The students were filtering in, all around Sanyu’s age or older. It wasn’t long before the class begun. Of course, it started with all the formalities. The bowing, the greetings, followed by the stretches. Followed then by the drills. For the entire class, Sanyu’s arm seemed to be doing fine. There was no real flare up in her energy. Rather opposite. She seemed a lot calmer when she was fighting. Focused, yes, but no flare ups in the energy at all.

Therefore the first class went by uneventful. When that was done and over with, only Sanyu stayed behind. Smaller children were coming in now. They weren’t complete beginners, they already had advanced a belt level or two, but they were still young and certainly not so experienced. They mostly came in already dressed, their parents following behind them. The kids kicked off their shoes a little more haphazardly, making a pretty jumbled pile in the floor.

“Ohayo gozaimasu, Sensei!”
“Ohayo, Sanyu-sensei!”

The children all filed in and proceeded with the same routine. Bows and greetings were followed by the stretches. Then the Sensei ran over a few drills before announcing that Sanyu-sensei was going to work with them for the rest of the class.

The Sensei took this time as a break, observing from outside of the classroom, standing by Mirohoshi. Without looking over at Sanyu’s “friend”, he spoke to him.

“I suppose you know that her arm is injured?” He said simply.

Mirohoshi watched the proceedings of the class with interest, especially the first one. He followed the Sensei's movements eagerly, pleased to discover that the older man was certainly as good as he'd heard. He was equally pleased to realize that Sanyu was quite clearly as the top of her class. While she wasn't nearly as smooth in her movements as her Sensei, she was quite good, though Mirohoshi planned on giving her a lesson or two. Then, he had the advantage of multiple styles of martial arts under his belt. Though one could almost swear she did too. There was something in her style that, though it was clearly her Sensei's, very much gave the impression that her style was somehow her own and no one else's.

A slight smile lifted his lips as he watched the children. Sometimes, he'd kill to be that age again, unaware of the dangers in the world, still innocent and untarnished by the harsh realities of life. They were eager, still slightly undisciplined, though showing signs of learning. He was pleasantly surprised at their maturity when a mistake was made. There was none of the joking and poking fun so often found amongst children. Instead, they would do their best to assist whoever had missed a step, or turned into a kick wrong.

He said nothing as the Sensei joined him, having expected it. He did his best to hide his surprise, however, when the older man brought up Sanyu's arm. Mirohoshi certainly hadn't expected her master to be quite that astute, though he was grateful for it.

He shook his head mildly. "I was not aware it is injured. I do know that she is having problems with it that extend beyond the physical, but my own spiritual senses are not so keen as to notice flaws in another. I was not certain if the problems were the result of injury or inability to control her inherent energy, which seems to me to be exceedingly high, much like my own, something I'm guessing you have already noticed, both in her and in me."

“Sanyu has amazing control of her physical body, but her ki is another story. I am confident that she will gain the ability to control it in time, however, I’m also afraid that when she does no one in the class will be brave enough to fight her.” He gave a light hearted chuckle.

“She held back today. But, only with that one arm. Had she not, I may not have noticed the injury at all. The fact that she’s being cautious about this injury means that it’s more serious than the usual. How serious, I can’t tell. After all, Sanyu would probably show up for class even if all her limbs were broken. Would probably use her casts like clubs.”

Sanyu was smiling as she walked through the rows of children, watching as they performed the day’s lesson. She’d stop to help a child, giving them her undivided attention until they managed the new move correctly. She was so… different. At the bar she acted like she believed that the world was full of nothing but drunken perverts. Anyone who got too close was likely to end up on the ground, and not in a good way. Sanyu was guarded… closed… distant… and pissed. Here she was at home. Happy, even. It was hard to believe that someone like her could even handle children. It was even more of a shock that she handled them so well.

So it was a lack of control. Somehow, Mirohoshi felt significantly better just having his theory confirmed. Of course, the confirmation of said theory didn't technically assist in solving the problem, but it was a start. It did, however, mean that Mirohoshi could ask some questions that might mean something later on.

Right now, the biggest concern wasn't Sanyu's lack of control at all. It was the damage it could do. Sanyu was honestly worried that her arm might be permanently damaged, and while Mirohoshi doubted it, he couldn't be certain.

"To me, it seems that Sanyu has a problem with an overflow of energy, and for some reason, it seems to focus in that arm. Have you ever heard of anyone permanently damaging themselves in such a fashion?"

“It doesn’t focus on that arm. It’s true that her ki is unlike any I have ever seen, but it’s evenly distributed, However for some reason, only the one arm is injured. It’s possible that she tried to use her ki without the proper control and her arm physically couldn’t handle it. The effects… I can’t be sure of. I’ve never heard of any such injuries, especially not any that are permanent. But, if you’ll excuse me, it’s about time that I wrap up this class.”

With that, the Sensei made his way back into the classroom. Sanyu bowed and the respect was a gain returned. She turned and bowed to the students, who also returned the bow before chiming: “Sayounara, Sanyu-sensei!”

Sanyu exited the classroom. Almost immediately, she seemed to be back to usual.

“See? I did just fine.” She muttered. So he didn’t need to come with her at all. He had only come along to jump in if her arm messed up, which it didn’t, so there was no need for him to have come along. Or… something like that.

