A Quick Overview of the Universe and Prelude to the Plot

To put simply, the universe has many dimensions (1,553 counted so far, to be exact), containing whole solar systems and worlds inside. For instance, the particular dimension we live in (including Earth and all the solar systems) is known to others as Dimension A-53. With its lack of magical properties, A-53 is known as one of the most mundane dimensions in the universe, and is scarcely thought of (hence the extremely boring, mundane name).

The dimension that is to soon completely change the world we know of today is known as Lascia Ch'io Pianga.

Judging by their spiffier name, Lascia is one of the more prominent, diverse, and magical dimensions. Holding multifarious species that only this world knows through fairy tales, it is held in high regard throughout the universe. Some of the most magical and powerful creatures reside there. And the most powerful of them all is a wizard named Mortimer Motts. He ruled most of the world of Lascia, keeping great order, balance, and peace for hundreds of years. In fact, they were to celebrate their 700th year of peace by throwing a huge festival unlike anything ever seen in the universe. But that was the day they realized their great leader, Mortimer Motts, was missing.

There have been many searches from dimension to dimension, but to no avail. Before anybody knew it, three months had passed in the absence of their precious leader - and the balance of Lascia was already going awry. A force was already beginning to rise to take over the seat of Mortimer, as long-held alliances were becoming strained.

Then someone discovered a trace of his power emerging from an unlikely place. Dimension A-53, Earth. What was disturbing was that the trace of his power didn't come from just one source on Earth, but multiple sources - as it the wizard had multiplied himself and started casting spells at once.

And investigative team was sent away immediately to find him. What they began discovering then was that his power did not come from Mortimer himself. No, instead, somehow, the humans were harnessing magic only Mortimer himself knows....

With no further trace of Mortimer, and the potential of war hot on Lascia's necks, they have come to a single desperate conclusion: to find and collect all those containing Mortimer's power and transfer him or her to the throne. Pretty far-fetched, huh?? ~_^ Well, with the absence of their ruler (and no further person to succeed to leadership), they've found no other option. The investigative squad thus decides to find the said humans, perhaps help them harness and control their new powers, and observe them to find which one would be best suited for Lascia. Of course, not everyone in Lascia agrees on this prospect. Beings from Lascia, and even beings from other dimensions, have turned their sights onto A-53 and have set out to destroy those that hold Mortimer's legacy.

What was once the afterthought of the universe has become the most crucial dimension ever, as it holds the fate of Lascia as we know it.

((kk, I added the last bit to it. Hope that works alright. ^^;; ))

Quote:

Gaian Name: Duke 2.0 of course!
Character Name: Ko (Thats right, no last name!)
Age: 34 (AND he has a kid. So much for young people.)
Appearance: Large. Wait, no. Large does not cut it. Huge. Although that seems a little large. Imagine somebody about two head taller than your parents. Yeah. ow picture them with large shoulders with beefy arms stretched with sinew and tendons. Tanned skin all around, like he gained his strength from working in a desert hauling around large metal disks. His clothing leaves much to be desired: threadbare leather plate armor covering his naughty bits, chest, and little else. The only exception is a large cape made from what appears to be the hide of a gigantic badger. It only reaches his knees, and can't reach the front of his body around his arms. His face is square-jawed, with what appears to be the skull of some fearsome beast on his head like a helm. On his arms are large fighting gloves made of rope, with tar fixing metal studs to it. On his back is a battlesword, too large for anybody else to lift in any threatening way.
Powers/Special Abilities: He's strong. Of course, there is an extra twist to it. While his body is naturally strong he knows tricks of the body that can gain even more strength. He can also regenerate wounds, but this is somewhat limited.
How He/She Got These Powers: Tradition. Culture. His ancestors first discovered the art of manipulating their bodies a long time ago. Some even say that some great magical being created them, teaching them the first arts of the body. Because of his race being somewhat isolated from the rest of the dimension, this art is new to the world.
Brief Bio: The island where his race lives is small compared to the rest of the world. Most anybody traveling there from the sea just find steeps seaside cliffs and beaches leading into an endless desert. Yet there is one place that is different on their northern coast. A bay with three rivers leading to it. The western one leads to the tribe that Ko is from. The middle one leads to the ruins of a long-lost civilization. The eastern one goes beside a great jungle with undergrowth too thick for anybody to live in.
Ko was not a particularly spectacular member of his tribe. There were stronger, faster and smarter members in the tribe. But when strange people from the sea finally discovered them, their leader sent Ko to find out more about them. Apparently, Mortimer Motts wanted to befriend the tribes of this island. So Ko traveled with the ocean people on their boat, as a representative of his tribe. He was given a large weapon as a gift, but he had not clue how to use it. His kind only use their bodies as weapons on the fierce wildlife of his island.
So he was on his way to this festival, a show of this rulers might. But where was the leader to be found?
Other: He may have a large weapon, but he has no clue how to use it. He has fists, which he knows how to use with deadly efficiency. His speech is a little more restricted than others, but he has always lived in a tribal atmosphere. Reading and speech was never a big thing. He also uses air to cause strength boosts, so if he can't breathe in, his strength is sapped.

