy; I just hope mine is as well... but with our family genes, you never know." She winced. A dragon and a wolf... what were they thinking?!
--
The babe smiled in what could've been taken as a happy manner. Despite how 'loud' his mother was he seemed rather silent. That was one of the reasons why Skye had brought him here... She worried... A bit too much, more often than not.
"But business associate sounds so intimidating..." She chuckled and, as she did so, the tension in the air could be felt easing almost instantly. The dragon was calming down a great deal now that there was a familiar face. "Thank you, from both Keith and myself... I'm sure that your baby will be absolutely beautiful, just like his mother." She nodded. Of course, it wasn't as if her genes were any better... Heaven only knew what she really was if half of the stories about her family were true.
--
Koyuki gestured to several seats. "Let's go sit down, shall we? Oh-great-business-associate?" She made her way casually towards those seats so she could sit down and rest. Despite the fact that she was only a few months into her pregnancy, she found that standing for long period of time resulted in sore feet. Not to mention, Skye was carrying a child as well, and he must be heavier.
"Pretty, eh?" She chuckled. "I doubt. But thank you anyway. Oddly enough, I feel like I'm carrying more than child in me. Ugh. Heavy." She literally flopped down, but carefully; sudden motions were bad. "Mmm. That's much better."
--
She chuckled softly as she sat down beside Koyuki, shifting Keith so that he was sitting in her lap instead. The dragon plushie fell out of the boys hold and, despite all of his attempts to grasp for it, he couldn't. That resulted in a rather lovely pout from the child's precious lips.
"Yes, pretty. No matter what the genes, babies seem to be beautiful no matter what..." Her eyes drifted down to the other woman's stomach. "I find myself wondering what it would be like to carry a child... I'm not sure if I will ever know... Consider yourself a lucky woman, oh associate of mine."
--
"Mmmm. Here you go, dear." She leaned down to pick up the fallen plushie and handed it back to Keith. "Don't drop it again!" She clucked at him jokingly.
Koyuki propped her head on her arm, which rested on her knees, and nodded, "Yes, babies are wonderful. It feels different, just knowing that you are holding life in yourself." She paused, then added, "Except when they induce you into the wonders of vomiting and morning sickness." She pretended to stare off into the distance with a dazed and loving expression, "Ahh... morning si-- oof. I could stop." She chuckled, unable to resist mocking something, even a little.
--
She looked down to her wee one as he pulled the plushie back against him, sticking the tip of its tail back into his mouth and suckling away. She'd have to take him home soon and see to it that he'd be fed before getting him ready for bed. Somehow they'd managed to work him into a sleeping pattern. It was wonderful.
A glimpse of thoughtfulness passed over the features of the dragon's face as she listened to Koyuki's words. If only the other woman knew how much she'd trade just to feel those things that she was describing... But years and years had gone by and nothing. "Just savor the moments while you can, dear. Soon enough your babe will be out and about in the world trying to dress his or her self before going out on a first date."
--
Koyuki chuckled, "My mother would've never let me chew on toys. She'd smack my hand, or something. It was a bad habit."
"Ahh. Yes. Children do grow up fast, don't they? Looking back... I turned 17 and went from playing in the sand to playing with chemicals. I must say.. I'm a tad young to be a mother, at least in the human physical state. I guess I should treasure these times, eh?" She settled back and gazed up, the thoughtful expression spread to her face, as if she caught it from Skye. "You know... even if I never expected it... I do want to have and raise this child well. I think it'd be good for me."
--
"Oh, it is a bad habit... But when he's got tiny teeth coming in I'm not going to argue with him." She chuckled softly, giving the dragon toy a gentle tug. He was growing so fast in his own little ways... A beautiful, precious gem of a child.
The other woman's words sifted through the dragon's mind as she stood slowly, pulling the babe close to her chest once more. "It's amazing how much your life will change when the baby's born... My days seem brighter just knowing that this little blessing is sleeping across the hall from my room." So wishy-washy. Many of Skye's old companions would never know that it was her. "We should talk again soon... I've gotta get this tyke home... But you know where to find me."
That said, she made her way out of the clinic, giving a little wave to the others that had been there as well... Even if they had just faded into the backround.
--
"Mmm... alright, talk to you sometime soon, Skye. And goodbye, Keith." She waved good-bye to them, and sat back to think some more about what was said.
Until she dozed off, to be awoken later. She has things to do. The life of a young genius never ends.

An Outing with Mother//Pale One with Shinies
Though unspoken rules would dictate caution when entering a room with people already occupying it (people got in so much trouble that way, at least in smutty doujinshi), Cerena decided that unspoken rules were for lamers and was she lame? Hoho, no way.
It was that and she didn't really want to carry Lethe any longer than she had to -- the young Fa'e was getting a little bigger everyday and weighed about the same as a small elephant that ate bricks. Lethe was sitting demurely in her arms, thoughtful expression on her face as always, waiting to see who would be there today.
Cerena managed to push the door open with a leg, slowly squeezing herself into the Fa'e Headquarters, miraculously without smushing Lethe. She'd called earlier in the day to ask that Skye meet her there, so hopefully Lethe would have someone to play with. At least, she was thinking about it until three seconds prior when she caught sight of a familiar Fa'e and his two unfamiliar companions. She froze, much to Lethe's chagrin.
"Hi," The young girl decided to say for her, kicking her legs against her guardian's stomach and looking pointedly at the floor.
... ... ...
If Rambaldi had not been facing the door he probably would have missed Cerena's entrance completely. He was completely embroiled in his argument with Reidinger, gesticulating wildly and threatening the feien with accidental homicide at every turn. He paused in mid-sentence at gaped at Cerena a moment, opening his mouth to speak.
Zevulon beat him to it, ambling over from the food area and stopping several feet away from Cerena and Lethe. "Hi," he said. Rambaldi eyed Zevulon a moment and promptly launched back into his conversation with Reidinger.
... ... ...
The house had gotten a bit noisey... What with work at the Adoption Agencey combined with everything else that Skye had decided to take upon herself it was a wonder that everything wasn't dead silent. So, when Cerena had called to arrange a 'playdate' it was just the thing that the dragoness needed to get her bottom in gear so that she could flee from the cottage that she called home.
Buuuuut... Not without Keith. Yes. That had been one of the conditions placed upon her escape.
Well, that was just fine. She liked taking Keith places... And it was about time that he met Lethe anyways. They were cousins, were they not? Of course they were...
So, that said, Skye made her way towards the HQ with baby nearly attatched to her hip. Keith was dressed in a cute little denim overalls set complete with a bright blue t-shirt that completed the 'isn't he adorable' look. Of course, he had his favorite stuffed dragon with him. Keith? Leave home without it? Never.
They'd have to work on that when he was older.
The dragoness backed into the door in order to nudge it open so that she could make her not-so-grand entrance. Her hair was tousled slightly... Mainly from having said stuffed dragon swatted at her from time to time as she walked. Luckily enough, her tightly laced bodice managed to keep her shirt from being too rumpled. Talk about a good day...
... ... ...
Rambaldi looked up long enough to note that there were now two babies in the room and could not hide his frown.
"You see?" said Reidinger, darting about in the air. "This is why you'll never get a girlfriend."
Indignation was quick to rise in Rambaldi's throat. "I'll have you know many women find me attractive."
"Before or after you pay them?"
Rambaldi made an unsuccessful grab for Reidinger, nearly unseating himself in the process.
... ... ...
"Are you okay?" Cerena said finally, looking suspiciously between Zevulon and those two... nutty people. What was with that one, who was naked except not? It made her head explode. She finally realized that she had to put Lethe down before her arms fell off and thus made her less able to make a rescue attempt if needed, so she did. "Who are they? Where's Kancho? Did they kidnap you?!" This was illustrated by much exaggerated gesturing -- she had either had too much caffeine or was trying to get the blood flowing in her arms again.
Lethe offered Zevulon a smile before turning towards the door, gaze briefly lingering on Reidinger. Those two other Ones, however, were too busy making angry-like noises at each other to be of much interest, thus she finally placed her attention on her Aunt Skye.
... ... ...
