Howlite growled when Warren came in and curled around him, but the heat was welcome and so his growling subsided soon enough, although reluctantly. His ears pressed themselves against his head and he wished he had his tail again, to curl around his nose for some more warmth, but he knew that would never happen. He wasn't even sure if the gods and godesses themselves could bring it back.
Even without his tail, though, he fell into a quick sleep and he cuddled deeper into Warren's fur. Occasionally, he would dream of Hunter again and his eyes would snap open warily, but he was calmed by the prescence of Warren, as smelly as it was.
However, nothing could calm him from the cramped feelings he had. It scared him when he tried to move, only to find himself between Warren and a wall and a low ceiling above his head. He had tried to get to the entrance once, but Warren had come in second and was thus blocking it from him. He had even tried to nudge the male away quite harshly but had fallen asleep in the middle of it.

While the white male varied between restless and silent, for the most part, the time that passed was restful. Warren could sense the sudden onset of panic when Howlite would awake from his likely nightmares, but the other soon stilled when he realized he was safe. For the time being at least.
Warren's unconscious gestures of comfort, such as shifting closer and curling his tail over the other, probably didn't hurt.
Still, he kept his vigil at the entrance of the den. It was not for the absence of the hovering stench, for that lingered still even near the exit. His watchful eyes scanned the outside world, ears and nose on the alert for any sign of impending danger. Mostly, danger in the form of that winged she-demon.
Time passed slowly, agonizingly so. Warren kept an eye on the sky for a rough judge of time and when he could wait no longer, he turned and gently nudged the other male. It had been at least a couple hours or so and he was growing anxious. They had to get moving to reach safety soon; best before that devil decided to come after them.
'Okay, nap time's over,' he murmured, gently nudging his side with his muzzle so as not to wake the other in a panic. Turning his eyes back towards the entrance, he reached out with a paw and patted the other's foot. 'Time to get moving again.'

Howlite, when he felt a familiar nudge on his side, groaned and rolled over, trying to bat at whoever it was with his tail, but only felt a stinging pain. He was never a morning helix, as he always had a hard time waking up. This made it so that he preferred solitude during the night, and he hated waking up to find another close by. His thoughts, slow because lack and sleep and loss of blood, were drowsy, which made him think he was in his old den, with his supposed family.
"What?" he mumbled irritably, trying to turn over, only to crash into the wall. He closed his eyes as he leaned against it, and was instantly asleep, only to be woken once more. He still thought he was a young pup again, only a month or two old, and that the helix prodding him was his adopted father Jaden or his mother Lunar. Unwilling to disobey such an authorative figure, he blinked his eyes open reluctantly and looked about himself. "So soon?" he whined. "My eyes sting, mother."

Hunter smirked in the very light sun, just cracked over the horizon. Time to hunt again. She leapt from her cliff, spreading her wings wide open and landing on the ground about a mile below. There...the blood from the night before. Strong and sweet. She bolted from the clearing, after the smell of the two. She would have to catch them before they left her territory...
She charged along, smelling as she went. She spotterd a large tree where the stench omitted from...her territorial scent clouded with blood. Her prey was in that tree. She licked her teeth and poked her head through the bushed, growling lightly.

((Sorry for the delay in posting, but Darkies' post sorta' threw me. I wasn't aware that it was morning, plus Hunter's arrival seemed rather...'instant'. *sweatdrop* I was thinking it was heading into evening...or nighttime at the latest, but err...whatever... *tries to go with it*))
---
A mildly amused smirk passed over Warren's muzzle and he stifled a chuckle in response. 'Not quite, kiddo. I'm afraid I don't have the hips for it. Still, you seem to be my responsibility for the time being nonetheless.' He turned his head towards the entrance again, glancing outside. 'If it helps, it's still dark outside, so shouldn't be as harsh on your eyes. We'd best get moving in any case,' he muttered, keeping his rambling going to help Howlite wake up quicker and get moving. All the while, he was nudging the other, urging him to start shifting and preparing to move.
Finally, Warren started squirming out from the den, emerging into the fresh, clean air once more. He stretched, shaking out his fur as he took a deep breath...
...and cursed. 'Howl! Move! Now!' His voice was quiet, but sharp with authority and urgency. 'She's almost here! Get out and run!'
Eyes narrowed, he scanned quickly for the beast, still silent and moving towards the trees cautiously. Where the hell had she come from? How had she caught up so quickly? The questions seemed to have no answer...it made no sense...they should have still had time before she even STARTED after them, let alone crossed the distance necessary...
Nothing to do about it now...Warren shook his head sadly, then froze, blue eyes locked on a dark figure against the snow. Too late! Nothing else to do! Without another thought, except for the injured white male still trapped in the tree, Warren practically flew across the snow towards Hunter, nothing more than an orange blur.
'HOWL! MOVE!' he barked sharply, his last order before he aimed to body check the distracted winged beast before she could discover the 'prize' beneath the tree. He only had to get her clear so Howl could escape...it was up to the kid to move his butt now. Warren had enough to deal with, as he set to latching his fangs into anything he could before kicking out viciously to break away again.

(( Woops, sorry, completely forgot it was my turn in this RP. D8; ))
At first, Howlite only batted at Warren everytime he nudged him. Then his eyes opened wearily and he looked around, baffled by the fact that he was surrounded by wood and fur. "Hu--" he was about to say before a terrible pain at the base of his tail reminded him of their predicament. Another involuntary whine escaped him and he curled over it protectively, his ears flat in a moment of complete vulnerability. His eyes were wide and fearful when he noticed Warren outside, and he quickly tried to compse himself, unwilling to be labeled as a weakling.
Howlite managed a small growl when Warren started to yell at him, assuming Warren had though of himself as the superior, in Howlite's weakened state. However, with Warren's next words, the snarl died in the air, only to be replaced by the sharp scent of fear. He pressed against the sides of the wood, thinking his best chance of survival would be where he was. But there was no tunnel and Hunter's paws could easily reach him. Even Warren could tell.
He bolted out of the tree so fast, the only sign of his appearance was the spraying snow. He didn't get very far before he tripped, unable to keep his balance without his tail. The base of his tail raised instinctively, as it would have normally done to help keep Howlite on his feet, but there was no tail now, and only more pain resulted, as the small scab that had formed cracked.
He could scent Warren nearby, and Hunter, too, in the crisp winter air, but he could only see flashes of red amongst the white, and his mind spun. He somehow managed to get his paws underneath him again and he struggled forward, in what he hoped was away from the fighting helixes.