Gaian Name: Watagashi
Character Name: Mela Welsch
Age: 235 (but she looks about 23 o.O)
Appearance: No one knows her real height, as she is always seen in different pairs of dangerously long and pointy high heels. Other than that, her choice in clothing is similar to that of an 18th century gentleman, with a coattail, ruffles, tights, gloves, and even a top hat. Her wavy black hair is delicately tied into a ponytail behind her, and she is well known for her almost-glowing emerald eyes.
Powers/Special Abilities: She has the basic powers of any regular witch from Lascia, though they seem more similar to Earth's idea of a witch. She can ride on broomsticks (or mops, vacuums, hockey sticks - whichever's available =__=) , mix potions, and cast mediocre spells. Also, she contains super-organization skills, though it is doubted that that is a special ability at all.
How He/She Got These Powers: Mortimer had bestowed upon her the knowledge and power of a witch while she was employed under him.
Brief Bio: (Gonna make this quick) Mela had been Mortimer's personal secretary for 75 years up until his disappearance. Devastated that such a close friend (and paycheck) had vanished without a trace, Mela jumped at the opportunity when the people of Lascia reported having found traces of Mortimer on A-53. Although it was forbidden for anyone other than the Investigative Team to go, Mela sped forth to Earth, hoping to personally find her friend and benefactor.
Other: She hates cats. >.>

Quote:
Gaian Name: Mathai
Character Name: Edgar (Right now, anyway)
Age: Thinks he's about 22 (Alot older)
Appearance: Edgar looks to be a common late teen, early twenty year old man. While he is fit, he isn't overly strong or athletic. The only thing about him that would make him stand out is if someone were to look into his eyes. Which would seem to be endlessly deep and thoughtfull. If someone were to look long enough, they could swear that there was a flicker of light within them.Serious, but nice
Powers/Special Abilities: Control over all kinds of energy. Eternality (Like Immortality, but can still be killed) But he doesn't know he has either
How He/She Got These Powers: His race naturally had a connection to the flows of energy around them. But he didn't recieve actual control over energy or his Eternality until the accident that killed his people while he was in transit between his world and Earth.
Brief Bio: Edgar is the last known survivor of the ancient Atlanteans. One of the first races to discover interdimensional travel thanks to their inate ability to control the flows of power and energy. He was just a common person on his way to to work at their colony on Earth when something unkown to him caused a massive surge of power, killing all other Atlanteans as far as he could tell. But since he was in the space between dimensions when it flowed through the gate to Earth, he instead gained Eternality and a grerat deal more control over his race's gift. He has since gone through the millenia, trying to help humans while not ruling directly.

For reasons unkown to anyone but him, he has periodically through the ages, sealed away his memory, letting himself rediscover his potential while living as a common man. Which is how he has been for the last 4 years. Taking the name of Edgar, he has recently entered college. He is quite intelligent, and a little quiet. But any of the students who got to know him realise that he is a very kind young man who always tries to do the right thing by his standards.
Other: Having no memory of his entire life before four years ago, he will have only an instinctual control over his power at first. Because he also gives off various energies, it would seem to the scanners looking for M.M. that he has a portion of his power and would therefore be a target.

