"I was hurt one time," she explained. "I guess they thought I was dead, but a rat chewed on me. Ever since I get kind of...weird-ed out around." She gave another noticeable shiver.

"Well then," she said standing and nodding firmly, "I will protect you until you heal. No rat or mouse shall get past me. Any why try will wind up in soup. Don't worry, I wont feed that soup to you," she hastened to assure her.

"Thanks," she couldn't help but giggle. "I appreciate that. But if it ever comes down to it, just don't tell me if you have to." She smiled up at the other girl.

She stretched her wings as much as the cave allowed. After giving the pot one more stir, she'd always been such a pot-stirrer, she tasted the stew. Declaring it done, mentally anyway, she scrounged around for things to serve it in. She passed a makeshift bowl of the stew to her companion, adding in a crunchy hard swirl of back with an almost miniature bowl at one end to serve as spoon. She pushed the whole mess to her new friend. "Eat up. Spoon is edible too," she said as she served herself.

Valkyrie dug into the soup with relish, her wings aching from pain and hurt. She felt a little akward now, "Do you come here often or?" What else was she to say?
She filled up her mouth again with another swallow of soup, "This is very good."

Her lips twitched in a smile at the awkward psudo-pickup line. But she said nothing, until the other commented on the soup. Then she smiled for real. "I'm very glad that you like it." And she was. It was always a pleasure to brighten someone else's day. If she couldn't fly in the storm, this was also a pleasant way to pass the time.

The awkward silence seeped into her bones. She'd never been much for forced conversation. She looked around the cave for a talking point, her body shivering with the cold

She saw that and slipped over closer. "Cold?" she asked, using one wing to cover carefully over the other pony. "I will never get used to the way everypony always seems so cold all the time." She smiled as she said it, to show she meant no criticism.

The warmth of the other female made her skin tingle. Valkyrie felt an odd sense of heat creeping up her flesh. "I'm usually warm, warmer than other ponies at least. But in this cave....or maybe I just got too cold and wet in the rain. Or maybe a fever." She shuddered again and leaned into the warmth of the other pony.

"Some days I wonder what it would feel like..to be cold. I mean, in the unpleasant way. I can recognize it in other ponies, but have never felt it myself. I don't think I'd enjoy it, but I'd like to experience it, just once to understand." She considered. "Fear too, I suppose, I should try to feel, at least once."

"If I understand cold and fear correctly, no, I don't feel either. Maybe I deep down want to, because I'm always happiest in winter winds that send others inside, and doing things that make the hearts of others stop in their chests. Maybe I'm trying to find cold and fear," she said with a shrug. "Who knows. But I know those things are fun. That's why I do them."
