-Two days later.-

Kaosti returns late that night to find the streets littered with confetti and streamers, but everyone had retired for the night, "What a mess...." he grumbled to himself, as he summoned a wisp of wind to began piling the debris.

By midnight he had a pile well over his head of papers, boxes, crates, etc... in a massive clearing and began his bonfire.

Kaosti walked a good distance away from the pile and created a large throne of dirt, then returned, and lit a trail to the pile, and teleported to his throne, waiting in anticipation for the entire pile to burst into flames.

Aeda had been onwatching from the boughs of a near by elm tree... as if stalking prey on a usual premice. This was her land, her town and her hunting grounds(Figuratively speaking) and this mongrel was not welcome or wanted. But the fact that he cleaned up a mess in the street showed great character and was reason enough for an introduction.

She leapt silently from her hiding place some feet away form Kaosti and walked gingerly to his back making sure as not to alert him to her presence... leaning ever so slightly over his sholder she whispered "Good evening sire, what is your business here?"

Kaosti shifted the top blade of his scythe to see the woman behind him and smiled, "Hello there... I am waiting for this pile of debris to burst into flames... I calculate it should happen soon If you'd care to watch with me..." he offered his hand out to the open air and a dirt throne rose up from the earth.

"It's not the best seat in the house, I'm sure, But it is the best I can offer you."

Pleased with his demeanor, Aeda took the seat, but in silence. She knew it would be approximately ten minutes before that pile would ignite, she'd wait... for now.

But impatience would get the best of her, that was a sure thing. Two minutes passed and her crave for the flame grew... and that was it. The flame lit.

"Excuse me sire, I must apologize for my rudeness, but you see I do hate waiting for things; such as fire to start." If you'll forgive me, I'd still like to look on with you. It's entrancing really."

He smiled pleasantly enjoying the warmth of the fire, "Indeed, The flame is transfixing... Thank you for lighting it... I believe the substance I used to light it was not the appropriate one... though it would have lit sooner or later." Kaosti rested into his chair and closed his eyes, sighing deeply, to indicate he was relaxed.

Why is he being so damn chipper? It's enough for him to come here and intrude on my feeding grounds, but to assume I'd enjoy his company? A mess wouldn't have taken that long to clean up, I mean I just ignited the whole damn pile didn't I? And yet he still presumes that I'd enjoy watching it with him. I'd eat this b*****d if he wasn't drained already...

She looked on with discontent, regretting the moment she jumped from her perch. The fire reached a solid twenty feet, sure to be seen by the mortals... if they weren't so accustomed to her raids, curiosity would have lured them out already; easy picking. It had been nearly a week since her last feeding and Aeda grew tired. Her strength would dwindle soon if she did not eat. And the fact that this party went on did not help. A vampire in a crowd did not bode well, and last night she almost got herself caught. But now she had another problem, there was a challenger in her midst. His intentions were unannounced, and it infuriated her.

"What are you doing here, sire?"

Cortez was drawn in by the fire, like many others it would seem. he watched its embers dance for a bit and let the flame warm his cold body. he closed his eyes and relaxed, but was abruptly awoken when an alarming smell wafted under his nose. Cortez followed the aroma in an almost drift like fashion. it lead him do a boy with dark hair, similar to his own. and he then knew, and knelt down and inhaled the boys scent obnoxiously.

Kaosti smiled, "Well, I am..." he began to answer Aeda when he felt a slight draft behind him. Shifting slightly he became nose to nose with his sniffing culprit and frowned slightly, "................ Can I help you?"

sounding almost intoxicated he said "ah yes... i know the smell of my own blood." Cortez then stood up strait and stood in front of the young man. "You must be Kaosti, I am your great grandfather Cortez." as he introduced him self he smiled upon Kaosti with a toothy grin.

Kaosti looked slightly confused and rose from his dirt throne, allowing it to collapse back into the earth he had pulled it from, "Must be on my dad's side..." he mumbled as he thought for a moment.

-two minutes of thinking-

Kaosti snapped his fingers, "Ah Yes!" he exclaimed, "The one whom disowned my father for being whom he was. I've heard very little about you... What do you want?"

Cortez looked displeased "is that all they have to say about me? realy.." he sighed "look, i have been searching for you, though it seems you basically came to me, appearing in Enthelda and what not." he paused as if he had forgotten what he was saying. he then pointed at Kaosti and said "your homeless, your mother was kidnapped and that fruit bat wondered off some where. your staying with me, and your lady friend can come too."
PostPosted: Wed Jul 01, 2009 9:49 pm

"But... I hardly know her??" he looked at the woman nervously, then back at Cortez, "And since when did you come to this conclusion!? You don't even like my "good-for-nothing" father? Why the hell do you care so much about if I'm homeless or not." he turned away from his great grand father and bowed slightly to the woman next to him, "I am terribly sorry for his rudeness, as well as mine, But I must be going. Enjoy the rest of your night."

Kaosti stood to his full height, gave Cortez another glance, and walked off onto the cold dark back streets of Arathira.

Cortez looked impatient and followed him "I care because despite you being quarter fruit bat, your my only blood left." he said after him.

he turned back to the young vamp and motioned her to follow.

"Kaosti hear me out, we will both have a better chance of finding you mother if we stick together."

"My grandfather is working on it with me... I have help." he continued walking in a frustrated manor, "And what do you mean I'm your only blood left... My father isn't dead. I'd be able to tell if he was."

Kaosti turned to look at his Great grandfather and frowned, "What do you really want me to stick around for? You never cared about me before. Hell, I barely even knew you existed..."

"My heart may be cold but i still have one. and you are the only chance i have left to make up for Hans and Lucid. and if you join the family you will be the heir to everything that i own, witch is a full quarter of all the businesses in this capitol city and several in gate town." Cortez looked rather desperate, "and i have some information on your father and his current situation.
