... To encounter a pair of fellow Northerners was rare chance enough to be peculiar, but for them to know Squalo's name already just seemed absolutely impossible, nay, even ridiculous! Of course, Hanna was casual enough not to make a massive stink of it, though she did take note all the same. Every second the whole encounter seemed that much more curious.
Almost like Fate itself had destined it... that was, if Hanna Leon believed in such a thing.
"Who now?" Takeshi, however, seemed just as happily clueless as ever, one ear cocking a little at the name 'Xanxus' and not even seeming to notice as poor Squalo got a claw to the face, instead returning dearest Kudos to one arm as he looked back at the... funny, odd new pair.
"Who indeed," Hanna mused, passing a sly look back at Squalo. "I was unaware you had such a vastly known reputation, Mr. Squalo."
Yeah, well Squalo was probably just as unaware, but that was beside the point.
"But anyway," the little therapist digressed harmlessly, "perhaps we should--"
"Heeey, can I see that thing?" a certain Kanus (who seemed to have the world's worst case of ADD that day) suddenly piped up, tapping a finger on the handle of Chrome's rather peculiar weapon and making the poor, nervous girl jump a bit. "Ah, sorry about that! I didn't mean t'scare you or anything; it's just a really cool looking thing! May I?"
"......." Chrome was most definitely uncertain; it read all over her body and everything, but... surely, just to let him hold it for a second wouldn't hurt much, right? And besides, in exchange, he'd passed Kudos back to her, which made the whole thing just a smidge better.
"Man," seeing it up close and running a finger along the edge only made him more curious, though. "Where'd you find something like this? I've never seen one before! Ha, it's really cool!"

Squalo made a face right back at Hanna which plainly read 'So did I', rubbing his face where he'd gotten clawed-by-surprise by a certain now-much-more-content kitty who happily settled into Chrome's arms, purring up a little storm of contentment, attempting to rub it's head against the girl's chin.
Hmm, the attachment to the trident was something that Jade found something...suspicious, though it wasn't as though he himself didn't have a thing for his own spear and it's origins. However, it seemed even Mukuro made a face when the trident was passed to the Kanus, hmmm.
It didn't help that while Takeshi was messing with it, Squalo grabbed it and jerked the end of the Trident when it got too close to his face... y'know, not all that gently.

"Hey, whoa-- careful there, Squalo! You might--!!?"
A split second before it happened, Hanna already knew.
... Call it premonition, or perhaps simply a convenient gut instinct, but something in the therapist felt that SNAPSHATTER before it actually hit her ears, reacting almost instinctively, but no doubt too slowly, in an attempt to stop what would inevitably happen anyway.
At the very same time, Chrome, wide eyed and horrified, grabbed frantically for the polearm which broke apart like glass between her fingers, quite literally dissolving in the time it took to blink. The air where it had been seemed to ripple like water for the barest, smallest moment... and then? It was... a pulling. A yanking. Like suddenly, that ripple was a giant rip down the seams of time and space, and it was angry, and oh, no, there was absolutely no way for this to end well. Not in the slightest.
Funnily, and almost inexplicably, Shae was the first one to feel it. She startled in bed as if a bolt of lightning had just coursed through her, eyes snapping wide open and seeing nothing but a blur. She couldn't breathe; there was something very alarming in that nothing was there.
And then some indeterminably small sliver of time after, it hit Hanna full on, and it hit Yossarian, and it even hit Takeshi somehow through that thick, thick skull.
Perhaps Chrome was the only one with any idea what was about to happen-- or happening already-- but it wasn't like she had any breath left to scream it out, or even do a damn thing beyond hang back and suffer the fate she couldn't stop.
Life was about to get infinitely more hectic, infinitely more quickly.
... And then, they weren't there, and they never had been there, and the spot on the beach where they'd been standing, didn't even bare a footprint.