Zevulon could have pointed out no kidnapper would then take the fa'e to the fa'e headquarters. He could have offered to take Lethe, as the baby surely would have been nothing for him to carry. He could have done a lot of things. Instead, he stood there, looked at the soda can in his hand, looked at the man on the couch and the fairy flying around his head, and said, "Chaperone." There. That was a word to make Careli proud.
... ... ...
Ah yes... The first voices to draw her attention brought a little chuckle forth from her lips. The argument between the two reminded her much of things she had heard come from her older son's mouth back when he had actually gone out of the house from time to time.
But now? Children who left the house? Who could ever imagine that...
Keith was going to be different than that... Even if he prefered to play with his stuffed toys at the moment. That was simply because he didn't know many young ones his age. But, that's why they were here. To meet with Lethe... Who just so happened to be on the floor by Cerena.
She gave a little wave to the wee Fa'e a little wave before flashing a smile to Cerena... As well as to the boy and his two... Companions. "Hello... And hello to you too, Lethe, darling."
... ... ...
"Oh," Cerena replied, relaxing slightly. She stared at the bickering two for a while, as if she thought they were going to magically transform into something more... appropriate. "Er... They're not very good, are they?" She said finally, briefly distracted by Skye's appearance.
"'Lo," Lethe greeted amicably, feeling confident in her use of noises. Nothing to it, really. Skye had always been one of the ones who better understood her anyhow, so her prescence was a welcome one. She came with someone else though -- a Tiny Person who looked very vaguely like her. She scrunched up her nose trying to process this. Where had he come from?
... ... ...
Zevulon eyed Skye and Keith with vague interest. Then he took a sip from his soda can. It was warm soda, digusting by the considerations of most mortals, but Zevulon was indifferent.
He offered no vocal greeting to Skye or Keith; apparently one "hi" was enough for today.
There was a sudden shout, Rambaldi's. "This is your fault!" he exclaimed, shaking his finger at Reidinger. He was standing up now, Reidinger floating in the air far above his reach.
"How is this my fault?" the feien asked. "You're the one who insisted on staying behind an extra two days to work on the interstitial regulator!"
Rambaldi looked lost a moment, since that was exactly his fault, but quickly rebounded with, "It's not my fault my genius is in such high demand. I'm needed everywhere."
Reidinger just stuck his tongue out and turned to look at Skye, Keith, Cerena and Lethe. These were not people like any he had seen before in the science division. That interested him. Subconsciously he began to drift in their direction.
... ... ...
Noting Cerena's distraction (Cere distracted? NEVAR!) and the young boy's indifference, she turned her full attention towards Lethe. Afterall, playdates were to be between the wee ones anyways... Not the adults.
Carefully, she plopped down onto one of the bean bag chairs, settling Keith in her lap in something that looked likea more comfortable position. The boy tilted his head towards the pale girl, blinking big blue eyes as a smile tugged at the corners of his tiny lips.
"How are you, sweetling?" She talked to all of the children that way... Just as if they understood her perfectly. WinK had laughed at her for it, calling it 'simply darling'. She had thought it was simply the right thing to do...
... ... ...
Rambaldi took a step after his feien. "I'm not done talking to you," he informed Reidinger.
Smirking, Reidinger crossed his arms and replied, "But I'm done talking to you. I'm going to complete our mission. Remember, our reason for coming here? Stay out of my way."
"Pfft," went Rambaldi, and flopped back down on the couch. "It's not as if your 'research' has any bearing on anything of importance." But he kept his voice low enough that Reidinger was happy to let the insult slide.
The fairy came to a halt in the air near the beanbag chari containing Skye and Keith. He seemed to be rather obviously focused on Skye's bodice. "Are you a Gaian?" he demanded simply, a question would soon become known as one of the most pathetic pickup lines ever to be uttered by a member of the science department. It ranked alongside "Are you giving off ions? Because I find myself drawn to you. What do you say we go try out some nuclear fusion?" That one ended in a punch to the face. Hopefully Reidinger's crude attempt at conversation would go better.
... ... ...
Lethe made an indifferent noise, folding her hands neatly in her lap and staring at the Tiny Person in Skye's lap. Tiny People seemed to like her ribbons, she remembered, and so she congenially scooted forward and offered him her arms.
Motion at her side caused her to turn her attention to Zevulon, and her previous smile returned. In this position she couldn't really do anything of interest -- nor did any of her knowledge of noises seem to help. She had already said 'hello' so saying that again would be repetitive. "Aiskunomai," She said gravely.
Cerena blinked wildly at Reidinger. What she thought to be a rather meek "How do you do?" had somehow turned into "Why are you not wearing any pants?" Her eyes widened at her own words, and in panic, she immediately darted to hide behind the newly-arrived Chai.
... ... ...
Reidinger looked up at the words, a perpetual glare on his face. "Because I'm a fairy. Clothes are for uptight, overbearing, Puritanical--"
"ALRIGHT!" said Rambaldi, leaping to his feet. "Enough is enough. Clothes are not merely decorations designed to propogate an overall concept of religious sin and teach humans that they are inherently flawed. Clothes are in fact one of Mankind's better inventions! Clothes keep people warm, they protect them from the elements, and someday, when you're freezing your a** off in SIBERIA, you're going to wish you'd thought to bring a parka!"
Zevulon pointedly ignored that outburst and considered Lethe's request. He was completely unsure as to what she wanted, but he was willing to venture a guess.
Slowly, like a moth emerging from a coccoon, he stuck out his tongue. And out and out, until it was at its full length extended, wet and glistening and throbbing slightly at the strain.
... ... ...
Skye blinked, finding her attentions quickly drawn away from the two infants to the fairy that was now... Staring at her... Clothing. She was going to keep it at that. It had to be the clothing... Why else would she be asked if the was a Gaian? They all dressed rather oddly here... Each more different than the next.
"Yes... I guess you could consider me a Gaian." She chuckled, reaching up to tuck a fiery tress back behind a delicate crystal horn. Silly hair... Mind of its own... She was certain of it. "Is it that obvious?"
Keith wasn't interested in his mother's conversation... But the Pale Girl caught his eye. She was pretty... In a way like his dragons were pretty. She had ribbons. Did things in his room have ribbons? MOBILE!
His eyes brightened for a moment and, rather than reach for her bondings he held out his dragon plushie... The first time he had ever done that. "Barrgeerbee."
... ... ...
Lethe paused, hesitating only for a second -- before sticking her tongue out in response. She seemed slightly cross at the fact that his was bigger than hers, but thankfully her attention was thus stolen by her unknowing cousin. She tilted her head to the side, considering his gesture -- did he want her to take it? Wasn't it rude to take people's things? She cautiously reached out to trail her fingers over the side of the slightly-worn plushie.
... ... ...
Reidinger chose that moment to announce to Skye, "I am investigating Gaia and its personages!" He sounded incredibly proud of this mission, striking a heroic pose in the air. Its effect was slightly undercut by his height, as he was somewhere in the area of three inches tall, five with his wings included.
... ... ...
The little 'dragon-baby' gurgled at Lethe as he made the wings of the oversized plush move about. "Buurgeide..." He smiled brightly, blue eyes sparkling as he did so. They remained focused on the Pale One with Shinies for Eyes... Not paying much mind to anyone else around. Shinies were nice and distracting... Moreso than the dragon plushie.
Skye, on the other hand, did her best to hold back a chuckle as she watched the fairy? strike his pose. How cute... In its own strange little way. "Such a fine mission, my little man. And how is your mission going thusfar?" So entertained was she by this whole notion that she, like her child, went into a world of her own wherein others may have been talking or acting... But she didn't really hear them... Or wouldn't until something of a world-shattering importance was said or done.
... ... ...
"I only just started today," said Reidinger. Only one day and already he was making excuses. "But I am here to evaluate whether Gaia is a place worth living. As a Gaian, what makes you worthwhile?"
His eyes were still on her bodice. It seemed he had already answered the question himself.
... ... ...
"Buhg," Lethe confusedly attempted to imitate the younger child's words. What was he saying, anyway? She'd never heard noises like the ones he was making... Still, she stroked the head of the dragon plushie politely. "Good," She told him, for a lack of anything better to say or do. Unconciously she began to pull her hands away from one another, straining at the binds.
... ... ...
