"Do you think a teenager should be jailed for cursing, especially when our vice president did the same thing on the floor of the U.S. Senate without repercussions?"
I think jail is too much, but if the kid is a repeat offender, then yes, but not thirty days.

xp Zetan We've changed the entire face of the planet in a fifth of a second in earth-movie time. Whether for better or worse, it's pretty damn amazing. Yea, it is. I wonder how long it will take man to change Mars in Mar's "movie time"...

Zetan Koukon_Tenshi Ugh, I hate these political calls... But I love making the person who calls uncomfortable...
The guy: Hello, I am Tom Marotte calling on the behalf of President Bush. Have you recieved your absantee ballot yet? Me: ... Nooooooo... The guy: Would you like to vote that way? Me: ....I cant even vote. Call back next election year. The guy: ... Oh... You should have thrown in a quick, "If I could, I'd be voting against Bush anyway," while you were at it. *Writes that down* xd

I think jail is too much, but if the kid is a repeat offender, then yes, but not thirty days. I think even one day is too much, even for a "repeat offender." These are just words we're talking about here. Whatever happened to freedom of speach? The only exception to freedom of speach is clear and present danger, like shouting "Fire!" in a movie theatre. How the heck does swearing present a clear and present danger? If that can't be answered, then the teenager's rights are being violated.

Heck, I take a half hour just for the shower. Then eating, and getting dressed while surfing the web (mostly posting on here) takes up another hour.

The type of "repeat offender" I'm thinking about is the voilent curser that makes other people uncomfortable with his or her actions. Personally, I don't think curse words mean anything, but to others it does.

I usually take a shower in the afternoon... I think it takes me maybe ten min. to get dressed and brush my teeth and hair... Then I take my meds and wait 20/30 min to eat. During that time I'm on the computer putting my shoes on... So I think it takes me 15 min to get ready, not counting the time I have to wait to eat...

The type of "repeat offender" I'm thinking about is the voilent curser that makes other people uncomfortable with his or her actions. Personally, I don't think curse words mean anything, but to others it does.I still disagree. I mean, making someone uncomfortable might be bad, but it certainly isn't a crime. Have you ever seen one of those super-enthusiastic religious people who are shouting at you to convert to whatever they're preaching, shouting that "The Lord is the only way of salvation!! If you don't accept the Lord, you will burn in Hell!" etc etc... Don't those people make you uncomfortable? If the only effect the cursing has is to make people uncomfortable, it should not be a crime. Unless, of course, you want to lock up all those street-preachers too. Oh, yeah, and protesters... they make people uncomfortable by using their freedom of speach as well. Would you lock any of these people up for what they do, even for a day? I know I wouldn't. Until it turns into actual violence, there is nothing wrong with swearing, no matter how violent. Diciplinary action by the school, such as detention, is one thing. Jail is completely and totally different.
