Martin was glad to see Mela, but when he figured out that the two kids behind her were following...
"Uhh, Mela? What are they doing here?" He glanced at them again, and sighed. More stuff to think about. This was going to be a quick raid. Just get in there, sneak around, get his amulet back, then leave. A full raid would be done after his primary mission was done. "Okay, We'll deal with them later. I want you, Mela, to get in here and see if you can work your magic there." He was pointing to an elevator which just opened next to him, completely empty. He walked in a held the Door Open button. I'm not sure what it is, but I know it's here."

Trevor was walking down the streets of Chicago. These were the streets he knew well. He knew which streets were safe and which weren't. He knew where to go to get what you want.
He turned a corner to end up on a crowded, noisy street filled with young men in collared shirts and young women in slutty dresses. Rush Street.
Rush Street was one of the few streets of Chicago that hadn't changed much over the years. It was still simply a long stretch of nightclubs and bars. It was still filled with alcohol and strippers. But Trevor wasn't interested in debauchery tonight. He was simply hungry. He knew it would not be long before... THERE!
Just in front of him, a man was being thrown out of a nightclub. The man seemed to be in his 30s, which is a little old for the usual nightclub crowd. As the man was thrown out, he stumbled and fell on the ground before proceeding to swear at the bouncers in a garbled manner. He still had a bottle of beer in his hands. Yes, he would do nicely, Trevor thought. But not here. There were too many people here. Trevor would have to follow the man until he is in an emptier place.
The man got up and began wandering aimlessly, still drinking his beer. He stumbled many times and kept rambling in his garbled speech. Finally, he passed out in an empty corner. This is too easy, thought Trevor. He went up to the man and took his wallet. Looking inside, he found.. NOTHING. The wallet was completely empty except for a picture of the man's family. The man had a wife and two very young daughters.
Trevor threw the wallet back down in anger. He would have to try again, if he wanted to eat tonight.
((Yeah, it's not very exciting. But it builds character. And sorry if this is a little too mature, I'm simply trying to introduce Trevor's character in the best way I can. Nothing actually happened, right?))

Gaian Name: Garrin Character Name: Ciel Gantz Age: 124 (the equivalent physically of someone between the ages of 12-16 on Earth in general terms, and appears as such, however, his actions reveal that he is older than he appears, at least by human standards) Appearance: CielPowers/Special Abilities: Free control manipulation of water in all of its phases (meaning he can freeze, melt, evaporate, and condense it at will in addition to basic manipulation). A bit of basic water and arcane magic. How He/She Got These Powers: Ciel is a being of what is known for the most part as the Plane of Elemental Magic, so named because nearly every one of its denizens is capable of some form of elemental manipulation. This is a misnomer, however, as this power is more innate than magical. The general populous is still capable of magic, of course, but only through years of rigorous study, whereas the ability to manipulate elements is there from birth (further reinforced be the fact that magic seals cannot seal off this ability (although certain seals can weaken it slightly. Though no one knows where this innate ability comes from, there are several theories that there is some source of magic that led to the development of the ability, but since the magic was indirect, is thus unable to be completely sealed). Brief Bio: The Plane of Elemental Magic is on good terms with Lascia, so through interdimensional contact, news travels fast, and there were plenty who were glad to help the Lascians search. Ciel is not one of those people. Granted, he'd be of some help should the need arise, but his main reason for coming out in this mad search is, being himself a rather curious individual, he wishes to see these strange occurances for himself. Other: He carries a strange gem on his person. It seems to serve some sort of purpose, but most people would not know what this purpose is...

It didn't take long forthings to start happening. Upon the news that a train had been hijacked, the city police swung into high gear.Soon the tracks ahead ofg the train were blocked, and several police and SWAT units were dispacted. As the train rounded a bend, Pheonix, in the cab, saw the obstruction. He pulled the throttled lever back, but the train didn't slow down much. Seeing that, he shrugged and threw up a barrier around the front of the train. It smashed through the obstruction at full speed, the barrier protecting it from any debris. As police and news helicopters flew overhead, he figured that things were not going so well for them.
Abandoning the cab, he made his way back to the car where his team was. "I think its time we got off this train." The doors had been jammed open since the initail problem regaurding tickets, so the demons just hopped out, one by one. They discovered that hopping out of a moving train was not the best idea. There were a couple of injuries, none of them too severe, but not minor either.
On top of that, some of the helecopters were now circling them, and the police were rushing towards them, screaming something incomprehensible. "Actually, I think its time we made a discreet exit." He yanked on the cord, and ascended up into the gate. His team did the same, disspaering righ before the eyes of the police. The news helicopter got a good angle shot on it too, but they didn't quite believe it. Since this was a major news event, it was being brodcast live, so most of the city, if not the country, saw five men hop off a train, levitate, and dissaper into thin air. It was sure to be the headline story of the New York Times, but of course, the demons wouldn't know anything about that.

((AAAAAHHHHHHHH, I'm so sorry - I can't believe I did that again. >____< Nonetheless, thank you for adding it for me. And no, you didn't overstep any boundaries... Thanks, Kumar. ^^
OH, and welcome to the rp, Garrin!! biggrin ))
Mela went forth into the elevator, as the small snow-white cat climbed up on Molly's shoulder, waiting for her to follow. Following the tingling trail of magic, it was easy for Mela to find the barrier. She took a heavy breath. "You can tell that they put some effort into it... But the mediocrity of this spell is just SAD." This couldn't be their only layer of defense for sure... There had to be more than this.
Nonetheless, she held up her hand and began working her magic. Within five minutes, she brought the barrier down, though she was a bit wary as to what else would be past this area....

