"At least my sleeves won't be in the way and the silk get destroyed..." She sighed and shook her head as she looked down on her ridiculous clothes.
"Alright... I think that might just be best, can't walk around all day like this, right? Imagine how many people I would scare to death..." Yumi chuckled at the thought, then put her kimono back on and rushed back to the village.
Half an hour later she returned wearing a pair of baggy shorts and a baggy top... not exactly much prettier, but at least she didn't have to walk around in something not far away from underwear.
"Sorry about that... so where were we? Should I heat up the furnace again?" She threw her old kimono and her blades on an empty chair close to her.

Masamune nods slightly, sharpening a blade at the moment. "Hai...begin heating it up at that constant pace I told you about earlier. Once you get to it and can stand it, we'll progress farther."

They came back later, Akira was humming and skipping so she arrived at camp first. She skipped circles around Kashi then around the fire. Jade appeared and started to gather her things, packing up and having Akira help her put out the breakfast fire, "She caught a fish, that's why she's so ebuliant." Jade commented to Kashi, shouldering her pack as a sign she was ready.

Yumi continued pumping, once in a while wiping off a few sweat pearls. Finally the furnace had been heated up so much that she could barely stand next to it.
"And now?"

Masamune nodded in approval before speaking again. "Now, go get that piece of steel quickly, as well as a big pot. Put the pot on the fire, and then the steel in the pot. The steel will slowly begin to melt after a while into the pot. After all the impurities rise to the top, you must take them off with one of the tools, and then continue this process, making the furnace hotter each time. Eventually you will have a pure steel. Once that is done I will instruct you further."

((Waiii finally the new application!
Name: Kimiko Miu Age: 18-20 Side: Neutral (shinsengumi) Style of fighting: Specializes in long range fighting, she uses several different smaller throwing weapons (mainly needles, kunais and shurikens of different sizes). The needles are her most dangerous weapons, even though they’re small and not very strong. Because of her extremely good accuracy she can hit vital points on her opponents body, this along with a very good knowledge of human anatomy, makes it possible for her to in worst case permanently paralyze the target. The other advantage the needles have is that they’re surprisingly hard to notice, because of their size. Special abilities: Miu knows a lot about different poisons and potions because of her background. She is a very good healer with a lot of knowledge about the human body. Appearance: Long blonde hair, bright blue eyes and light skin. She usually hides her unusual hair and eye color under a huge straw hat. Clothing wise she usually wears a tight fitting top and some loose pants. Around her waist she has a belt with several pouches filled with potions and weapons. Needles she has hidden everywhere on her body, even in her hair and hat. Description: Miu is a very friendly and cheerful person. She loves helping other people in every possible way. Even though she loves having fun and usually doesn’t take anything too seriously, she can instantly change into a very dignified lady. At first glance Miu can seem rather unreliable, since she doesn’t do much more than fool around and laugh, but she also has a darker side to herself. This side often comes out if someone she cares for much is being threathened or she herself feels threathened. History: The Kimiko family has a long history of being talented healers. From a very young age Miu has been thaught everything about all kinds of different diseases, cures and poisons. She has also been thaught how to take care of the customers who come to visit the Kimiko family. At the family estate, situated in a green valley they run a spa and at the same time a small luxurious hospital for those with a bit more money in their pockets than usual. The History of team Halo: One day, when Miu was returning home from a very exhausting house call, where she had been forced to stay awake for more than two days and look after her patient, she had spotted a man falling down next to a tree. When she had rushed over she had noticed the man was unconscious. Well, this was at least what she thought, because she wasn’t exactly in her best condition she had made a small mistake, the man had actually only fallen asleep beneath that tree. Miu, had even managed to force the man to drink one of her revitalizing potions, which had some dreadful consequences. The man ended up puking through the whole night and had to stay at the Kimiko estate for a week to recover. Incredably embarrassed of her horrible mistake Miu took especially good care of the man during the week and got to know him very well. This was the beginning of their long friendship, since at the end of the week Miu decided to leave her family and follow the man. After the first mission, Miu decided to help him in the next one, then she just continued following him. In the end they both noticed how useful they found each other and the team Halo had been formed. After nearly alone helping the Shinsengumi win a huge fight close to Kyoto the couple got a nearly legendary status. With the help of Miu’s medical skills, she managed to keep enough men alive to win the fight, while the man kept Miu alive by killing every man who came even close. When the battle was finally over, the dead bodies had formed a prefect half circle around the man while the half dead Shinsengumi members Miu had been taking care of had formed another perfect half circle. The Shinsengumi commanders with a back-up army who had arrived way too late to the battle field had found the two exhausted fighters in the middle of a halo of dead or nearly dead warriors.