Quote:
Gaian Name: Duke 2.0
Character Name: Martin Henesy
Age: 28
Appearance: Medium size and build, he is muscular and usually has his brown hair slicked back. He often changes his clothes, but the only common thing he wears is some form of cape or cloak. The only real defining features are two large metal bracers covering his arms. Five inches thick and covering his entire lower arms, metal gloves with finger holes covering his hands. Despite the size and weight of these things, he carries them around like they are half their weight.
Powers/Special Abilities: Master of Hand-to-Hand combat. Can detect magic.
How He/She Got These Powers: He trained for years of his youth to master Hand-to-Hand. He carries a pearl amulet to detect magic and help see what that magic is.
Brief Bio: His parents lived in a backwater world where building up ones own strength was more important than weapons. If you were more skilled than anybody trying to rob you(And there were plenty), it didn't matter what weapon they had. One day around the age of 20, he was offered a very good job in another universe. His parents had long since moved to a Universe of ice and snow(Because they wanted to live in a world in stark contrast to their desert one), so there was no reason to stay in his own.
So thats how he joined the kings guard. This force was mainly comprised of the best of the best. The best Destructive magic caster, the best in Armor, the best in healing magic, the best in long-bladed fighting, everything. They were all stationed around the kings palace at all times. Of course, with the king missing they were thrown to the vast network of universes to find him. But a trick was played on them all.
During their searches, the all came across an item that could help them. The magic-casters found amulets robes and hoods that made their spells better. The fighters found armor and weapons that made them stronger, and the sneaky archer's found quivers that never ran out and leather armor hard as steel. Every one of them worse these enchanted items, all of them activating their curses.
You see, some evil wanted to eliminate the guard. So they made cursed items these guard would use. In Martin's case, it was a pair of gauntlets that were lighter than steel and made him vastly stronger. However, he could not take them off. He was skilled in hitting nerves in people bodies to cripple them, but that was impossible with the bulky gauntlets.
It was then the guard heard about the possibility of the king being on this world. They all went, but they had little idea how they could help. Their greatest strength was now their weakness.
Other: His amulet was given to him by the officials in charge of the portal. It was made to help him search for the king.

Quote:
Gaian Name: Zephyrus Æther (technically it's Aether, since Gaia is mean, but I'm still the same old Zeff)
Character Name: Molly Harris
Age: 20
Appearance: An unremarkable girl, Molly looks about as mundane as you can get. She has short, mousy brown hair that is usually in a style vaguely reminiscent of a pile of scattered hay. Her eyes are average, and a greyish color. Her face is very average, as is her body and build. She blends in with crowds effortlessly. She typically wears a skirt, a button-up shirt, and a sweater, but this varies with weather and occasion. She rarely wears trousers.
Powers/Special Abilities: Kinetic powers and manipulation of gravitational fields and their strengths.
How He/She Got These Powers: By complete accident. She's still trying to tell herself that she's insane and they don't really exist.
Brief Bio: Molly was a homebirth. In fact, she was a breech birth, something that she has attributed most of her abnormalities to. She grew up in a loving family as an only child. She was intelligent, though shy. She went to college for a year an a half before dropping out to pursue a career as an intern at a radio station. Finding that she was to shy to be near "show business", she took up a job at a library.
Other: She has a cat and a minimalist (due to budget) apartment in a rather louche part of town. Molly enjoys opera and clean, white furniture.

Quote:

Gaian Name: High_Assassin
Character Name: Dark Lord Pheonix
Age: well over 25,000
Appearance: Normally a tall man with long black hair, wearing clothes of black silk. However, he does have transformational abilities.
Powers/Special Abilities: Uses concentrated forms of Demonic energy in beams, bombs, and barriers. He can also transform into either a shadow, or a bird of fire. He also uses claws of dark energy called the Reapers of Darkness, which can drain magica/abnormal power, or simply slice someone apart.
How He/She Got These Powers: He was born with unique abilities due to his demon heritage.
Brief Bio: Coming from Hellsguard, one of the few dimensions where evil holds full sway, Pheonix is a powerful warrior and leader of a small demon tribe. Normally, Hellsgaurd and all other dimensions like it were tightly sealed off from the rest of the universe, but the gates there had been opened by the Investigation team in search of Mortimer. Though the team denied it, many of the evil creatures escaped, and though the main gates were re-sealed, other gates were opened. The inhabitents managed to capture a pirate gate, and began building copies. The evil that had once been safely contained was now loosed on the rest of reality. Once Pheonix learned of mortimers dissaperance, he set out in search of the wizard. Through exceedingly cruel methods, including kidnapping and torture, he learned of the abnormalties in dimension A-53. A gate was quickly built on Hellsguard leading to that demension, and Pheonix set out with a small team. Thier mission. Find and kill Mortimer, so that the entiere universe would fall to the overwhelming tide of evil now pouring out of his home.
Other: He is arrogant and smartmouthed, and often takes action without fully thinking it through first.