Mirohoshi shook his head as the Sensei walked away. He wasn't so certain she's tried to use her ki at all. More like it had tried to use itself, and blew through her physical barriers to such a possibility. To top that, the Sensei had never heard of such injuries before. That was not necessarily promising in any way.

A smirk lifted the right side of his mouth as she walked out and tossed her comment at him. Now he was going to piss her off, and he knew it. "That is not entirely true. Your Sensei commented that you were holding back with that arm, and asked me if I'd known it was injured."

He stepped forward. "He also granted me permission to engage you in a sparring session, should you be up for it. Of course, what with you holding back and all, I'd understand if you don't feel strong enough to fight me right now."

Mirohoshi was well aware of what he was doing. Sanyu was going to get angry, very, very angry. She was proud of her abilities, and taking shots like that at her would wound that pride severely. But she would not attack him now, in the open, not with her Sensei and her students in such close proximity. But she would not turn down the chance to spar, and she was not likely to hold back either.

“Would ya have preferred that I be careless?” She asked simply, crossing her arms over her chest. “Or did ya just not expect me to be cautious? Just because I’m stubborn doesn’t mean I’m an idiot.”

Sanyu grabbed her ponytail, pulling out the hair tie. Her hair had come loose in her own class and she hadn’t fixed it before the kids’ class.

“It also doesn’t mean I’m weak.”

She pulled her hair back tight again and fixed it up in the hair tie. After she was done, she shot Mirohoshi a dirty look.

“Don’t underestimate me.”

Due to personal experience, Mirohoshi found himself disagreeing with her statement about being stubborn and an idiot, but he choice not to voice his opinion on that particular subject. He wasn't looking to insult her, just annoy her. As she fixed her hair again, the thought once again crossed his mind that it looked better up for some reason.

Mirohoshi merely raised an eyebrow at the dirty look. He had no plans on returning the look. After all, he wasn't pissed at her or anything like that. Although he found himself chuckling at her final shot.

"I would advise you avoid the same mistake with me, or you'll find me walking all over you."

“I better not be overestimating ya.” She said simply, shrugging lightly. He had laughed at her and that was rather annoying, but here wasn’t the place to loose her temper. It wouldn’t set a good example for the children. Besides, she could use the energy when they sparred.

“Don’t disappoint me.”

Mirohoshi slid his pack from his shoulders and leaned against the wall, crossing his arms over his expansive chest, allowing the pack to dangle from his arm by one strap. He said nothing until the children had all left with their parents, figuring that it would be bad to instill the idea of fighting challenges in their yet impressionable heads.

As the children left, he stood, letting his pack settle to the floor where the pile of children's shoes had been. "I don't believe I'll be doing that at all, though I may need to pay another hospital bill when I'm done."

“If ya don’t mean ya own… then ya are just getting overconfident again. How am I supposed to take ya seriously when ya just sitting here breaking the first rule of combat by underestimating me?” She cracked her knuckles before stretching her arms up over her head.

“Stop wasting ya energy on threats. I want a good fight, ya know.”

It was about that time that the Sensei walked out.

“Just let me get my bowl of rice and then we can begin.”

Mirohoshi allowed his eyes to wander a little when she stretched. Hell, it was only natural to do so anyway. He didn't even bother to respond to her complaining, though he smiled slightly. He knew well that she was strong, but knew that her lack of control on the energy he could harness so well put her at a disadvantage that she simply could not overcome.

While he was not particularly likely to use his full abilities in front of the Sensei, Mirohoshi had no plans on holding back from using abilities the Sensei would likely expect as a way of using 'ki', even if the Sensei himself couldn't use it as such a powerful level.

"That sounds good to me. I am eager to engage Sanyu in combat."

The Sensei returned shortly with his breakfast. As he walked back into the classroom, where he normally wouldn’t have eaten, he waved the two in.

“If you are both ready then, you may begin. Just don’t mind me.”

He sort of perched himself on a chair in the corner of the room, popping the first bite of rice into his mouth.

Sanyu flashed a smile at Mirohoshi. It wasn’t a smile of happiness like she had shown in the classroom. It was actually more of a mischievous smile. A smile that said she was actually looking forward to this fight. Without hesitation, she walked back into the classroom.

The problem with mischievious smiles is that they don't always convey the message they are meant to. Of course, that problem only partially applied in this situation simply due to Mirohoshi's relative naivety. While he didn't actually get the meaning of her smile at all, he also wasn't taking any other meaning from it, unlike others.

He quickly followed Sanyu into the classroom, bowing to the Sensei as he entered. "I appreciate this opportunity."

He then turned to Sanyu and also bowed. "I am ready when you are." His stance was loose, relaxed, obscenely calm. He seemed to have no sense of urgency about him, as though he was confident that this would not be a problem of any sort for him.

“Good.” Sanyu said simply, her lips forming a bit of a smirk. Then, she put both of her feet together, her arms laying straight down at her sides. She cast down her eyes, forming a bow. Only, she didn’t wait for him to return the respectful gesture. As soon as she came up from the bow, she charged.

She ran at him, her left fist raised and ready for the first punch. Only, it never landed. Instead she threw her left foot out, making her momentum come to sudden halt. The excess energy from the charge was instead put into a spin in her body. Her weight on her left foot, she spun in such a way that her right shin was aimed at his ribs.