Withdrawing his tongue, Zevulon drank from his soda can again. He didn't really like soda. Water was better. But since he so rarely drank carbonated beverages, he felt it important to drink one every once in a while, if only to remind himself why he disliked them. He kept one eye on Lethe the whole time, the other moving between Evan, Keith, and the various "adults" present.
... ... ...
An eyebrow raised over an almost piercing silvery blue eye. She couldn't help but be entertained by this all. It was a part of her nature... Even if she knew someone who probably wouldn't be too pleased by the fact that a fae had taken such notice to her... Endowments.
"Well, little man, you can't evaluate all Gaian's just by meeting one of them... Most of us have come from different backrounds and, some of us, from different worlds completely." She nodded, that strand of hair falling back alongside her face as she did so. Stupid hair. "What makes me worthwhile? I've been told that I have a lovely... Personality."
The baby squirmed in his mother's arms, finally drawing her attention back down to him for a moment. He ceased his movements when she sat him down on the floor in front of her, his tiny body propped up against her folded legs so that he could sit properly.
'Good'. He knew that word... Vaguely... It was never related to something that was 'bad'. He continued to grin, pulling his dragon back into his arms before reacing a delicate hand out towards Lethe's ribbons. "Gabboow?"
... ... ...
"Where I come from, we have people from many planets and stuff," said Reidinger. "But none with your... endowments." He really was shameless, the little whelp. "But the most important question is how you live. You don't have very many technological advances here, do you?"
The feien leaned forward, pretending to inspect Skye for any... cyborg parts. Or maybe a really fancy watch with the ability to give longitude, latitude, time in every time zone, and a compass. And a metric-imperial converter. And a calculator.
... ... ...
Lethe eyed the soda can Zevulon seemed to attracted to, wondering what was so great about a large shiny cylinder. She turned her head back towards Keith as he spoke, recognizing his gesture and offering him an end to the ribbon intertwined around her arms. That done, she turned again to focus on Zevulon -- while she was more than used to having to pay attention to more than one person at a time, it was nevertheless tiring. Carefully maneuvering her arms so she wouldn't accidentally jerk the piece of cloth from the Tiny Person, Lethe managed to wave at Zev, hoping he would come closer so she wouldn't have to move and turn so much to properly play this game.
... ... ...
Zevulon did indeed move closer to Lethe, swinging around so he was almost in front of her but not obstructing her view of either of the other infants. This was a good place to observe their interactions. There was no justification for this observation, but that fact did not bother Zev in the least. (Not that he would ever admit to enjoying this situation.) He looked at the plushie in Evan's hands. It reminded him of the little green dragon he'd carried around when he was that little. Zev reached out and touched the toy's surface lightly.
... ... ...
This time she gave in to the chuckle. "Is that so?" If she was at all offended she gave no note of it. She seemed more entertained than anything else. The dragon seemed to find it rather amusing as well... Even if it was more interested in the fae for its own purposes.
"I live in a house in the woods with a dear friend and our various charges and children. We have enough technology to get by... A computer for the children's use, a television with the latest gaming system... A micro... Wave? I believe." Nevermind the fact that she never used the computer herself... Or the fact that the 'gaming system' was only used to play that dancing game with the funny mat that she was abosolutely horrid at.
Her body, or rather, what could be seen of it, held no traces of technology... No cyborg parts... Just ivory skin that looked quite soft. Lower down past her bodice attatched to her hip was a pocket watch... But it seemed rather old itself.
Keith was distracted by his mother's laugh, glancing up to her for a moment before his gaze returned to the ribbons. They were Shiney too... But they looked like the could be troublesome... If a baby could determine such a thing. His brow furrowed slightly as he returned to clinging to his plush, glad that he could move his arms enough to do so.
... ... ...
"No teleporters and ray guns?" asked Reidinger suspiciously. The little feien titled backwards in the air, sort of like sitting without the chair. "No hidden nuclear warheads? Surely you must have some of those, maybe below these 'woods' of yours, with a hatch hidden in the shed?"
Where exactly was this line of questioning going?
... ... ...
"Why would one need teleporters and ray guns when they could just as easily find a magickal creature with wings?" She said rather simply as she arched her back into a little stretch before making herself comfortable once more. "I prefer swordplay or working with a crossbow rather than these... New technological weapons anyways. They work more with skill rather than money needed to purchase the mechanics."
... ... ...
"Because technology is great," said Reidinger, an interesting position for so obvious a magical creature to take. "Technology lets you blow things up and wage war on a hitherto unheard of scale, even across universes." He spread his arms wide, indicating a universe of perhaps four inches in width.
"Anyway," Reidinger continued, sinking in the air slightly. "Technology can do a lot more than magic, and it's very equal to all people. Maybe everyone can't do magic, but they can all put together a gun if shown how." And that was a sentiment anyone who knew Reidinger might have found surprising, more surprising than the fairy's devotion to technology.
... ... ...
Lethe felt some sense of -- relief? A selfish sort of pride that someone had understood her and had done what she'd wanted? -- well, whatever it was, she felt it, and it wasn't a bad sort of feeling. She glanced at Evan -- he too made strange sorts of noises, ones that she was beginning to think made no sense really. "Hello," She corrected him.
... ... ...
Her brow furrowed slightly as she pulled her son back into her lap, fingers carefully tracing over his fuzzy head as she looked back up to the fae. "Yes... It can let you blow things up and wage war and many of the other things you've mentioned... But why would one want to do something like that... Or wish for something like that to happen... When they have a child to care for?" She blinked, gaze dropping back down to the little boy nestled against her. "I would prefer knowing that there was no technology if it meant that some trigger-happy little creature couldn't simply press a button to end my son's world before he even gets to know it."
... ... ...
"Well why not," said Reidinger, sounding genuinely upset. "It might not be a world worth preserving. And anyway, it's the first rule of the universe that you have to destroy in order to create. Something new, something better." Something more according to Reidinger's own whims. He truly did seem to expect the universe to ask his permission to exist.
... ... ...
"Then perhaps you know less about creation than you think you do, little man." She said simply as she stood, taking the little boy with her. She adjusted him in her arms, thanking the gods that he'd be big enough to walk on his own one day, before turning to Cerena.
"We'll try this whole 'playing' thing again some other time." Her smile was proof that she wasn't upset. Just a bit tired... And besides, they'd been out long enough. It would be time to make dinner by now. "Be good, Lethe."
That said, she turned back to the little fae once more. "Normally I would love to stick around and prove you wrong... But I have a baby and children shouldn't be present when one argues." She nodded. "If you're ever interested in another debate after you continue collecting your information... Someone should know how to find me." She turned towards the door, dark skirts swishing against her ankles as she walked.
She tilted her head back towards the creature once more to speak before slipping out the door. "Just be careful... Some of your 'subjects' may not take as kindly to having their endowments oggled."
... ... ...
"Aww, bye Skye... Sorry it didn't work out as much as I thought it might," Cerena called after the red-haired woman with a faint frown. She could tell she wasn't upset, yes, but maybe she had the right to be. Lethe had obligingly played with Keith, but she herself had been rather ignoring and... Well... There would be some other time.
"Aaa," Lethe said in response, pretending to understand what was being told her. She waved to Skye and Keith as they left, not understanding why they were doing that either, but ah well. So she resigned herself to watching Chai and Zev.
... ... ...
If anything, Reidinger found this comeback exceedingly encouraging, sexy even. He put on a lopsided grin as he watched the dragoness depart. The view from behind was almost as good as from the front.
But now she was gone. Reidinger let out a curse, thankfully not one in English or any other Terran language, and floated into the middle of everyone assembled.
"ALL RIGHT!" he shouted, as loud as his little juvenile form would allow. "I'm ready to leave!"
Rambaldi would have loved to ignore Reidinger, but he was completely unable to drown out the sound of that little shouting voice. He groaned. "Do you mind?" he inquired of the fairy, waving his hand to indicate that he was in a conversation.
"I do mind," retorted Reidinger, "and we're going. NOW. That means you, too, kid." Reidinger directed his statement at Zevulon.
Rambaldi sighed and looked at Cerena. "Honestly, he's my boss more or less, so I can really only call him by his title of director, or admiral." The scientist looked back at Reidinger, who was growing increasingly cross. He heaved a sigh and stood from the couch, stretching.