Quote:
Gaian Name: KumarKakarla
Character Name: Trevor Randall
Age: 21
Appearance: He's about 5'10", with a fairly muscular build. His skin is slightly tanned. He wears baggy jean pants and his worn leather jacket (which, incidently, he stole). Dark, messy, short hair. He often looks angry. Oh, and he always has a couple knives on him.
Powers/Special Abilities: Fire creation and manipulation, skilled at thievery, weak mind control(similar to hypnosis or the Jedi mind trick), telepathy, and a mental mind attack.
How He/She Got These Powers: Doesn't know. He discovers them in a series of freak accidents(depicted in my later posts).
Brief Bio: Trevor lives on the streets of Chicago. He's the guy you don't want to run into in a dark alley. Seeming to lack a conscience, he robs and even mugs when he has to, as if it meant nothing more to him than putting bread on the table. He does enjoy his no-rules lifestyle though, and gets by fairly well.He left his family long ago, and generally tries to avoid friendships because he thinks they're silly. So is he a common criminal with no morals whatsoever?
Other: Trevor is usually a no-worry kind of guy, but often gets incontrollably angry. Most of his powers reveal themselves when he's angry.

Garrin
Gaian Name: Garrin
Character Name: Ciel Gantz
Age: 124 (the equivalent physically of someone between the ages of 12-16 on Earth in general terms, and appears as such, however, his actions reveal that he is older than he appears, at least by human standards)
Appearance: Ciel
Powers/Special Abilities: Free control manipulation of water in all of its phases (meaning he can freeze, melt, evaporate, and condense it at will in addition to basic manipulation). A bit of basic water and arcane magic.
How He/She Got These Powers: Ciel is a being of what is known for the most part as the Plane of Elemental Magic, so named because nearly every one of its denizens is capable of some form of elemental manipulation. This is a misnomer, however, as this power is more innate than magical. The general populous is still capable of magic, of course, but only through years of rigorous study, whereas the ability to manipulate elements is there from birth (further reinforced be the fact that magic seals cannot seal off this ability (although certain seals can weaken it slightly. Though no one knows where this innate ability comes from, there are several theories that there is some source of magic that led to the development of the ability, but since the magic was indirect, is thus unable to be completely sealed).
Brief Bio: The Plane of Elemental Magic is on good terms with Lascia, so through interdimensional contact, news travels fast, and there were plenty who were glad to help the Lascians search. Ciel is not one of those people. Granted, he'd be of some help should the need arise, but his main reason for coming out in this mad search is, being himself a rather curious individual, he wishes to see these strange occurances for himself.
Other: He carries a strange gem on his person. It seems to serve some sort of purpose, but most people would not know what this purpose is...

I always liked how you personalized the opening spheal, but it does seem kinda... short. I duno, this just seems to ask for every single character to do the same thing: Ask around. Then pointless conversations...

I think I can work around it. wink

Ko was in a rather sad state.

Six months ago, he left his homeland to meet this mighty leader. A week ago, he had found somebody who could take him to this leader. Now he was stuck in some dimensional backwater world, with... amazing and terrible things around him. He was just supposed to meet this guy, and no matter what he did his efforts were futile. How could he head back to his land? To his Pride?

Again he slammed a log with his gauntlet, cracking the thing in two pieces and a splintery mess in the middle. He was sitting in a large bowl of land, pine forests all around him. He was not used to this land. He had seen jungles, but trees that grew needles? Grass that is soft and traps your feet? Wildlife all over the place? There was even the smell of rotten eggs in the air, this was an evil place.

If he was a being from this world, he would know that he was in Yellowstone Nation Park, in a large Caldera. He would know that these were pine trees, and he would know the smell of rotten eggs was from the pools of acid.

Yeah, Ko knew nothing of acid. This would be a problem, as he made his way to what looked like a way out he came upon a strange stream. It was shallow, with no life in it. Odd, but not that odd. He was thirsty from his trek around the Caldera, and leaned over to get a handful of water to drink...
"GWAH!" He roared into the Caldera, his voice traveling three times along the sides of the bowl. His finger that first touched the water was burned, which caused Ko to jump away from the stream and knock over another small tree. He would do this twice before figuring out the water was doing this to him.

A couple of tourists figured this was just some bears duking it out.

He found out whatever he put in the water burned, lighting twigs on fire. This was indeed a strange land. Rivers that burn like fire? He had to escape. He looked down to the ankle brace which held a transparent purple rope-like wisp, which trailed a few feet above his head and disappeared. Grabbing the line, he tugged twice. The sign that he wanted to go back. After a few seconds, he felt his whole body lift up like a puppet. The world around him swirled and faded. It didn't take long for him to be back in the confined hallway of the airship Saga Horizon. Before him was a purple disk, pulsating with light he had never seen before. Out of nowhere a man in a green faded scrub came to him and released the line, which coiled into a device suspended over the purple disk.

