I saw Scary Movie 4 gonk crying (less said about that the better!) and Silent Hill.

I really liked Silent Hill but it has had some really poor reviews. I think it will mainly appeal to people familiar with the games, I've heard mixed reviews from non-fans and fans alike though. I don't have much SH knowledge, but I love the style and feel of what I'd seen of the games. I think they captured it very well in that respect. People might have been expecting to jump out of their seats every 5 minutes, but I think it's more of a psychological horror. Sean Bean's character was a bit superfluous and tagged on. (I believe he actually was due to the original script having no major male characters!) and some of the dialogue was a little iffy.

Here in the UK it had a 15 certificate. I'm not sure how they managed that because it's pretty gorey and graphic!

I'm going to see Silent Hill tomorrow! I only played the first game, though.

I saw American Dreamz last night and it was awful. I still love Mandy Moore, though.

I saw Crash last night, finally. It was pretty good. There were some moments that were really heart wrenching and powerful. Then there were times where I was like meh. I did cry though. The emotion was so intense in certain scenes you just couldn't help it.

Now as far as it winning best picture, I don't know. To me, Brokeback Mountain was the better movie, and my drama teacher said that Capote was better than both. So who knows.

I obviously really liked Silent Hill.

If you want to read my thoughts, check my myspace blog.

Next on my list in the big theater is United 93.

Ohhhhhh... why below average? For the longest time, A Clockwork Orange was my favorite movie.

I suppose, because it was a disappointment on finally seeing the film properly when it was re-released in the UK after Kubrick's death. He had withdrawn it from distribution in the UK after copycat violence when it was first released, and I had seen it a couple of times on grainy, bootleg videos, on which it had looked fascinating and made me want to see the film as it was meant to be seen. In the intervening (long) period, I read the book, which I think is fantastic, and for me, the power of the book didn't come across in the film (sorry - the well-worn book vs. film debate rears its head again...) - although, admittedly, it would be well-nigh impossible to film that exactly! The film achieved a cult status, partly due to its unavailability, and for me, it didn't live up to expectations once it was finally released.

Last night I watched Saw 2 and thought it was pretty weak but the story was kinda clever. I would give it 2.5 stars (3 on Netflix).

I also saw Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and LOVED IT!

The Squid and The Whale was pretty good. Laura Linney was great as usual.

I caught the last 45 minutes of A New World, that one movie about Pocahantas. I must say I really liked what I saw. Now it is pretty slow, there isn't anything epic about it. But it's very character driven, and I like that. I might watch the whole thing later on tonight.

I really liked this movie, but two of my co-workers (big movie fans) LOVE this movie.

Alright saw the whole thing. One of the best movies I've seen this year. The cinematography was really pretty. I think I might buy it. The score, though there wasn't much to it, was really good, so I'll probably be purchasing that as well.