Zevulon reluctantly stood as well. He had not found what he had come here to look for, so... He started towards the door. Reidinger immediately followed, bellowing back, "RAMBALDI!"
Distraught (it wasn't every day he got to talk to a beautiful young lady who wasn't trying to bite his head off or take his job, or both), Rambaldi shrugged and smiled at Cerena. "Maybe I'll see you again," he offered, far from optimistic about those prospects.
With a wave, Rambaldi jogged out after the fa'e and the feien. It was only when he was halfway down the street that he realized he'd forgotten to raid the fridge. Well, then, he'd simply have to go back again in the near future.
Certain parts of various conversations were edited out for time-saving-reader-friendly purposes. All parts pertaining to Skye/Keith are still there. Woo.

"Every day for us something new..." Skye's Thoughts - May 8th I have wonderful children. I believe that I take that for granted sometimes... That I forget things about them and why I adore them all so much... Especially the older ones now that the youngest ones require so much attention.
'Vyn and Lana took charge of the house this morning while Flarie and I were still asleep. They made sure that Keith was bathed and changed into a new outfit and that he didn't fuss so that we could sleep in. I found that out when I woke up hours later than the wee one usually wakes me and rushed into his room worried that something had happened.
I should've known that they were all up to something... But, then again, I've never had children on Mother's Day before.
Finding Keith missing I went upstairs to see if Flarie had him with her. Together, we went on a wild goose chase throughout our home to find our son... It was a given that he was safe somewhere... But a woman with draconic tendancies is bound to be a bit paranoid when her only biological offspring goes missing, isn't she?
We found them, all of them; Laylana, Irvyn, Toki, Laire, Ash and even little Keith, sitting around the table townstairs with a beautiful breakfast laid out. Toki stood in order to serve us and Irvyn saw that we had our drinks for breakfast... He told me later that Lana did most of the cooking while Laire and Ash kept Keith entertained...
Have I mentioned that I love my children? All of them... Even the ones that aren't my own creation. They make being a mother worth everything... Worth the late nights worrying... Worth the broken vases... Worth the heartache when one of them comes home crying... They're worth everything to me.
With that, I do believe that I'm going to go enjoy the flowers that Ash picked from the garden for me... Along with the book of poetry that 'Vyn and Toki picked out.
Happy Mother's Day.

A picture's worth a thousand words."Nooooooooo!" Came the screech of a toddler as a blur of pale flesh could be seen streaking down the hall from the bathroom. He ducked beneath his bed, tugging his favorite stuffed dragon tightly to his tiny fram. "Nonononono."
Brow furrowed rather deeply, the dragoness padded down the hall after him. "Keith Devlin Starrfyre-Naur... You come out from under that bed." She tried to keep that 'stern' look on her face as she looked down to the little boy. Even if he was hiding behind that dragon, she could still see him... With that bright red hair peeking out from beneath the crib that he was quickly outgrowing.
"Nono Nodel-mam..." He shook his head, sticking his lower lip out into what was quite the adorable pout. How on earth would she ever resist a face like that? Surely moon-mother wouldn't make him put on those clothes.
She chuckled softly as she shook her head, dropping to her knees in order to pull her son from beneath the bed. "Yes, yes, little man. You must wear clothes... So that you may get your picture taken so that Nodel-mam and Momma can show you to all of their friends."
He eased against her chest, brow furrowing in a way that made him look so much like the woman who held him. The dragon remained clutched tightly to him. "Fine. Cloff Keif."
Leaning down, she pressed her kiss to his forehead before standing, taking him back to the bathroom where she managed to pry the plushie from his arms long enough to dress him. 'Big boy underwear' came first, followed by a pristine white t-shirt to be worn beneath a white button down. Then came the overalls. This outfit had been planned perfectly... There was no way he'd be able to get out of those overalls... They fit him just right. No room for any extra movement like that needed to strip.

Whoever would have guessed that she would have been wrong?

"It isn't the love of a hero; that's why I fear it won't do..." Skye's Thoughts - May 22nd In all of the years that I have been on this earth, I don't believe that I have ever been 'in love'. I have loved many physically... But the feelings that pass between two bodies while caught up in an act are far different than the feelings that can surround one the moment a smile tugs at the corners of the lips of the one that you know you are the other half of.
I am in love.
Ever since Keith was born, WinK has been spending more and more time around the house. My little one now calls him 'Uncle WinK'... Or rather, his broken, toddler variation of the words... Which somehow sounds so wonderfully adorable.
It has come to the point that, with all of the changes that have been going on in my life (from wings to a tail that has recently sprouted), he is here for at least a few hours every day if not here entirely every other day. That being the case, our most recent 'plot' seemed almost logical... To everyone other than a few of our children... And a beautiful Elven woman who brought my beautiful son into the world.
WinK's house is now connected to ours by means of an addition that I have yet to fully explore. He told me that all will be mine to look over once the 'additions are complete'. He won't tell me exactly what the additions are... Only that they will 'be just perfect' and 'making life more simple'.
He is far too good to me... I find myself wondering if the simple love of a dragoness is enough for one of heaven's angels...

A Gift to Remember (( Disclaimer: Although this bit of RP does not involve Keith or Flarie, I felt the need to post it here because it is something that will have an effect upon the entire household.
If you're reading bits and pieces and are completely lost, that's alright. The only ones who do know everything about it are those who have been involved with every step of the RP along the way... It ties in bits and pieces of Skye's past along with 'changes' that she's been going through recently because of her heritage.
Stay tuned... Eventually, it may start making sense. )) She felt like a princess as she turned back towards him, eyes watching him as her heart pounded. she wanted to speak... But, for some reason, she felt as if one word would simply dissolve everything before her. Instead, she brought a slender hand up to caress his face, reassuring herself that even if she was dreaming he was still real. He smiled softly, his hair falling forward a little into his face as he held up one final box, much smaller than the previous two; this one coated in velvet, and tied with a thinner black ribbon. " ... You get to open this one." He leaned down and kissed her cheek as he pressed it into her hand. She blinked as she looked at him, brow furrowing slightly as her gaze shifted to the tiny box. Swallowing hard, she trailed her fingers over the velvet casing before carefully brushing over the ribbon. A slight tug was given to it in order to loosen the bow before fingers moved to slowly open it... He watched her face, holding his breath for a long, long moment as she opened the box to reveal ... a platinum ring with a diamond planted in the center, two smaller ones nestled around it to make it look somewhat like a flower with how the larger, center one was cut ... An engagement ring. Her eyes widened, one hand raising to her chest as she beheld the beautiful ring. The dragon wanted to touch it... To feel every facet of each diamond's face... But the woman was the one who was slowly realizing what this meant. Still holding both the ring and her breath, she glanced up to the angel as if searching for confirmation on something she was so shocked to see. He gulped, suddenly looking quite unsure of himself ... Didn't she want it? He loved her so much ... He couldn't live without her, and while he'd been married once before, that man was long dead and it had been little more than a silly romance ... Nothing like the life he felt for her ... His eyes worried, but behind the worry flowed so many other emotions as he sunk down on both knees, looking up at her, his voice silk-soft as he spoke. "Skye ... Will you be my wife?" Her looks softened as her gaze followed him to his knees, tears welling up in her eyes as his words filtered through her ears, embedding themselves within her mind for eternity. Forgoing all words, she dropped down, tossing her arms around his neck as she did so. Her lips instantly found his, pressing firmly to tender tiers, parting only to say a simple 'yes' before returning to claim what they wanted. He wrapped his arms around her, the candles seeming to dim a little as the room smelled of faint rain as his joy ran high. He held her close as his lips pressed firmly to hers, pulling away gently to take the box from her, loosing the ring from it's bed and sliding it gently onto her finger. His voice cracking as he spoke. "I love you, Skye." She looked at the ring for a moment before slipping her arms back around the angel, nuzzling her head firmly against his chest as words continued to escape her. Finally, she found the perfect ones as she began swaying back and forth, almost as if dancing. "... I knew I loved you before I met you... I think I dreamed you into life..." He kissed her neck gently, humming softly along with her lyrics, the music in the background slowly changing to match the song Skye's vocal chords were