Gale gave a soft snort. "Let's just hope I don't pull a Mark and screw everything up," he said with a roll of his eyes. He winced slightly out of reflex at a stronger tug on the straps, and ran a hand over them almost automatically, glancing down at them.
His head shot up a second later, however, his eyes narrowing slightly at the latter part of Stormy's sentence. Gale's expression softened after a minute, however, and he reached out towards her, his fingers an inch from her hand.
"Stormy," he started to say, wanting to reassure her, but Nevada had just arrived, and the moment was lost. Gale dropped his hand with a small sigh, frustration in his mind as he rolled the dagger around between his fingers. He smiled wanly at Nevada (a barely visible flicker in his eyes was the only sign that he had noticed the bandages covering half of her face, Gale's calm expression never wavering) and at the girl next to her, lifting his free hand to give them both a small wave.
Her family. He wasn't sure if she was including him in that definition, but even if she wasn't, it was rather sweet. Gale's cheeks were slightly pink as he turned back to Stormy.
"Ready when you are, Watson."

"You won't," she said simply, "because you're not Mark. You're you." And at least in that declaration her smile wasn't hesitant.
Too bad her fingers still were sweaty, barely managing to brush his hand before Nevada's noise rose above the background din. Crap, pull it together, Stormy. "Oh! Hey, uh, hi--there. Hiya," she greeted in a slightly stilted fashion, realizing her bestie had brought someone along to chat. Okay don't think about that, don't think about that, concentrate. She managed a self-conscious smile at the moniker and wiggled her fingers at the pair before turning back to adjusting the launcher.
"R-Ready, Holmes. Right." She hadn't handled something like before, and all the runic lettering dazzled her. But the monster was large, so she couldn't possibly miss, right . . . ? Stormy pressed her arms to the machine to keep it steady. "Alright then, counting down. Three--two--one--to infinity and beyond."
She hit the switch and was immediately skewed to the left as the launcher, with a stronger effort than she imagined, threw Gale into the air far off from where she had aimed. One could almost see the horror physically coming over her like a pallor as the death hunter was sent hurtling not for the head, but for the tail, ignoring the protest of her arms.
Somehow the intensity of Jack's stare that she still wasn't aware of was throwing her off her game.

hi have another one to keep you updated on the dice woe
"Why the ******** not?" Rep replied, still on an adrenaline high that wouldn't quit. Mentally his Ace had to be in there somewhere, it was his body, and a minute ago, it had felt like his skills. It wasn't enough to bring the world back into focus, but it was a glimmer of hope in a very dismal and hopeless place.
He seized Harrison's chin firmly and stole a slow lingering kiss that soothed bittersweet emotions.
"Good luck." he said, and then rode the launcher up onto the tail of the beast once again, muscles slowly tiring out with the exercise, unable to drive the dagger quite as deeply this time around. Getting back down the zipwire was risky and precarious work, and when he felt the ground under his weak legs, he was glad of it. TOTAL DAMAGE = 21

The monster got smaller, but that was just relative. The thing was still towering above the walls, like some titan that was bent on destroying humanity. Oh wait, that's exactly what it was.
Mark and Lance gave commands, and Lex tuned out all but the important parts. Strap a guy in, fire him at the monster. Right, he could totally do that. Taking a breath to calm the panic and the lingering self doubt, the tall Lifer scanned the area for a Sun or Death.
Ah! There! Whistling, he started to hail a Sun he'd never seen before over. "Hey! You with the mask! Hey!" He waved him over, pointing to the straps and the archaic looking daggers. The meaning, he hoped, was obvious enough.

Cass laughed, putting an arm over his shoulder before holding her other hand up in offer of a shake. "Name's Cassandra, by the by. Maybe once portals are up and working I buy you lunch or something in celebration of not getting you killed via the first raid on the island?" she grinned.

