The small liger looked up as she heard the sounds of another. A small rumble started in her chest, she didn't like having anyone nearby when she was listening to the water's stories.
Pushing herself to her paws, she decided she might as well find out who it was. Blaze slunk through the grass and river plants.

Nuri enjoyed the scents carried on the wind as it whipped through his mane. The dry and marsh grasses, the earth beneath, the dust kicked up by a small herd of prey beasts a distance off, the smell of their hides warmed by the sun... He hopped onto a rock that brought him over a lion's height off the ground and took a deep breath. Did he really miss wandering that much?
A faint stirring of the grass caught his attention. The sound was almost indecipherable, but the dark male's hearing was excellent. Crouching low, he listened to the sound of a small animal coming his way. Sniffing at the air, the only animals he could smell in the vicinity were that herd and lions. Was this too a lion?
He growled softly a warning. "Who's there?"

Blaze pushed out of the reeds and sat down, gazing up at the older lion. "This is my spot." One ear twitched, the flakes shaking.

"Yours...? You think so?" Nuri's shoulders relaxed as he sat upright and grinned at Blaze. "Well that's all right, I'm just passing through. I thought I'd patrol the ends of the territory for a while." He looked around. "Did you come out by yourself? That's dangerous, for a cub to go out alone."

Nuri watched her for a moment, curious. "True. You do have a point." He grinned again, though she had turned back toward the water. He hopped back down from the large boulder and hit the short grass beneath with a crackling thump. "Well, see you later," he said, and continued on his circling path.

Leanna came up near to the grasses, her tail slightly hanging more than usual. The lioness felt a bit ill, not sure as to what was happening to her. Her ears laid back in a lazy manner as her jaws hung upon slightly. The worst part: her belly felt like it was doing flip-flops inside of her. Taking in a deep breath to calm her nerves, she took in Blaze's scent and wondered what in the devil was her "child" doing way out here. Coming up on the cub, she chuffed quietly. "Blaze, hun, what in the world are you doing out here by yourself." She came over to the black liger and licked her head softly purring. "I thought I told you not to come out by yourself...it's too dangerous."

Blaze endured the lick with a ever patient expression. "I am fine, Momma." The little liger glanced around her hidden area. "I was listening to the water. He says it's safe here, no crocodiles or anything."

She gave her daughter a gentle smile. "What else does the river tell you?" Leanna looked out onto the river as it slowly rolled through the ground. It seemed to whisper to her words that she couldn't quite fathom. Her tail twitched slightly as she felt her stomach flip-flop again. Oh if the Gods wouldn't take her soon...

"It tells me about other lions, others like me." The black cub rested her head against the others shoulder. "And other prides and things that happen below."

Adelle got up after a good rest and got her portion of the food. She moved around Nola who had bedded down next to Akira. She could see good things for those two. The rest of the cave was still from resting lions and the small sounds of new cubs exploring their home. The king and queen must be very proud. I know I am proud of my daughter.
Adelle sat at the cave opening and looked into the sky. The clouds trailed across the blue expance and were shaped by the wind. "It is good to have a home."

Ling was still awake, hovering over the meat that was left on the corpse of the hunting team's killed. He took a few large bites off the food before taking off some smaller parts and bringing them over and setting them next to Xia. "Eat, my queen, eat and get stronger."
Ling then moved to the opening of the cave. He heard Adelle moving about and that delighted him. Ling looked to his cubs moving about near their mother and smiled. They were so helpless, darling, but helpless.
the young white and black cub moved away from his brother and sister, to stand alone in the darkness of the cave. He was small, so very small, but there was a strength to him, something in his aura that said that he would allways be strong, no matter what.

"Hello Ling. How is fatherhood treating you?" Adelle asked as Ling came to the cave mouth as well.

The king smiled at the older lioness. He nodded politely to her before taking a seat on the cold stone ground. "I would say well, but I have no idea what I am doing with them." He laughed and sighed. "I fear I will be a terrible father to them..."
The young kitten made his way over to his father, curling up at the king's front paws with a small yawn.

Adelle chuckled a little as she watched the little male at his father's feet. "Trust me Ling...if you love them and protect them then you will be the best father that they can ask for." She thought back to the last pride she was part of. "Just love them and care for them."
She looked at him with a somewhat sad look on her face. "Nola's father was a beast in the truist sence of the word. You dear Ling are the farthist."