producing. His lips moving to brush against her ear as he spoke softly. "I was so afraid ... You'd say no." He looked at her, his eyes filling and spilling over with gentle tears. "But I knew in my heart there was only one answer ... Just one path." "Silly angel..." She shook her head as she looked up to him, smiling ever so brightly. "I love you... I can think of none other that I would rather... Spend the rest of my life with." Her own voice was slightly choked with emotion... And that lingering bit of disbelief that this all was truly happening. He looked at her beautiful face as he ran a finger over her bare shoulders and down her arms before wrapping his arms around her waist in order to pull her close, kissing her deeply for a moment or two. "There's dinner ... If you want it." He looked a bit sheepish. "I was supposed to offer dinner before the ring, but I ... Just seeing you I couldn't help it..." "You offer me dinner... When I am certain that I could live the rest of my days with your love as my only sustinance." Love... And tea. Whatever would she do without her tea? Of course, that didn't matter... And it really wasn't something that was on her mind at the moment. She pulled away gently, trailing a finger slowly down along his chest. "You look amazing... Far better than I ever did in a suit." He smiled softly. "You shall dine on love and flattery and beautiful words for all eternity if I am your husband, beautiful dragoness." He stood, fluidly, pulling her up with him, looking down at her with liquid green eyes. "Thank you ... I think all angels look wonderful in tuxes. I think you, however, far outshine even the blessed night in that dress. I had it made for you, and I see my memory was entirely acurate of your physique." "If...? Only if?" She stood upon her toes, pressing her lips tenderly to the corner of his mouth. "Why not 'when'?" She chuckled softly, teasing him with the dancing merriment seen throughout her eyes. "Perfect down to the very thread, angel of mine... Even the dragon approves." He grinned broadly and twirled her gently before pulling her close, looking down at her. "Name the day we will be wed, my heart." He ran a finger over the fabric, which fit like a comfortable second skin, gently. So satin-smooth against already lustrious skin... "I try to make the dragon and the woman happy." "Mmm... We shall decide on a date another time." She nodded slowly as she slipped her arms around his neck, wings fluttering about behind her as her tail flickered up to wrap 'round one of the angel's legs. "Afterall... We must break the news to the children... And Flarie... Unless they all knew before I did?" He smiled softly down at her, staring in awe at the beauty that had claimed him, and that he had now claimed in return for all of eternity. "They do not know. They knew that I had a surprise for you, but they did not know what it was. My side of the house is empty ... Keelan and Keith are having a sleep over and I think Aurora and 'Vyn are out star gazing in your gardens. All the other animals have decided to take a night out doors." He grinned a bit wickedly. "Mmm... And does that mean that my angel has other plans than simply sweeping his dragoness off of her feet with a ring and a promise to wed?" An eyebrow raised over a sparkling silver orb, lips curving into an almost seductive smirk of a grin. He smiled and gave her waist a gentle squeeze as he watched the delicate red eyebrow arch. "Only if my wife-to-be wishes it. There's still dinner ... Don't worry, I didn't cook, I had it catered." He chuckled softly. "If you want dinner anyway..." "T'would be quite the pity to let a catered meal go to waste..." She said as she arched her slender form against him. "But alas... I am not hungry. Are you hungry, love?" She listened as he groaned softly, watching as he closed his eyes. His body responded easily to hers, heightened after the rush of asking the most beautiful woman he'd ever met to be his wife ... And hearing yes. "... Not for food." "Good... Because food can always be reheated." ... ... ... "Heart of my soul... I do so love you..." He kissed her lips gently, cupping her face with one hand, his other finding the hand that held the engagement ring and looped his fingers through hers, squeezing them gently. "I love you as well. And soon the world will know it, for you will be my wife ..." His breath was light on the last word, almost disbelieving. "The first and last man I will ever marry..." Her voice dropped to a soft purr as she looked towards their entertwined fingers, nestling her head against his shoulder. "Words cannot say how much I love you." His gaze was on their fingers as well, the diamonds sparkling in the soft candle light, as most had gone out in time, and others were slowly extinguishing, a small puff of mist floating around the room to put out the flames. "... I have one last surprise for you." He chuckled and called In a black silken robe that had silver stars patterneed all over it for her, and a white one for himself. "Perfect... Much like you, my heart... Ray of sunshine to my endless nights." She moved in order to wrap the robe around herself, helping him into his before nestling against him once more. He smiled and kissed the top of her head, avoiding the crystaline horns with the ease of practice before waving a hand gently, one of the drapes of velvet moving aside to reveal a staircase that hadn't been there before ... Slowly he led her up the stairs with yet another sly grin. "More suprises?" She found herself chuckling softly as she followed him, fingers giving his a gentle squeeze. She couldn't help but feel somewhat tired... Emotionally as well as physically from every joyous thing he had brought to her. Hhe chuckled. "Just this last one ... There's a stair leading down to your side of the house as well ..." He opened the door at the top to reveal a bedroom that was a pleasant mixture of their comparative styles; dark blues mainly with black and white accents mingled as curtains and bed clothes and floor rugs, the furniture a soft golden wood that matched the floor well. "And this ..." He tugged on one of two small bell-pulls on either side of the bed and the ceiling above the bed seemed to shift somehow to reveal the night sky, though it wasn't open air, just bespelled to show the sky on the ceiling. Overcome by childish notions, she released his hand in order to bounce onto the bed... Once... Twice... Before flopping back against the mattress to stare up at the 'sky'. "WinK... This is wonderful... But... I'll still sleep in my old room until Keith is older... If you don't mind?" He smiled and nodded, walking over to the bed. "Of course I do ... He's your child and in such needs your care and attention. You'll always be his mother, but while he's young he needs you. You're to be my wife, and I've waited the first half of eternity for you ... A little while longer won't hurt." She rolled onto her side, propping herself up on her elbow to watch him for a moment before patting the matress beside her. "Come to bed, love... The rest of this night is ours to spend as we wish it." He smiled and slipped into bed, pulling close to her and holding her as he murmered one more 'I love you' before sleep took him, his body exhausted from all the excitement, the adrenaline finally taking its toll. She nuzzled gently against him as she nestled herself within his arms, pressing her lips tenderly alongside his jaw before joining him in the arms of sleep... Tomorrow was another day... But tonight, there was nothing more than simply them.

Rain, rain go away...//Dragons kick butt every day. Role play in the clinic.
The 'dwagon-wady' and her beam of bubbling sunshine made their way into the clinic in order to hide from the rain in the form of a woman wrapped up in a shimmering black cloak and a 'lump' attatched to her side. The moment her feet touched the dry ground within the 'lump' began to move, wriggling to get down. "Nodel-mam... Dooown."
She freed one hand from the child in order to sweep her hood down away from her face before peeking beneath the cloak at the boy. "Only if you promise to be a good boy." As if things like that actually worked.
"Promith." He nodded, bright blue eyes sparkling as she set him down onto his own feet. He'd gotten better at this 'being good' thing. At least, he thought so. He hadn't heard a 'No' in quite some time. Maybe Nodle-mam was just happy because of her new sparklie... If he had a sparklie he'd be happy...
... ... ...
Hinote held her mother's hand tightly as they walked down the street towards the clinic. Hmm... what was with mommy lately? She was grumbling things under her breath, and her face was all scrunched up and everything. Did she wake up on the wrong side of the bed or something? Then again... what was the wrong side of the bed? Note gasped. She better be careful which side of her new bed she got off.
As the door was opened and they walked in, Hinote's eyes lit up. She liked this place! She met many new friends here... Maybe she'd find someone else? She looked at Yuu and tugged on the side of the long skirt she wore today. "Mommy, can I esxplore?" she asked.
"Sure, Kiddo. I'll just be sitting over here ok?" The teen replied. Odd, mommy said that almost automatically, like a robot... was she okay?
Meh, she'll be okay. Note nodded and ran off to see if she could find something or someone to play with.
... ... ...
By this time, Skye had placed her cloak on a peg by the door to drip dry before flopping down onto a chair. She wasn't really worried about it drying as she rather enjoyed the rain... But she had been told that it wasn't always good for little children to be out and about in it for long periods of time.
Keith, on the other hand, had managed to pull one of his smaller dragon plushies out from his overalls where he'd hidden it. It was one of the ones that wasn't supposed to leave his room... But with the ban on bringing Blar out and about with him? The indignity!