'Hey, you with the mask'
Well, Solomon turned his head to look towards the source of the commotion anyways, brows lifting a bit before he patted Peyton's hand gently. "Looks like I'm being called on. I'll be right back, assuming I don't get eaten, yeah?" he jested as he made his way through the commotion towards the guy who had been motioning at him.
"Yeah. Sorry to just launch you without even introducing myself. Lex." He held out a hand, trying to be as polite as he could in the chaotic situation with the experimental tech that could quite possibly kill the man he was about to send sailing towards the monster. "If we survive this, I'll owe you coffee."
Without further ado, Lex handed Solomon a few of the daggers and began to strap him into the mechanism. One belt was securely fastened about his hips, the other around his shoulders. Wordlessly, he nodded to the masked man.
He stopped the lever mid-pull, noticing how off his aim was. "Sorry about this, need to aim you a bit better. More chances of survival and all."

There wasn't much else to do but converse, watch or help clean up - the latter two which Milo participated in when he realized that no, his chance of going up again wasn't possible. (Seemed Szczeosny managed to get out of a trip as well, shame.)
Noticing that Inoke was back on solid ground, after a nice display of vigor and badassey, he made his way over to the other guy with a wide grin on his face. "Wasn't so bad, right?" he chuckled, slapping a hand on Inoke's shoulder. Nevermind that he had almost lost his dinner or whatever, but things had settled after all.
Milo then turned to Cass and gave her a small salute kind of wave with his other hand, "Yo, howzit?"
"I did this stuff professionally at one point, pretty sure right now all I'm doing is the same thing I used to get paid better for." Solomon chucked, taking the hand and giving it a firm shake. "Solomon. I'll take you up on that coffee if I don't get eaten."
Hey now! We got first dibs! Yeah! First dibs!
Solomon chuckled a bit at the voices in his head - they were rather fun once he wasn't just getting a headache from them - double checking the knots as he was strapped in before relaxing a bit. Ohhhh this was gonna make his knee burn. Hopefully the painkillers would stifle that down a bit for him.
And then it was time to fly!
Sort of.
Maybe Solomon shouldn't have looked like he was enjoying just the whole 'soaring through the air' part of all of this.
It was really the landing what was causing the problem. Being on his feet wasn't bad, but Solomon could feel his legs just scream hatred at the force of his landing, gritting his teeth as he half stumbled on the things back while finding a place to sink these stupid blades into.
Seriously, where did one stab things like this?
If he was asked about it later, Solomon would totally claim he didn't half-a** it after he jabbed the two blades into the creature and quickly made motion to take that rope he was attached to back to the wall.
Kthnx.

"HAW, you're a short little guy," Chel said with a snorty sort of laugh. "Aw s**t that wasn't a good way to introduce myself."
Chel's nose wrinkled at Nevada's mention of "family." The word stank in her opinion, and she didn't have a fond connection to it. "Nice to meet the weather duo. Cute couple name." She flashed the two a smile, trying to win back any points she'd lost with the impromptu insult.
Chelsea was given a Look, and then Nevada an equally dry Look.
"And you have hair the color of someone who's had too much wine to drink," he said lightly, arching a brow before turning back to Stormy and giving her a nod.
Gale took a deep breath -
- and then he was airborne once more, flipping through the air with the wind whistling past his face in cold drifts. He swung about, trying to twist his landing, but Stormy's aim had been slightly off - Gale hit the tail of the creature with a sharp crash, his legs giving way beneath him as he rolled several feet before managing to stop himself. Climbing up several inches, he made an annoyed sound, rather like an angry cat, and gripped the dagger.
I bet Mark made this bloody contraption.
<< I wouldn't be surprised. >>
He stabbed the creature with force, grabbed the line, and zipped back to where Stormy was standing, crash landing a few feet away.

Nodding to Solomon as he returned, he gave the man a hearty pat on the back. "Good to see you back in once piece; I'll get you that coffee soon." He smiled, resetting the firing mechanism and preparing more daggers for his next victim partner.
Scanning the crowd again, a hunter with green hair stood out to the Lifer. "Hey! Green hair! Yeah, you! Ready to fly?" He called, waving him over much like he did Solomon. He almost enjoyed this.

"Whenever we can get off this island, yeah." Solomon agreed, giving the man a pat on the shoulder before he began to wander back to where he'd left Peyton to resume his post as a meat shield.
"I'm back. That didn' go as well in the stabbin' department as I'd hoped."
