Saiyan Master Vegeta
It's possible, but extremely unlikely. The circumstances would have to be ridiculously in favor of the E-ranked person, and the A-ranked person would have to be at some sort of major disadvantage.
Ridiculously so?
PostPosted: Mon Aug 06, 2007 9:39 pm

Yes, ridiculously so. An E-ranked person actually killing (i.e. beyond even injuring them) would be like me defeating Jackie Chan in a fist fight.

Maybe I could win if I got one extremely vital shot in, played it cheap and hit his privates, or pulled out a weapon in the middle of the fist fight. I could do it, but the chances are gravely low.

Maybe I could beat him after he just ran a marathon or worked out for a whole day non-stop. For me to win, I'd have to have an advantage, and/or manipulate his disadvantage.

In this context, defeating them is remote, but possible. Killing them is completely out of the question for two people with such a power difference. In the end, the E-ranked person would have to have some kind of major advantage, and the A-ranked person would have to have a clear-cut disadvantage of some sort.

Hmm, so are you saying that it has to be this way for a lower ranked to defeat someone of an extremely higher rank, or that this is the only plausible way in your eyes?

For such a power gap, there should be a realistic answer for the E-ranked person defeating the A-ranked person.

As in, maybe a bunch of E-ranked people ganged-up on the A-ranked person. Or, as I've said before, the E-ranked person has a major advantage and the A-ranked person has a major disadvantage.

In a straight-up one-on-one fight in this scenario, with no advantage either way, under normal circumstances, it would be out of the question for the A-ranked person to lose.

Defeat can happen in many ways. Just make it realistic.

Another question, if two extremely elite players, both of whom are at the same level adn have control of the same elements, were to battle one another, wouldn't Elements at that point be copletely useless since both players could continuously counter each other out?
PostPosted: Wed Aug 08, 2007 5:50 pm

Not necessarily. One player may have greater strategy than the other, and may have the ability to use their elements in ways that the other player never thought of. In such a case for two people of the same rank, creativity becomes the major deciding factor.

Well seeing as how there is a ank system and the higher ranks mean stronger characters then the one on one battle between a low rank and a high rank is pretty much decided already. I think the only way a low rank person would be able to kill a high rank is if there are multiple low ranks fighting the higher rank all at the same time.... but that's just me.
So your saying it wouldn't be possible for an E Rank to defeat oh say, an A or higher rank?

Not by themselves. A one on one fight of course the higher rank will win. But if it's say 5 E ranks vs. 1 A rank then I don't see why the A rank can't be defeated. If all five of them overwhelm the A rank, then they should be able to hurt him.

Ignoring Hira, because the matter was already settled, but thanks anyways.

Alright, but what if the other opponent sees the way in which their enemy is using their powers? Could one just as easily decide to outright copy their opponent's every move no matter what they do just to continually cancel them out?

Well, that's just bad role-playing.

Exactly. But not everyone out there is a good roleplayer, now are they? And some people do it when it's the only way they can save their character from a very nasty ending.

Although I've never seen something like that happen, I will agree that it's possible. They are technically not violating any rules. All they're doing is lacking creativity, and getting their opponent pissed off (OOC too probably).

If someone was on the receiving end of a copy-cat, then they can do one of two things:

1) Politely ask their opponent to be original
2) Ask a mod to step in and straighten things out

And thus you have failed Saiyan... and Thus you have failed...
Anyways, my questions are done now. There is no need to present any more abstract scenerios.

I think that signature moves are needed to avoid such things. From there on I think that asking the person to be original should be enough. That would definatly keep the person from copying another, and doing something with an element that they clearly didn't give themselves in their profile. If a person doesn't have signature moves but has an element, they should only be able to do what Vegeta described in the "elements" thread.
ex.
Vegeta describes those who use the nature element as being able to communicate with with animals and plant life. I go a step further with my character and give him the ability to change into an animal and fuse with plant life. If I were to battle with someone who also uses the nature element and they were to copy my character's transformation ability...well it wouldn't make much sense if they don't have it clearly stated in their profile. sweatdrop

I'm not seeing creativity as too much of a pressing issue. I've yet to witness someone role-playing with a lack of it. Also, I don't want to limit people to what I've described in the 'Elements' thread. Those are merely guidelines. From what I've seen, everyone in the guild has been reasonable with their elements so far.

I've had someone copy cat my techniques and it does get quite irritating. Most of the people who do it are new and when you ask them to be creative. They complain that they can't and just ignore your request and continue to copy. I've never copied, if my charater is getting their butt handed to them in a fight I accept defeat and move on. I just learn from the other players RPing and see how they win. And then develop my characters some more.
