Michael Sahl - Tango from the Exhiles

I'm so lucky to have stumbled upon this piece. It seems like such a rare gem - I've had hell trying to find a score for it, if one even exists.

I love it for so many reasons. The piece opens with a quiet, harmonically ambiguous melody, that seems to be lost and reaching out for something before coming to a rest. After a pause, the tango rhythm suddenly enters in the lower register of the piano - forceful and compelling, it establishes the tonal and rhythmic frame for the main theme. Basically, it becomes a dance of dissonance and chromaticism over unconventional but tonal progressions - something strange yet familiar, which makes it so refreshing and fun.

And at the beginning - only at the beginning, which is a shame - the pianist's left hand smashes the lower register with a fortissimo garble of notes about 3 times. BAM! Agh, I dreeeam of playing that part. It sounds so fun, haha.

Anna Nalick has such a wonder voice and her lyric writing is impressive.
More Than Melody (demo version) is another song I'm in love with. crying heart

Well, I've had this AMV running in the background for a while. I know the song is by Alice Cooper, but I don't know who is singing it. However, I am willing to bet their name is Groove Coverage.

Mmm... great video, though. Poor Karl.

Uh, I'm actually enjoying this.
I'm also a sucker for almost any remake of this song.

That's some real conversation for your a**!

I am listening to "The Painted Veil" by Alexandre Desplat.

I love him. His music is gorgeous, but it doesn't dictate exactly what you should be feeling while you're watching a movie. It creates an environment, but assumes the audience is intelligent enough to think for themselves.

I'm not into the dramatic John Williams style, though I think he's a genius. Kinda like how I can't stand Mozart, but also think he's a genius. And I don't like Nobuo Uematsu, but I respect him for making people realize that videogame music is a legitimate genre. And sure, he's a genius too.

"Good Luck and Good Bye." Duo's image song from the second Gundam Wing OST. Don't remember the VA's name.
