In class, we're playing Danse Macabre, West Side Story, and the orginal version of Star Wars.
In my Youth Orchestra, we're playing Exultations written by a percussion member and Grand Canyon Suite by Grofe.
I'm playing Mendolssohn's violin concerto in E minor. It's, uh, pretty damn difficult. sweatdrop It makes Bach's III Partita seem easy.

We've been playing Finlandia and mov'ts 4,5,&6 of Capriccio Espagnol. We're starting a new concerto I've forgotten the name of, some supposedly difficult Disney medley, and possibly the first 3 movements of Capriccio. :]

Mozart's 3rd... I remember that piece. Good times. (Yeah, like it was so long ago... but anyway.)
We played Jupiter last year, but my orchestra director was too cheap to buy the origional verson. We just used a left over arrangement that he'd found in the back of the office, and he taped some parts from the origional over it. That was interesting. rolleyes

Kalile Alako Hey, that's ok. At least you're playing something recognizable, even if it's been arranged half to death. When I was in middle school, we made it into Midwest clinic playing a song called "Babe the Blue Ox Sleeps" stressed 'Course we beat out a bunch of high schools, and Midwest supposedly hates middle school orchestras. But still... Babe the Blue Ox Sleeps? Give me a break! Great avi, by way. Quite Adorable. We're going to Midwest this year! =D I think they typically have 2 or 3 middle school groups, and then about 4 high school groups, with about half of those string, and the other half full. Then the rest of the 30 groups are band. {shakes fist at bands} ;] We got in with Capriccio Espagnol by Rimsky-Korsakov, and {groans} Greensleeves, arr. Vaughn Williams.

I missed Midwest because I was in 8th grade when we tried out, and had moved on to high school by the time we actually went. Sadly, my high school went the same year, and I wasn't in the level that went until this year. stressed