"So Ko, first time on Earth?" Ko grunted as a reply, which was more than just a regular grunt. Half his vocabulary was various sounds and touches to show messages. His Pride had only learned speech a few generations ago, and it was still primitive. The man in the scrub, shrugged as he pressed some buttons and dials on the suspended device, the purple disk turning a dark grey. The hallway was lined with ten of these grey disks, all of them inactive.
"Well, we an get you a better location. I figured that place was best suited for you. Forgot about your culture. How about Africa next time? You seem like you would fit in there. Perh-"
"Just get Ko to Leader." The guy in the scrub looked a little annoyed that he was cut off, but continued to to his work.
"Fine. But next time you really need to get used to the land."

With a final button press, the disk turned purple again. Ko strapped the purple rope to his ankle brace again, and jumped into the portal.

((Interesting game idea, too. Once I get a good character in mind, I'll post it and join up. Is it pretty open with what I can make, or do you want earthling or Lascia Ch'io Pianga-uh-ing only?))

((Back from Thanksgiving-ness!! ^^

YAY, thank ya so much Duke and Mathai!!! ^____^ But, in answer to Mathai's question real fast, you can be whatever you want in the rp. Heck, if you wish to even be a talking cat, all the more power to ya. xd

Actually... that's not a bad idea. o.O *ponders about this* Eh. ))

Mela Welsch stepped out of the governmental airship (which was at the moment disguised to look like a Greyhound bus) and grimaced at what lay before her. THIS was supposed to be the ever-prosperous Chicago?? She had heard that it was one of the larger cities of the nation, so she figured it may have had some pristine beauty and elegance and signs of actual civilization there.... Alas, the sight of this grey-colored, slapped together, congested-as-a-can-of-rotten-sardines city just reminded her even more that she was in the backwaters of the universe. She dreaded every minute of it.

Taking a deep breath (and coughing right afterwards upon inhaling too many exhaust fumes from a passing cab, she stepped onto the hard, wet pavement. People bustled back and forth from grey-slabbed-building grey-slabbed building in the dreariest of clothes. The way they did so reminded her of a swarm of ants... or cattle. If their only hope of a leader lay among these dreary people, Lascia was in trouble. Darn that Mortimer. Why'd he always have to make things so difficult for her??

Straightening the ruffles on her suit, she extended her arm in front of her, letting her hand somewhat limply hang. "Might as well get this over with." She murmured as she cast her first finding spell. If Mortimer, or traces of Mortimer, were at least in some five mile radius, she'd be able to detect him immediately. Knowing how big this planet really is, however, she knew that this would probably take a rather long time. =____=

Edgar let out a huff as he finished his decent from the third story where his apartment room was located. Chicago was indeed a little cramped for his liking, but it had the best of the colleges that would accept him. Since he had no real high school education, he instead had to get a G.E.D. He did rather well, but it still wasn't quite enough for the better colleges of America. But that didn't really matter now, did it? He couldn't afford them, anyway.

As he reached the walkway to his school, Edgar picked up the pace a little. He had another one of those wierd dreams last night. (This time, I believe I was in Medival England somewhere.) He wasn't behind schdule, but he always liked to be early to his classes. As he went down the street, he saw in the distance a woman who seemed to be a little too dressed up for this part of town. (Huh. Wierd place for a tourist to be sightseeing)

"WHOA." Sure, Mela was quite used to surprises, but she didn't - by far - expect to find a magic-using person so close!! Immediately snapping to attention, she looked around to the closest people to her.... And found that she could scarcely lock her eyes on one person before he or she disappeared into the monotonous crowd of people. ARG!! Of all the-

Her eyes caught with a man just exitting the building. Something about his gaze annoyed her. "What?? Do you have a problem or anything???" She demanded, putting a hand on her hip and looking at him challengingly. The travels from Lascia to this one made her worn out and cranky enough; she really wasn't in the mood to be so rudely stared at, either.

((Yeeeeaaah..... She's a bit different from Lilia, lol..... ^^;;;;;;; ))

For a few moments, Edgar just stared at her, not quite sure what to say. On one hand, he found her to be a little amusing in how open she was. Definitley not a local. But still, she was quite rude. He wasn't staring or anything. Although she was acting wierd enough to stare at.

"Sorry, I just thought you seemed lost." With that, he started to leave again, not wanting to make a scene. (Something she's probably quite capable of.)