((And this'd be my application. It's not that great, but, eh.
Name: Yoshikuni, Kazuma
Age: 25
Side: Shinsengumi
Style of Fighting: Kazuma's main form of attack and defense is iaijutsu: The art of killing on the draw. The reasons are not just limited to the fact that his master mostly taught just iaijutsu, but that his philosophy is that a quick end to a fight is the most efficient one. His iaijutsu is, at the very least, quite good.
Special Abilities: Kazuma has excellent control over his sword, which is to be expected from someone who employs iaijutsu as their main attack form. His speed, at least in his arms, is above average, once again, complimenting his iaijutsu. His speed is from the hours a week he would spend, weights on his arms as he practiced form. His Blade control is the result of his training, though this is less extraordinary, and more as a by-product of his iaijutsu training.
Appearance: Kazuma stands at about 5'10, which is above average, or at least he likes to think so. His hair is Dark Black, long and loose, and tied off in the back. His eyes are a nice jade green color. He wears a Light Green Yakuta, which compliment his eyes, or at least he thinks so. His sword hangs on his left side, because of his right hand being his drawing hand. The Handle is wrapped in a white cloth, and the sheath has a design of Sakura flowers running down the length of it. He wears light wooden sandals. He's rather fair-skinned, though his hands bear the callouses of gripping the handle of a sword all day long.
Personality: Kazuma is, in a word, rather easy going. Well, that's three words, but whatever. His Lazy attitude tends to throw other people off guard as to his skills, and he's rebutted many a young, eager swordsman in his day. Still, when it comes down to it, Kazuma is nothing but serious at any task at hand. Nor does he lack responsibility in any situation when he is asked to lend a hand, or when he owes someone something.
Description: Being that Kazuma is..to put it nicely, easy going, he likes to sleep. A lot. In fact, it's not odd at all to see him passed out under a tree on the side of the road. He was born in Edo, and since there weren't any trees inside town, if he wasn't going to be home for a little bit, he had more than once just fallen asleep in a back alley. Despite him falling asleep all the time, he lived in a fairly prosperous home. Each member of his family each had their own beds to sleep in, and were always rather well fed.
History: Kazuma was born in Edo, and born into a rather wealthy family. Not really wealthy, you know, but better than average. Despite the wealthyness of his family, both of his parents were very strict and traditional japanese parents. Being raised as such is part of why he joined the Shinsengumi. He adored the morals and values instilled in his people by the older generations and thought they were the proper way, and that Japan should continue with these values, like they had for years. Plus, the Shinsengumi seemed to be a much nicer side to join, in his opinion.
One day Kazuma's soon-to-be master was walking down a path when he saw a small boy standing infront of a small dog, which had been cruelly beaten by a gang of child bullies. His only defense was a somewhat thick stick, which he held at his side. When his master went to step in, the first bully charged, only for Kazuma to quickly whip the stick from his side and squarely into the bully's forehead, causing him to flop backwards. The rest of the bullies ran, and the master approached Kazuma, offering to train him. Kazuma happily accepted, though he later had figured out the master would not have taken a no for an answer either way. From the age of fifteen kazuma devoted himself wholy into his art. For seven long years he slowly worked and worked, his speed and control of the blade, slowly growing, his skill outweighing that of even the students who had been there quite a bit longer than himself. At the age of twenty-two Kazuma killed his own master. Not out of rage, nor out of anger, or greed. Through his years of study, Kazuma had slowly become more than his master was. He realized that this was the natural order of things. The stronger kill the weaker. The student must kill the master. He knew he didn't have a place in the school anymore, though. With one final swing of his blade, he swung the blood from it, it splattering against the ground. The ground he had spent so many days, so many months, years on..sheathing his sword, he left, and joined the Shinsengumi. He was now the best in his field. In Iaijutsu, he was unmatched.
The History of team Halo: One day, when Miu was returning home from a very exhausting house call, where she had been forced to stay awake for more than two days and look after her patient, she had spotted a man falling down next to a tree. When she had rushed over she had noticed the man was unconscious. Kashi smiled down at his new work. The girl Akira was sitting wide-eyed by, Jade on the ground barely breathing. Kashi had just cut her badly. "If you can get up, follow us...that will show me your strength." Kashi turned, cleaned his blade and began off. "Akira! Come." Akira, still wide eyed and a bit blurry eyed as well ran after Kashi, and clung to him, watching as Jade tried to speak through her cut vocal cords. She would die soon...slowly, and painfully.