So there on the ground he sat, bright red locks of hair bobbing about as he moved his bright blue plush with glittering star spots about the floor. "Rawwrrrr." Because just about everyone knew that dragons went rawr... Especially when they found a princess that they liked.
... ... ...
Hinote's ears twitched as she heard a "Rawrrrr" somewhere near. Someone was around? o.o
... Indeed there was! After looking around for a moment, she saw a red-headed boy with a dragon plushie colored by the night sky. Wooooooow. That was neat! Plus it was glittery. Maybe he'd like to play?
The little girl toddled over to him and sat down. "Hiiii~" she greeted him with a friendly smile. "Watchu doing?"
... ... ...
His eyes went wide as he was 'caught', quickly pulling the dragon to him as he watched her with caution. She wouldn't try to take the toy from him, would she? What was it that Nodel-mam had said about... Sharing?
"Keif ish... Pwaying wif dwagon." He nodded, suddenly seeming a bit more bold. The dragon was his and he might as well show it off... Because it was pretty and sparkling. "See?" He held it out to her, showing the fine craftsmanship that made up the near indestructable plush.
... ... ...
"Wow! Ish a vewy pretty dragon!" She exclaimed, looking at the details on the plush a bit more. So... tempted... to touch it...
But then again, it wasn't hers, so that wouldn't be to nice, would it? "Um, could I touch it?" she asked politely. "My name ish Note, by da way." Well, it was Hinote, but she perferred her nickname much more. After all, she heard it more often. And it was easier to say it!
... ... ...
"... 'Note." He smiled at her, eyes dancing with merriment as he pointed to himself. "Keif." Of course, his mother said it differently. She said 'Keith'... But what was the difference in a few sounds.
His brow furrowed slightly as her question sunk into his head, teeth chomping onto a lower lip that had mastered the art of pouting. Well... He knew her name now. If she took off with the plushie he could always track her... He gave it one last hug before handing it over to her. "Careful wif 'Rion."
... ... ...
"Okies, Keif." She reached out for the dragon plushie, and held it like it was something fragile, like a glass, or... or a baby. Wow, it was so soft! Note loved soft things. Carefully, she hugged it, giggling at the nice feeling. Note's wings fluttered a moment before she decided to give the plushie back to its rightful owner. It seemed like the dragon was very important to him after all. "What is Dragon's name, again? Dragon very cuddly."
... ... ...
He bit down on his lip once more as the plushie was handed back to him. Nodel-mam had said to share... Maybe... "... 'Note can hold 'Rion... For a wittle bit?" He nodded to confirm his words. "Long as Keif can have back later."
It was then that his eyes were distracted by the flutter of her wings. His lips parted slightly, bright blue orbs broadening with curiosity. Slowly, he reached a hand out to poke at a feather, quickly withdrawing it when he realized that she might not want to be touched. He knew he didn't particularly like people poking at his horns... "Sorries..."
... ... ...
"Really?" Hinote grinned, happy that he didn't mind sharing. "Tank coo! Keif nice." ^.^
Noticing that Keith was curious about her wings and hearing him appologize made her giggle. She didn't mind it, really. In her opinion, curiosity was a good thing. Well... most of the time. "Ish okies~ If you want, you can touch them. Just be careful."
... ... ...
His nose scrunched at the laughter, a twinge of pink touching his pale cheeks. Whether it was because he was being laughed at or simply because he felt silly was above and beyond his mind at the moment. Of course, she had said that he could further examine her wings... So it couldn't be all that bad, could it?
He reached out once more, carefully letting fingers caress a feather. "Soft... Like 'Rion... But not." His smile broadened as he brought his eyes to meet her gaze. "Unca WinK has fea-- fea-- Fluffy wing things."
... ... ...
"Unca WinK?" Hinote repeated. "Who's zat?" As she looked at him, her eyes glowed its usual soft red while she petted Rion. "And yesh... Feathers are soft... and floofy. Me like 'em."
... ... ...
"Unca WinK..." He blinked as he tried to process how he should describe the man who was now living (along with his family) in the house next door. "Fwend of Nodel-mam. Biiig wingies... This big." He spread his arms out as far as he could, stretching to make himself look even more impressive. Of course, his 'wing-span' was nothing compared to the man's he was trying to describe.
"Keif no have feffers. Keif has... These things." He pointed to the tiny, glass-like horns attop his head. They weren't pointy... Most likely so he wouldn't hurt himself touching them... But they were pretty.
... ... ...
Note blinked and looked at the length of the man's wing span Keith was trying to portray to her. "Wooow... They must be big. Mommy and Reirei have wings too." Hinote pointed to the young teenager who was half-asleep on a couch, listening to her loud rock music. "Mommy got gway wings like me. Her wings change... uh... bigness though. My sis Reirei has pretty black wings." Note found herself rambling a bit, and stopped. Rambling on and on was kinda bad. >>
When Keith pointed out his horns, Hinote couldn't help but stare in wonder for a moment. "Woooooooooow," she gasped, her mouth shaped in an "o". "Those are pretty horns. I have horns too. Though... they're pointy. Very pointy." Hinote scrunched up her face, remembering the time during her birthday party when a balloon popped because it came in contact with one of her horns. Gah, poor balloon!
... ... ...
"Nodel-mam 'as wingies... Like a bat." He ducked as he said that, eyeing the woman who was sitting on the chair as if she were going to say something. Of course, it was probably a good thing that she wasn't paying attention... Not like she would've said anything anyways. "Modder not 'ave wingies."
He nearly preened when he heard the compliments on his horns. He was rather proud of them... They were very pretty... Like the glass statues that the 'dogbreaf' had told him he couldn't touch. Silly creature... "Pointy fings hurt... Must be careful..."
... ... ...
"Oh, bat wings... Mommy has wings under her hat," Hinote added. She pretended to be taking off a hat and pointed to her own horns. "Instead of horns, mommy has tiny batty wings on her head. Mommy doesn't like people to see it though." Hinote never understood that. What's so wrong with showing her little head wings? Those were cool! At least, Hinote thought so. "They're better than pointy horns... Pointy stuff pop balloons..." ._. Note gave Rion a small hug, trying to get rid of the loud "POP!" sound that was ringing in her head with the horrid memory.
... ... ...
"Sometimes... People no like how tey look... Nodel-mam tells Unca WinK she no like wingies. Keif think wingies... Cool." Yes! That was the word. He had heard his sisters use it frequently enough... Especially Laire. She liked that word. Alot. This was cool and That was cool too. Everything was cool.
... Except for the fact that Nodel-mam didn't like that word at all because it was 'too general'. Whatever that meant.
Balloons. He remembered those. Vaguely. Unca WinK had brought some to the house on various occassions. They hadn't popped though... He reached out to pat Hinote on the hand. "S'ok... No poppy fhings here."
... ... ...
"Hmm, I guess so," Hinote nodded, thinking about Keith's reason. "Keif smart. Makes lots of sense." Perhaps Yuu did not think the wings on her head were nice or anything... Eh, well, that's mommy for ya. She's always weird.
After looking around again, making sure that Keith was right, Note let out a sigh of relief. "Glad that they're no poppy things here." Her eye then caught glimpse of another toy. " ... But there are things to play with. Want to play with me?"
... ... ...
He grinned brightly. He liked being called smart. It made him feel much better about being so young... Especially when the 'older folk' didn't seem to see everything the same way as the 'little ones'.
"Pway?" He blinked. He really hadn't played with many people... Keelan, yes. But he was a centaur... They ran around outside and played hide-n-go-seek. "What you want pway?"
... ... ...
"Hmmm.... I dunno, I was hopping you might have an idea," Hinote gave him her silly "oops!" grin, as she then rubbed her chin, thinking. "But there be a lot of toys here. Oooh!" She then noticed a xylophone on the floor. "Want to play music? Me like playing instraments."
... ... ...
"Keif knows music! Keif likes it... But never pwayed it..." His lips formed a pretty pout, eyes dancing with a trace of darkness. That was one of the things that he was going to have to learn about. "Keif pwayed... Hide-and-peek and... Pwetend. Keelan was knight... And Keif was dragon..." He nodded. That had been a fun day.
... ... ...
