Boy, the telephone company isn't the greatest place to be with all this switchover to fiber optics. Still trying to find a niche...

Copper telephone lines require maintenance, a good deal of it, repair when damaged... Fiber isn't repaired, it's replaced, and it doesn't require the maintenance and tests that all these traditional copper land lines do. Maybe I could go somewhere rural...

Yes, but once it all is installed, I am out of work. Thus maintenace is ideal. Which doesn't exist with fiber. Fiber installers by the dozens have been getting laid off as we have finished upgrading from copper to fiber from county to county.

Ok, so the thing to do is seek out something that is like what you have learned, that involves skills you possess and try that. Or go to college for something else. Or both.
