my favorite version is the bbc one mainly because of the mr. collins there. after that, it would have to be kiera knightley's because of the music and then greer garson's because of its trying to modernize jane's words so that the audience of 1940 can understand it.

BBC version.
I was amazed how close to the book it was. I haven't seen the new version myself, and I would love to see it, but there's only so much you can put into an 1-2 hr. movie.

The 2005 version, simply because of the music score. Dario Marianelli is my hero for composing "Liz on top of the World". crying I absolutely love the motif, and Marianelli himself stands parallel to James Horner (Titanic) and Adrian Johnston (Becoming Jane) in my book for his themes. I have all of the soundtracks from the movie! heart Music nerd... eek

I think both Mr Darcy's are pretty hot! Agreed.
And there are more Darcys: 1. debonair Laurence Olivier as Darcy in the 1940 production 2. the elf-like Mr. Darcy in the Latter-Day Comedy 3. extremely hot Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones's Diary 4. anachronistic Mr. Darcy in Lost in Austen Yeah...those are a few.
I'm glad that music has been brought up...I really love the scene in the 2005 version where Darcy and Lizzie all of a sudden are dancing all by themselves. It's gorgeous.

poulet2121 I like the BBC version because it is very close to the book. Yeah...I like both of them equally but for two things: 1)BBC version is better with accuracy. 2)2005 version has AWESOME music.

I like the accuracy of the BBC (and the fact that it's funnier than the '05) but I prefer the music, and some of the cast from the '05 version.
Okay, so here's a question. Latter Day P&P or Bride and Prejudice?
I vote B&P, myself.

Naveen Andrews made an excellent Anglo-Indian Bingley!

I like the dance scenes and the colors of the costumes. It doesn't stay accurate to the book but for a bollywood version it is very good.

I know it's not exactly Bollywood, but has anyone seen Monsoon Wedding? I think it's a gorgeous film, and fits in very well with a Jane Austen/Bronte sister kind of a plot. I highly recommend it.
And with the whole changing stuff thing in B&P, since it's in three different countries, and primarily in India, and modern times, I can understand many of the huge changes. The singing is hilarious at parts to, especially about Mr. Kholi!