"Music ish easy and fun," Hinote nodded, as she let him hold the soft dragon plushie, and played the xylophone a bit. "See?"
When he mentioned though, other games, like pretend, it caught her attention. "Oooooh... Pretend? I never played that before. How do you play?"
... ... ...
He stood slowly as he spoke, trying to do a demonstration as well. "Pwetend is... When... You be somefing that you... Not. Like... A biiiig monster wif fangs." He brought his pointer fingers up beside his mouth, letting them hang down to look more like tusks than fangs. All in all, he looked quite silly.
"Or... A pwincess in a tower... Pwotected by a dwagon." He nodded vigerously. That was a story he liked... Until the knight came along. They didn't seem to understand that dragons weren't bad. They were good!
... ... ...
"Oooh! I want to play a pwrincess!" Hinote exclaimed, jumping up and down. Daddy read her stories often. Although... some of them were.. very confusing... but the fairy tales about princesses intrigued her interest. Even though Mommy said taht she didn't have to be a princess to be happy, it wouldn't hurt to pretend to be one.
... ... ...
"Weee! Faaaassss!" Sachiya squealed, tugging on a few loose strands of Chibi's hair he had clenched in his small fist. He wanted Midori to go faster! That way he could go and see his friends at that place his Daddy always took him. When the stag only slowed down, the boy gave a disgruntled snort, ears flipping backwards. He said faster! He didn't wanna go slower!
Sighing softly, Chibi adjusted the boy in his arms, slipping off Midori as neatly as he could muster with the added weight. "Hush Sach. We're here." He murmured, turning the toddler around in his arms so he could see the building.
"Heeere?" The boy repeated, red eyes blinking up at the clinic. Yes! They had made it! Waving good-bye to Midori over his shoulder, he turned back abruptly when the pair passed through the door. At first, Sachiya didn't spot anyone he knew. Waait.. there was Note! Squealing happily, the toddler waved, wiggling excitedly. "Nooote!"
... ... ...
Note's ears twitched at the familiar voice. Wait... was it? Where was he? Looking around frantically, she finally laid her eyes on her friend--wait, wow! o.o "Sachy?" She tilted her head to the side and blinked a couple of times. Wow... Sachiya was bigger now! "Sachy!!! Hey, it's my fwend!" Note grinned, pointing him out to her new friend Keith, before waving back at Sachiya.
... ... ...
He crossed his arms instantly over his chest at the arrival of the new boy, a pout passing over his lips. "Fine... You be pwincess... I be the dwagon and..." His nose wrinkled as he pointed to the newcomer. "If he's wans to pway he 'as to be the knigh..." Because everyone knew that no one wanted to be the knight... Mainly because they ended up losing to the dragons in the end.
Skye had heard these things and finally began to pay attention to the conversation that her 'bundle of joy' was carrying on. She knew how this would end... And it had the promise to not be pretty at all. She'd get her elder sons for encouraging him later...
She stood slowly, watching over the wee ones before swooping over to retrieve her son. "Keith... We have to go now, sweetie. Mother will be looking for us and it's nearly your bed time."
The look on his face was nearly crushing to the dragoness' heart... Almost enough to make her agree to let him stay, even if he hadn't yet asked with words... Of course, knowing that the WrathofFlarie would be waiting if they weren't home on time? "Come now, little one..." She lifted the boy into her arms, turning towards the door with him.
"Bai, 'Note... Pway later? Pwomise... Keep 'Rion 'til I do. Dwagon's word."
... ... ...
"Aww... You going now, Keif?" Note pouted. As much as she wanted to protest, his mom was already taking him away. "Okies, remember, you pwomised Keif! Bai new fwend~" She tried to smiles as much as she could as she watched him leave. He was nice boy. Hopefully they'll meet again soon.

"I've got another confession to make... I'm your fool." Skye's Thoughts - June 10th WinK and I engaged in our first fight last night. Apparantly our views on parenting are quite different... And I'm not sure that he understands many of the things that I am trying to say when it comes to that subject.
He seems to think that it is alright to let Keelan, his son (who can't be much older than Keith), do whatever he'd like. He roams about at all hours, playing beneath the stars and doing whatever it is that he pleases. Well, last night, WinK told him that he could stay up to watch the meteor shower. Being the good friends that they've become, Keelan automatically assumed that Keith would be allowed to stay up all night with him.
I don't think so.
Although it may have been a 'special occassion' (as WinK pointed out to me) Keith is a young lad with alot of growing to do. He needs his rest and all night is far too long for any child of mine to be awake when he's so young. He's my son. My only son. I don't want to risk anything about him... Especially not his moods due to lack of sleep. Good sleeping patterns are important at a young age... I mean... Just look at my older ones! Up all night because there was no sleeping schedule when they were younger!
Being a good parent... It's important to me... Keith... He's the only chance that I'll have to do this right. The others are older now. They would tell me straight out that I've done a wonderful job... But I can't help but see how withdrawn they've become and wonder where I've gone wrong.
Why can't he understand how I feel about this?
We made up after the fight and I believe that things are better now... But can I spend the rest of my life with someone who doesn't understand me? Was I too rash in making my decisions to accept his proposal? Don't get me wrong... And dearest, should you ever (for whatever reason) find my journal and read its contents, please know that I have no regrets. I do so love you. Surely you know that... I just...
I couldn't take having my heart broken again. I know that I will always have Flarie and, for her friendship (along with everything else that we've shared), I am eternally greatful... I couldn't take Keith losing someone he obviously cares for either. He is far too young to know loss...
Alas, I cannot protect him from the world forever... But... I can try.

Creature of the night...//There's a monster in my closet. It had been hours since she'd gone to bed... She wasn't exactly tired, but she had been told that it 'would be wise to get some sleep'. She was alone... For the first night in quite some time... And quickly realizing that she didn't like it at all...
Up until the moment that her door creaked open and a bright red head peeked in followed by the blackish grey head of a stuffed dragon. "Nodel-mam... Keif... Had bad dreams." He sounded so tiny... Much younger than his 'years' would suggest... So frightened.
She sat up slowly, slipping out of bed in order to stoop down and draw the child into her arms. Slender fingers ran through ruddy locks of hair... Still amazed by how long it had grown since he was born. "It's alright, Keith... We'll go back to your room... And chase the monsters away, alright?"
His eyes were wide as he looked up to his 'moon mother'... Wide with terror... And amazement. Nodel-mam... Would fight the closet monster for him? "A--Alrigh'."
The 'Gweat Dwagon Wady, Defendor of All' lifted the wee 'Dragon Knight' into her arms, carrying him across the hall to his room. Silvery blue eyes gave a quick sweep of the area. "There's nothing here..." She nodded in that 'matter o' fact' manner before setting him down on his bed, holding back a laugh as she watched him stand there staring up at her with those brilliant eyes.
"Check... The closet?"
At that she did chuckle. "Alright, alright... I'll check the closet." She stalked slowly towards the 'monster's lair', opening the door with a great amount of care. Her eyes scanned the shelves and looked to the floor and when she was certain that the monster was no more... She turned around and began to sing.
"Close your eyes. Have no fear. The monsters gone; he's on the run and your daddy's here..." As she sang she made her way back towards his bed, pulling the wee boy to her as she sat down on the tiny toddler mattress. "Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful... Beautiful boy."
She ignored his tiny protest that 'boys were han'some... not bootiful' as she gave him one more hug before lying him down and tugging his covers over him. "Before you go to sleep, say a little prayer. Every day in every way, it's getting better and better... Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful... Beautiful boy..."
A kiss was pressed to his forhead; fingers running through his hair one last time as she stood, watching her 'beautiful boy' drift back into the world of dreams. "Out on the ocean sailing away... I can hardly wait to see you to come of age. But I guess we'll both just have to be patient. Yes it's a long way to go... But in the meantime..." Her voice grew quiet as she walked towards the door, turning towards him in order to finish her sweet lullaby. "Before you cross the street take my hand... Life is just what happens to you while your busy making other plans..."
If that wasn't the truth... She closed her eyes for a moment, opening them only to see the amazing child that her house mate had given birth do. "Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful... Beautiful Keith..."Song is "Beautiful Boy" by John Lennon.

