I am not the mule, but in her stead I will say that is interesting. Ordinarily there would be liver issues with that disorder if it got that far that there was hyperpigmentation and pulmonary issues.

Oh wise U-mule-aeril(Sorry. had to. XD)
Is it a good idea if I were to decide to let the vet cut my dog's leg off if it's only dead and causing him pain?

RosesFallingLikeRain Thanks. I just don't know if it's ethically right. Well I know the mule would reply if she were here but I will say this: Ethics are dynamic things. They change with the weather...and they change with the person who claims them. Ultimately we create and adapt our own ethics. You will have to take a stand on the issue according to the criteria you have set for being ethical. At the bottom line, when you stand there by yourself as an adult and you take that pet in and you make the decision, then hopefully mind and spirit are in alignment ethically. If that is the case then your actions will be in accordance with the best interests of your pet within the context.