Completely and utterly bored Yumi lazily did what Masamune had told her to do. Her movements were almost mechanical as she continued with her not too interesting task.
"Masamune... could you perhaps amuse me by telling me a storie? Tell me a little more about this island!" She turned slightly so that she could see Masamune while she was heating up the furnace once again.
Somewhere beneath the big tree a girl sat whistling. She seemed to be waiting for someone or something. Restlessly she played with a few needles. There was a road not far away from the tree, but noone could be seen. In the shade of the tree the girl started humming, then singing. It sounded like a tragic lullaby, but the girl didn't seem to care much about what she was singing, it was more the sound of her own voice that amused her. Further down on the empty road a dust cloud approached. The girl abruptly stopped singing and yawned.
"Kazumaaaa... Kazumaaaa... they're here already."

A young man laid against the very same tree, his head resting against the base of it. His Green Yakuta blew slightly in the wind, strands of his dark black hair lazily flopping down over his shut eyelids. He drifted uneasily in and out of conciousness. Partially because his head was resting against the rough tree bark, and partially because he was vaguely paying attention to his companion's singing. At the sound of her stopping, and her addressing him, he popped one eye open, looking over at her with one eye.
"Ehh..Who's here? Let's go back to sleep.." He rolled over slightly, shutting his eyes again, his sword's sheath clinking noisily as it tapped the rough ground.

Kashi left the woman Jade behind to die. She would die slowly, crying and in pain beyond her wildest imagination. Kashi looked down at the girl now clinging to him. "Now you know Akira. You will follow my every instruction, and you will be loved and treated well by me...know that now. We will build an empire, and be known throughout the land..." Kashi walked along the road, the city where he would begin his uprising...little did he know the surprises that awaited him at Tokyo...
Masamune looked at Yumi and then at the door. "This island has been around for a long, long time, but there were 10 men, who came, and finding women with skills in swords and sword making, began making an island of those devoted to the sword in whatever way. The masters from the ten main styles came and made there mark here...these men passed their swords down to ten others. Those ten have been dubbed 'Juukonouenai-kenkaku' Literally translating out to 'The ten greatest swordsmen.' They left us, and began to spread out and fight for what they wanted. Each knew the rest, and dared not to cross blades with them...after all, who wanted to try and fight those that were like they, the best. Those ten are now out there somewhere, and at the moment, our small island is teaching the next generation our ways, and how to become great. They have been bred to be the best, and so they will be just that...the best."
Sakura sat in the tree, and then sat up slowly. He tossed a dart at Masamune's shop and then was gone. The note read, 'Masamune, take care of Yumi for me...I feel a disturbance back at the mainland. I should go check into it I think...or maybe it isn't the best idea...but I will be gone for a while...teach her well.' Sakura was off, to go and find out what he felt, and why he felt it.

"How interesting... so you're saying you have no idea where the rest of these swordsmen are? Could they still be alive?" Her curiosity had made her more energetic than before and she quickly cleaned away the impurities with the tool Masamune had pointed out. A sweatpearl ran down her cheek, but she didn't bother to wipe it off, by now she was already getting used to all the sweating.
The silent thick when the dart hit the wall made Yumi jump slightly. She didn't say anything, but her glance clearly showed he should go check it out immediately... and if possible, tell her what it was.
"It's a man it's a man... someone... alive!! He's coming in our direction." It really wasn't anything to get too exited over, since she clearly didn't even know the man, but this was just the way Miu always was, overly energetic.
"Should we talk to him? But the messenger hasn't arrived yet... weren't we waiting for a messenger who was supposed to give us our next mission? Do we even know this messenger? Have we seen him before? What if he's the messenger?" She walked around in a circle, herself driving up a dust cloud, which unluckily enough covered the young man in dust. As usual Miu didn't notice this, neither did she notice how much easier it was for the approaching man to see her now.

Kazuma sat up slowly, grunting slightly. Placing one hand on his neck, he cracked it loudly, then rolled it around his shoulders, his bones had become stiff from laying against the tree, his head cocked at such an extreme angle. "An Alive man, as opposed to a dead woman? How interesting." He chuckled to himself, smiling as he slid his hands into his sleeves. "I know you're just a kid, but really..maybe you should calm down some.."
He uncross his legs and pulled his arms out of his sleeves, pushing himself to a standing position. He dusted himself off, and looked down the road. "Maybe..we'll wait till he gets here. If he addresses us, then he surely is the one we're waiting for. Otherwise..he's just an ordinary fellow, and we shall not trouble him. You never know these days.." Sighing slightly, he waited.