Pretty in Pink Blue // Shall We Dance? She had been invited here by the lovely lass Cerena... And told to bring her charming young 'prince' so that their wee bratlings could play together... And perhaps dance. Afterall, they'd hit off so well at the wedding. Why not dress them up in pretty things and let them masquerade together once more?
The lady wore a simple gown of midnight blue so as not to attract too much attention to herself. Her mask was simple as well... Something she had pulled from her closet of costumes as a memory of what once was. Platinum bands glittered from slender fingers as she escorted the young lad through the trees. "Come Keith... We must not keep your young lass waiting."
The wee boy merely nodded before puffing up his chest and standing proudly. Somehow he had let his mother talk him into wearing the stuffy dress clothes again. A crisp white shirt was tucked into a pair of midnight blue pants that were belted off by something shiney from the dragon-lady's closet. His mask was silly and it kept slipping every so often... But Nodel-mam had insisted that he wear it as well because the party that they were attending was 'special'. The pretty butterfly was supposed to join them... So was Mum. "Keif 'as no lass... Leef just a f-fwend."
Cerena had lost her prey, unfortunately, and was sulking around feeling sorry for herself and her lack of insect-catching skills when she caught sight of Skye and a familiar red-haired nephew. "Heeey! Guys!" She cheered, waving and coming over. "I'm glad you could make it! I think Lethe is... is um... Oh! There!" And she pointed at the oblivious pale young girl.
She smiled brightly as the familiar voice was heard from beneath a mask. Arms slipped around the other female and a friendly kiss was pressed to the girl's cheek. "Lovely to see you indeed, Cerena. Thank you for inviting us. I know that Keith was looking forward to seeing Lethe again after they had so much fun at the wedding."
His cheeks turned an odd ruddy color and, for once, he was glad to be wearing the silly mask. Nodel-mam was not helping things. "Keif can speak for self... 'Lo, Aunt Cere." He bit down gently on his lower lip as he peeked around his mother in order to see where the pale princess was. "Lee-tay busy? Means Keif can go home... An' not wear stuffy shirt no more?"
Cerena was not so angry as determined that Keith would not have had to get dressed up and ready to go for nothing (and what if that strange horse boy crushed her baby?? What then?!?!? She didn't have Fa'e insurance and didn't want to have to go through another reincarnation of... babies!) She tried to creep up, ninja-like, behind Lethe, but decided that she didn't really want to offend the Fa'e girl's new friend (you know, just in case Lethe was actually having fun. Was that something warm and fuzzy in that padd--no, must not get distracted!)
"Hello!" Cerena crouched down to pick up Lethe's mask and smiled up at Devi. "My name is Cerena, I'm Lethe's guardian -- could I maybe just borrow her for a bit, her cousin's here and he really wants to see her and um, I really like your costume, it looks really natural, hehe, I'm glad Lethe's making new friends, I hope she can catch you later, uhm sorry for interrupting, bye!" And having said this all in the span of about three seconds, she wrapped her arms around the young Fa'e girl and carried her off.
Lethe squawked indignantly at this ungraceful -- kidnapping, that's what it was! -- but quieted down once she caught sight of Keith. "Will talk later more, Devi! Thank-yew for showing of Zer!" And once Cerena reached Skye and Keith, and had set her down: "Keif!" The younger girl shrieked happily and half-hugged him as best she could with her ribbons in the way. "Keif came!"
"So there!" Cerena stuck her tongue out at the younger boy. "Here is Lee-tay, and Keif has to stay and wear stuffy shirt!"
His eyes went wide as his 'aunt' began her ninja act. He'd seen her do something like that before only not quite like that. At least, he thought so. Were all adults as strange? He knew that Nodel-mam was. And so was Aunt Was'her'name and Unca Jar. Maybe it was just a family thing?
Tiny brow furrowed as he was hugged and his shirt was mussed. "Aunt Cere no fun..." His grumble was half-hearted and soon replaced by a bright smile. "Keif had to come. Nodel-mam said so... An' Lee-tay's here... So not all bad. 'Aving fun?"
She chuckled softly as she watched the two, feeling a bit of emotion building up. "Oi, Cere... They grow up so fast. First dances already." A silk handkerchief was removed from her sleeve and quickly slipped beneath her mask in order to dab at her eyes. For some strange reason her emotions had been running high as of late.
"Yes fun!" Cere protested, but was temporarily distracted from lecturing any further by the bright zip of something that sprinkled shiny fairydust. Neat!
Lethe nodded, pulling away and absentmindedly waving the mask in front of her face. "Is strange though, trying t'meet people when they are trying t'hide who they really are. Silly." She emphasized this last word with another wave of her mask. "Am glad Keif is here now!" She chirped, easily changing subjects, "Always more fun to be had when someone of knowing is here."
Cerena finally turned her attention back to Skye, and began to applaud at her apparent magically-appearing hankerchief trick. "Yeah-yeah, it's not fair!" She frowned, lower lip sliding out into a pout, "I wasn't allowed to dance with boys until I was -- well, er, I don't think I'd still be allowed to now." She blinked and then glared down at Lethe and Keith. "Stop growing! STOPPIT!" She flailed wildly with her arms as if trying to hypnotize them into doing her bidding, and then stopped for fear of frightening them.
Lethe merely stared. "...Does Keif want punch?" She wasn't sure where she'd left her cup, but she was certain she knew how to get more.
"Nodel-man said Keif 'as to wear stuffy shirt an' maks 'cause it... Makes special? Or someit like that." He huffed in a childish form of annoyance before yet another bug-eyed glance was given to the flailing woman he called aunt. "Maybe punch good idea... Nodel-mam? Can Keif go get punch?"
She draped an arm loosely over Cerena's shoulder before offering her the bit of fabric. "There there, dear... They'll never listen if you order them about like that. Everyone grows at their own pace and we'll just have to enjoy their childhood while we can... Did you bring a camera?"
His question obviously ignored he huffed once more before offering a little arm to his cousin. "Punch now... Silly Nodel-mam an' Aunt Cere later. They find us. Maybe."
Lethe scrunched up her nose. "Lethe had to wear special dress." She replied helpfully, "Is pretty, but strange, too, 'specially when not anyone is s'posed to recognize other anyones. Why not just wear what one wants, then, 'n not worry about trying to look pretty?"
Cerena accepted the hankerchief and dabbed at the non-existant tears in her eyes. "No, I didn't," She replied, horrified, "I took a picture before we left, but I didn't think to bring one with me -- do you think anyone else would have one we could borrow?" She looked around frantically, if only to make sure a camera fairy wouldn't magically appear and drop one into her lap. She pondered asking Lethe and Keith to freeze until she found one, but decided this was not practical. It would look obviously posed, if they tried to keep in one position to wait and take a picture, and posed pictures were not particularly fun.
Lethe gratefully accepted her cousin's arm, gently pulling him along towards the buffet table. "Good punch... Right color... Crazy One won't worry." She nodded, before staring dubiously at the punch bowl. How dare it be so high up, were she could not reach easily? The young Fa'e girl managed to get two of the cups, but the punch itself remained tauntingly hard to get.
"Lee-tay likes dress though... Keif though. Lee-tay liked other dress from big party with shinies and rings, right?" At least she'd seemed like it. He'd had too many other things to worry about... Like clothes... And not loosing things. Like rings.
"Maybe Flarie will remember to bring her camera... If she comes with Lana, that is. I know Lana had picked a dress out... And worked rather hard on some other parts of her costume..." She sighed softly. It would have been very nice to get everyone out and about. "I need to get the rest of my kids to leave the house."
Enter the problem of the punch that could not be summoned. As hard as one might stare there was nothing that would move the bowl. "If Keif had wings... Keif could fly up and get punch. Or if Keif had magic... Keif could grow taller..." And then, almost as if by magic, some strange horse-man (much like Keelan... But not like Keelan at all) came and filled their cups. One petite hand shifted down to the wooden handel of his sword (which was, in reality, a 'jester's wand' for the evening). How was he supposed to save the day if someone else insisted on doing it. Cousin Lee-tay was the princess of the story tonight. Maybe this four legged creature was the evil something-or-other.
Delicate brow furrowed darkly as he muttered a 'thank-you' before accepting the cup. He'd sort out this fractured fairy tale... Somehow.