Garrin ((thankee... so what currently goes on IC and where is everyone, etcetera, etcetera...)) ((Well, Pheonix and a few other demons from an evil demension hijacked a New York Subway and caused massive amounts of chaos before returning to their own demension. Mela and Martin are preparing to raid a pirate hideout, two others are hanging out with them, and I think everyone else is just sort of wandering around. Now, if you'll excuse me, Pheonix and his team of baddies needs to cause some more havoc.)) *Pheonix and his team dropped into another city, this one a little more south than the previous one. They landed near a river running through the center of town. This time, they'd brought some human weapons, mainly swords and daggars. They wore these openly, not really caring if the population noticed or not. One of the demons, brought along for his sensitivity to magic, pointed to a white spire in the distance.* I sense magicl energy coming from that direction. *Pheonix nodded and they began walking through the city in the direction of the white tower.* ((Anyone what to hazard a guess as to where they are? And why walking around with swords and knives openly displayed might be a problem? Well, more of a problem, at least.))

When Mela brought down the magical barrier, Edgar thought he saw a bright flash. "Huh, that was pretty." But it was time to concentrate, he didn't know how he could help. But this was getting to interesting to just stay here and do nothing. "Well, we best get moving, times against you if you want to keep it quick and quiet."

What on earth have I gotten myself into? Did I just step into some science fiction book? This is insane. At least I have a cat...on my shoulder. Do cats normally do that? Should I even care about normal anymore? Normal should be redefined. Fine. This is all normal, no matter how skewed a definition that would be. Molly pet the cat on her shoulder, hoping that she wouldn't break down or have a panic attack.

((Well, judging by some of the recent posts, I take it most people are in a city of some sort?))
"Mmm..." Ciel mused aloud, looking around. So this was the supposedly "boring" dimension, eh? What th' heck were people talking about!? Look at all this weird stuff! ... Of course, he had never actually seen a city of this magnitude before, so perhaps his enthusiasm was a bit excessive... still, he had to check this place out...

Pheonix and his team were closing in on the magical signature when a vehichle pulled up beside them, and more uniformed people came out. "Freeze! Don't move!" The group turned to look at the men, who were pointing those objects at them again. "You know, the people who wear those clothes are becoming a real problem. Lets get rid of them." He charged a Darkbomb and hurled it at the police cruiser, which burst into flames. The uniformed men began firing back. The demons were caught off guard, and quickly fell to the gunfire. But as the police moved in to make the arrest, they recovered their senses. Those that could still move drew their knives and/or swords, and counterattacked. They made short work of the police, but more of their vehichles were on the way. Pheonix, the translator, and the magic sensitive were still able to move, so they grabbed the strange human weapons and took off. The other two pulled on their cords and went back through the gate.

Trevor was now walking down quieter Chicago streets, cursing his luck. He was hungry and tired. It was very dark where he was now. Once in a while, cars darted by on the streets, their bright headlights momentarily lighting up the roads.
Suddenly, as Trevor passed a small alley, a voice cut through the darkness. "Hey!" Trevor immediately realized who it was. "Hey! Hey, that you, Trevor? Come fight me, street boy! Come fight me!"
Trevor started running away as quickly and quietly as he could. But it was too late. Before he got far, a hand reached up and grabbed him by the shirt collar. Before he knew it, he was lying flat on his back, breathing hard. Five men immediately surrounded him. They started laughing, belittling him. Trevor looked up and faintly saw the face of their leader.
Bryan Crux. The man who has had bad blood with Trevor since Trevor had saved the life of a man Bryan was mugging. That was a very long time ago. Bryan was by himself then, and Trevor was still trying to make an honest living back then. Trevor had defended the innocent man by beating Bryan off. But now, Trevor himself was often doing much the same thing that he had stopped Bryan from doing so many years ago. And now, Bryan traveled with his group of similar criminals. Trevor had run into him a number of times during the few years since their initial encounter, and had managed to survive through each of them.
A swift kick to the stomach brought Bryan back to attention. "What now, street boy? What you gonna do now?"

((Well, apparently someone's in Chicago... is that where the rest of you are, too? In any case...))
And now he was in the city, looking around every corner and down every alley... he was like a kid in a candy store... only he wasn't actually a kid... although by earth standards he did technically look like one... which would be a pain in the arse to deal with later, little did he know...
Meanwhile, back in reality, he had just come across what appeared to be a group of strange people beating up on another strange person. Now, he wasn't quite familiar with the ways and customs of this world, but somehow, this didn't quite seem right... Of course, looking like a kid, he probably wouldn't be deemed as much of a threat by anyone, and thus not attract much attention... although he was dressed just a bit oddly for Earth... really, the main concern was whether or not he should interfere...

QUickly, Mela handed them each a small brightly-colored glass ball (much like an ornament)"Put these on and follow close behind me. This should make us stay unessen and unnoticed for about three minutes. We'll need t to find Martin's object and be out by then... And don't make any noise." Whispered Mela as she stepped through the doorway. Around them seemed to be the most.... ordinary workroom in the history of the world. Cubicles stretched out as people busily and quietly walked from one side of the room to the other, holding documents and a bored expression on their faces.
"Darnit, I can't believe I missed this barrier." Waving her hands and casting the spell again, the facade melted, revealing a huuuuuuuge area in front of them (much huger than the building itself could ever hold). The room was lit by lanterns and floating lights as the sound of ragged guffaws of laughter reached their ears. Smells of rum and body odor plagued their noses as they became immediately lost in the tangle of very cliched-ly garbed pirates. Really, it was everything an earth cliche would describe a pirate - and a pirate hideout - to be. o___o Inhaling deeply, Mela motioned for them to follow as she stepped into the wooden room, being extra careful not to bump into anybody as she went.
